Admin?

I see you got into a bit of a dust-up about Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/2016 Formula One season (3rd nomination). For what it's worth, I probably wouldn't have closed it so quickly. Sure, it was heading firmly in the snow-keep direction, but it wouldn't have hurt to let it run a couple of days. I don't think what you did was wrong, but maybe not the very best choice of action.

That being said, the big picture is I've seen you at AfD a lot and you seem to be like a pretty reasonable person, so would you mind if I nominated you to be an admin? You're already doing much of the work an admin does anyway, so why not get a mop of your own? -- RoySmith (talk) 00:11, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Miranda Fryer

Hi Davey2010, I'm not going to make a big fuss, take this to DRV, or anything like that, but I notice that you both opened and then closed the above AFD. Per WP:BADNAC, I don't think this was appropriate, specifically because you "expressed an opinion in the discussion". Even as an admin, I choose to leave discussions I start for someone else to close, even in cases where the outcome is obvious. Like I said, it's not a big thing, just a suggestion for you to keep in mind in the future =). Lankiveil ^(speak to me) 07:05, 13 August 2014 (UTC).

Deleting changes made to article: Kemsey railway station

Hi Davey. I'm SoutheasternTrains but you can call me Chris. At 16:01 today I added content to the article of Kemsley railway station. Then, you deleted it. Why? I live in Kemsley, I use the station everyday and I am also a train entusiast. I added content about the services and you deleted it. I know the station and services through Kemsley like the back of my hand. I would just like to say that I think I have right to post extra content. Please let me know why you deleted my edit.

Abellio London

Can I please get something straight here - why have you removed the bus types/allocated routes etc. from ONE depot which have been there for years without dispute or questioning and not any others? Why have you removed them when someone else was disputing against the only line that was left? I will say it looked far better before all the bickering. kline

Everything I changed on Kline is reliably sourced as I work for the damn company... soon to be Tiger Blue (brought to you by kline) but that's not until October... The 901 runs every Sunday through the year from Elland depot (kline driver tho) the 900 summer service on a Sunday has been replaced with the latter... and we have 4 new Kirklees drivers due to the cutbacks and we have been honoured with the access bus contracts. As for the edits - You were reverted as you removed parts of the article that didn't need to be removed, and what you added was unsourced..... If a service has stopped running you should then find a cite that says just that,

Undid closure

I undid your closure because your speedy keep does not seem to be in one of the main qualifiers of WP:KEEP. Additionally, you mention 'socks' but also don't notice that the last three keep votes seem to be from SPAs as well. In response I must highlight the fact the section in which I posted is dedicated to criticism of the operaton of Poundland and cites specific cases, no different to my own offering. It is in the public interest, and I feel the public have a right to be made aware of the risks they face in Poundland's handling of customers when things go wrong.

(talk page stalker) There is no blanket ban on information but it does have to be taken from reliable published sources such as national newspaper articles. Social media are not regarded as reliable sources. Personal experience is not allowed here either. Hey Davey, I swapped your vandalism warning for a {{welcomelaws}} template. I think the edit was inappropriate, but not exactly vandalism. This is either a misguided newbie or (more likely) someone's sock; the former is served by the welcome template, while the latter should be blocked not for vandalism but simply for violating WP:ILLEGIT. You wandered into a war zone. The article is currently under semi-protection due to constant BLP violations, and I have requested full protection due to the same issues cropping up with autoconfirmed editors. Your edits got lost in the crossfire, though I admit that I reverted deeper to avoid using your date format change. ISO 8601 date format (2014-09-27) has been stable for months in this article, and that's what I prefer. This is the second time someone has unilaterally changed the date format in that article, but I'm tired of the constant edit warring there. If you really, really want it that way, I'll probably just go with it. But I will make a Jimbo Wales-style personal appeal that you revert back to ISO date format. It's specifically allowed by the MOS, and the MOS also recommends against changing date formats. If my policy-based arguments don't move you, how about a haiku?

I tend to change them per consistency & what not but I'm gonna be absolutely honest - I absolutely hate YMD/YDM dates anyway, IMHO they're just outdated and pointless BUT ... I can't do nothing about them being used and in all fairness both can be used, Anyway meh I'll revert :)

Someone once added a cleanup tag to an article that I created (it's kind of a long story, but that's the short version), and I talked him out of it by quoting Danger Zone, the old Kenny Loggins song from the 1980s. I'm tentatively going to say that quirky appeals work better than angry rants. Unfortunately, all I ever get are angry rants. List of Waterloo Road characters edit disuptes

Hi Davey, first of all I would like to say I am sorry for your loss. It must be terribly difficult when you lose a parent, so my upmost condolences.

I will totally understand if do not want to get involved in any article disputes at this difficult time, however the Waterloo Road articles are again coming under fire (that time of the year again, the juveniles tend to crawl out from under their rocks when that show comes back on), and again their is a dispute as to which series the next block of episodes belongs to - Series 9 or 10. As with every year, the BBC mini site and Radio Times have it listed as Series 10, and Shed and the Official WR website have it down as 9C (the latter of which I would take over the BBC or Radio Times as they don't have production rights). Would it be possible for you to take a look and perhaps give your imput? I know you have been a part of solving disputes on that article before. User:Justa Punk

He is a banned user, and Wikipedia policy is that edits from sockpuppet of banned users are to be deleted. He is not entitled to five chances, as he earned a community ban and has continued with sockpuppetry for over 4 years since then. Furthermore, he was blocked today for edit warring and changed IPs within 5 minutes to resume edit warring. The main reason for reverting is because you were/are a presenter of the show and was/are affiliated with it so thus you have a Conflict of interest,

It's also confusing when you take the Harlequin Shopping Centre as an example, as it's only really called the Harlequin in the title and opening line, but Intu Watford everywhere else in the article. Quick question

As you're a member of ProjectEurovision, here's one for you to ponder over. You know the EBU did a special show to celebrate 50 years, and called it Congratulations: 50 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest. Well all that happened before ProjectEurovision was thought of, so the creation of such article title was easy. The EBU have announced that there will be another special show to mark the 60th anniversary, and it will be held in London, which means a new article is imminently going to be created. Now here's the conundrum question: as the dates are unknown, as is what the show will be called - what do we do? Per WP:CRYSTAL and possible WP:NOR, we cannot assume what the shows title will be, as there is no confirmation from either the EBU or BBC. Without that show title, we're kinda stumped as to what to call the article. So do we:

1. Entitle the new article as "60 Years of the Eurovision Song Contest", explaining in the prose that no official show title has been decided, and move the article once an official name is known at a later date?
2. Store the information into a sandboxed draft article (which I have done for now) and then move it once we know what the show title will be?

Doing the first option could open things up for page move warring. Doing the second option, could risk the creation of a new article anyway, which would in turn put us back to the problem we'd have with the first option. Hi Davey,

I hope I'm not bothering you and that you have recovered, if not, then please forgive this intrusion. If you have recovered and are working on Wikipedia articles again, then I am happy for you. I wrote an article for Rosemarie Burian, as I believe she is a remarkable person, I wanted to acknowledge that by giving her a page on Wikipedia. She has been a huge contributor to social justice by founding Bethlehem Center, now the Northern Illinois Bank. I don't mean to sound as though I'm pushing the Northern Illinois Food Bank. I am just looking for a way to speak to her contribution to humanity. I added sources. Is this still against Wikipedia standards? What do you think?

Please do the math: If you are born in 1979, what year do you graduate high school? Oh that's right: 1997!!!! I am the same age as Aaron Paul -- the actor from Breaking Bad - same birthdate and all. EVERYONE our age graduates high school in 1997.

On the Wiki page, it states he graduated high school in 1998 -- which links to a newspaper article. So I'm certain it's probably correct. However, the PART I TAKE ISSUE WITH is the part that states, "graduated a year early, in 1998."

1998 is NOT a year early. It is a year LATE, if anything.

He would be turning 19 the summer of 1998 -- how is that a year EARLY??!!

What bugs me most is I EXPLAINED this to you in my edit. And you didn't read it.

Just to let you know that this is not a blatant violation of our username policy. A Google search shows that Shit is a surname, if the information I found is correct it comes from India. It could be that they are just using their name - I Shit - which is allowed under Wikipedia's policies. Col-3 is not better because it made the list look clumsy and congested whereas single list gives a neat appearance. The red links on Chutti TV have the very possibility of creation. I am the genuine contributor of 90% of content of Chutti TV article. It have been taken years for me to edit all the content that is present on the article. I noticed your report of Notforlackofeffort‡ at WP:AIV and the subsequent conversation while patrolling it yesterday. I do agree with the assessment here that is more of an issue for WP:ANI, of course. I am hesitant to be the one to open a thread, perhaps since I consider myself involved due to !voting in the relevant AfDs, but primarily because I feel that is your prerogative, if you choose to do so, as you seem to be the target of much of the WP:BATTLE and WP:AGF issues caused by this editor. Hi, Davey, just a piece of friendly advice. I'd not comment on people opposing a block of Notforlackofeffort at ANI. I'm sympathetic to why you do so, but I don't think it helps you. Either let it go uncommented, or let someone else comment. Most of the editors aren't idiots, and they hopefully will recognize the abuse you've had to put up with from this user, so commenting on it won't accomplilsh anything except perhaps make you feel better. Of course, what you do is entirely up to you. I just thought you might at least consider my "words of wisdom" (). Finding a standard for fleet sections

Hi Davey2010,

I have received a few queries regarding the fleet section on bus company pages, and I personally did notice a few of them were significantly condensed to one-liners.

I do understand (and personally do get annoyed) that fleet sections tend to get cluttered with several unsourced and unnecessary information. I support the removal of unsourced information. However, to reduce them to one-liner appears to be going the other extreme, especially if the details of bus procurement or disposal is recorded in several reliable sources including newspaper articles, books, etc.

I am thinking if a balance can be reached, a standard that can be universally applied across the project covering bus-related articles that is based on reliable sources. If let's say there is no reliable sources on the fleet, perhaps we do keep it brief as it is. For those with reliable sources covering the models though, perhaps the fleet section of airline articles is a possible standard that can be adopted (e.g. Qantas and British Airways). There is a brief table, well sourced, and lack of clutter. Thoughts? - Mailer Diablo 14:52, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi Mailer Diablo - I'm in 2 minds with the fleet On side I think the fleet (and routes) should all be kept as they may be beneficial to the reaser (we're an encyclopeia after all) but the other side thinks "well it's unsourced & since we can't cite every bus here it should be a one-liner, To be honest If it were a vote I'd go with the first!

At one point we used to have tables and kept a small number, Anyway nope I wouldn't a mind a table at all :),
