• Speedy deletion criterion A5 (transwikied articles) has been repealed following an unopposed proposal.

Arbitration

• Following the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: Barkeep49, CaptainEek, GeneralNotability, Guerillero, L235, Moneytrees, Primefac, SilkTork.
• The 2021-22 Discretionary Sanctions Review has concluded with many changes to the discretionary sanctions procedure including a change of the name to "contentious topics". The changes are being implemented over the coming month.
• The arbitration case Stephen has been closed.

Miscellaneous

• Voting for the Sound Logo has closed and the winner is expected to be announced February to April 2023.
• Tech tip: You can view information about IP addresses in a centralised location using bullseye which won the Newcomer award in the recent Coolest Tool Awards.

Contentious topics procedure now in effect

You are receiving this message because you are subscribed to updates on the Arbitration Committee's contentious topics procedure revision process.

In December, the Arbitration Committee adopted the contentious topics procedure, which replaces the former discretionary sanctions system. The contentious topics procedure is now in effect following an initial implementation period.

• A brief guide for administrators may be found at Wikipedia:Contentious topics/Administrator instructions.
• Updated templates may be found at Template:Contentious topics.
• Suggestions and concerns may be directed to the arbitration clerk team at WT:AC/C.

Protection against LTA on Nordic model

Hi, you protected this article back in October, and also earlier in August, unfortunately as the protection expired recently the same IP editor has continued introducing their poor wording into the article using different IP's yet again. This has been going on for some time now so it might need long term protection. TylerBurden (talk) 00:30, 16 January 2023 (UTC)

Rampant sockpuppets

Hi

Very much appreciate your work in blocking Alex Neman's countless sockpuppet IP accounts but what can seriously be done about this? It's obvious that he circumvents the system by having some sort of connection to an unlimited number of IP addresses, meaning it's just an endless game of whack-a-mole. Not even huge range blocks can stop him; he just creates a new IP account immediately after. Is this sort of uncontrolled "guerilla"-style sockpuppetry common with other blocked sockpuppeteers because clearly the current system isn't working. Rangeblocks seem to be the way forward here, and possibly occasional page protections. They'll get tired eventually. DatGuy^Talk_Contribs 12:04, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Fair enough, but bear in mind that Alex has virtually been doing this non-stop almost everyday for the last 3 years. Clearly he doesn't get tired - Democfest (talk) 12:15, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
