Ways to improve LCBC

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Good start! I would recommend expanding the lead section, giving this article a good copy-edit, and reformatting your references to a more consistent and standard style. Let me know if I can help!

Thank you, Fisheriesmgmt. I've done a copyedit of the article (you were correct that there were some glaring oversights) and, as such, removed the copyedit tag. As for the references, I do believe they are consistently formatted. I was conscientious of the formatting and used Wikipedia's citation tool in a consistent manner. I believe the appearance of inconsistency is simply a matter of the sources being of different types, and thus having different bits of information. They are each as complete as possible. Date formatting is consistent, as is author and publication information. If you have more specific requests regarding their consistency, please do let me know.
I have also slightly expanded the lead and removed the "lead too short" tag. I do not believe I can further expand the lead without violating WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY. If you have direction otherwise, please let me know that, too.
Thanks again for taking a look and offering direction on how to improve the article immediately. I do plan and expect for this article to expand in the coming days as I track down other sources of information. -- DanielKlotz (talk · contribs) 18:00, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hi! Thanks for copy editing the article--it looks much better now! As for your reference, I was mostly just puzzled why you included quotes at the end of some of your citations. Is there a particular reason why you chose to do this? I don't think they are necessary to include in citations for this article, and I can't find any Citation templates that indicate that a quote should be included at the end of a citation. I think it just makes your reference list look clunky and a little confusing. However, if there's a good reason for doing this, I'd be interested to learn about it! I noticed that you also slightly expanded the lead. I agree that there's not much room for expansion, but I think the changes you've made are good. One note though--can you please cite your assertion in the lead section that LBSC "is now one of the largest churches in the United States"? Simon Fuller article

I’m writing regarding Simon Fuller’s Wikipedia page. It’s not entirely accurate, concise, nor up to date, and several citations contain dead links. As you've mentioned, I have a COI as I work for Mr Fuller, so we’d like ask how to clean the page of irregularities (repetition, out of date claims, dead citations, promotion of other individuals, poor use of language) and then lock it?

The edits I’d like to suggest contain citations for factual support to comply with Wiki editing protocols. They retain a neutral POV, use non-judgemental language, and are drawn from only reliable, published sources. Wikipedia states that editors with close association may be in conflict if they contribute to an article in a manner that removes relevant, well-sourced information. I’ve not done this. I have rearranged existing information to make the text more concise. I have included below a section to demonstrate my edit, which can be compared with the version online.


My edit: Simon Fuller is certified as the most successful British music manager of all time by Billboard magazine. [5][31] He has managed the career of Annie Lennox since 1991 and other songwriters including Cathy Dennis, who met Fuller as the singer of D Mob in the 1980s. In 2002 Fuller's company discovered 19-year-old Amy Winehouse, produced her first award-winning album and signed her to Universal Music. [32]

Fuller managed the Spice Girls through the peak of their 1990s success and he remains in partnership with the five girls today.[33][34] Under Fuller’s guidance, the Spice Girls rose to chart topper status worldwide and went on to sell over 85 million records.[35][36]

@Ginomaces: I appreciate your efforts to bring the article more in line with Wikipedia's standards. This section of the article definitely does need some help, and I'm afraid it goes much deeper than stylistic cleanup. Questions for you:
  1. Can you provide the direct source from Billboard stating that that publication "certifies" Fuller as "most successful music manager of all time"? Neither of the sources cited for that statement back up that claim.
  2. If we're to keep the bit about Cathy Dennis, we'll need a source to cite.
  3. Are the members of the Spice Girls today girls or women?
  4. Neither of the articles cited at the end of the sentence about the Spice Girls credit Fuller with guiding the group, and neither claim that the group reached "chart topper status worldwide" – a phrase whose meaning I don't understand (a group can have songs and albums that top particular charts; I'm not clear that a group can achieve "chart-topper status").
  5. The source cited for the sentence about Amy Winehouse only contains a little bit of text; the rest is a video of Fuller speaking, which is not an independent source. Do you have another source to suggest for the statements regarding the role he played in relation to Winehouse?
