The article Expropriation of the Weimar Republic has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Incomprehensible (machine?) translation of the German article http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/F%C3%BCrstenenteignung (hence also a copyvio, which could be healed by import, though). The title is also wrong and misleading. The article is about the expropriation of princes in the Weimar Republic, not the expropriation of the Weimar Republic.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

Hi Coin945, have you actually read the article that you posted? It is a tranlsation of the German article, that's clear, but beyond that it's pretty much incomprehensible. Is it a machine translation (word for word?). However, even Google Translate gives a much better translation than this. Just read the first sentence of your article and tell me what it means... The dispute over the expropriation of the Weimar Republic dealt with the question of what assets of the German princely houses should be done with the that in the wake of the November Revolution had been disempowered politically. --AndreasPraefcke (talk) 12:42, 13 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Expropriation of the Princes in the Weimar Republic for deletion

I suggest that you place wikilinks to various articles covering eras within the Jerusalem's history (Jerusalem in the Mamluk period, Jerusalem during the Crusader period, and Jerusalem during the Ottoman period, etc.) under the corresponding sections of the main History of Jerusalem article. Hello, I saw your question at Talk:Cleo (film) about the project's status. I found this article that talks about Soderbergh retiring soon and identifies the five remaining projects that he may do. None of them are Cleo, so I think that shows that it is not in active development. There can be a passing mention at Soderbergh's article, but I think director articles usually focus on produced works because they're tangible topics to cover. HH

Hi Coin, I am in London, UK, spending far too much time in Wikiland these days but happy to work on reshaping the HH articles. It's great that the Proms are spreading out these days and that HH can help. I did notice that HH series 2009 is no longer about 2009 and include shows broadcast this year. It seems the title was created to differentiate it from the animated series. Seems like either a retitling or a split is in order (a re-titling would be best, I imagine). Best wishes, happy editing. Ahh sorry, I tend to get a bit informal on talk pages. From now on, any casual conversation can be done here or on your talk page instead :). I enlisted Fricative's (the unofficial main author of the Glee-related articles) help and that is what she advised, he reasoning being hat in teh future tehre might be another animated/live action series which would cause retitling to be required. I personally didn't agrree with the decision of the change, but I don't know... what do you think? Also, what would a split entail? Sorry, I couldn't follow your message. What was Fricative suggesting? Which change? My issue was that Horrible Histories (2009 TV series) that isn't just about 2009. The article is in a bit of a mess and lists info series 2 and 3 (2010-11). It would be logical to change the title of Horrible Histories (2009 TV series) to Horrible Histories (TV series).
I would then suggest merging Horrible Histories (2001 TV series) and Horrible Histories: Gory Games under this new heading as there is little substantive content in the 2001 and Games articles. We don't need contestant listings etc. There is much repetition. That would leave us with one article on all HH TV shows, one article on the books and one on 'other media'. Oh sorry, I kinda wrote all that in a rush... *blush*. Fricative suggested that the two articles should be named HH 2001 series and HH 2009 series because if they were called live action and animated, then if another live action or animated series was made, it would mean that the articles would have to be renamed anyways. Her rationale was that this way, no matter what other HH series were made, the titles could stay how they are. The idea is that the article is named according to the year it debuted, rather than all the years it was on. I do agree with you though. That article title should be changed. I haven't been involved in the tv series and games articles so they have become very messy. That has to be addressed. I do know that there is a lot of info on the (not so successful) game, so hat one might have a shot, but the 2001 series has very little left to offer. I don't think it is such a good idea to merge all these articles into one... the 2009 series seems to be exceedingly popular in it's own right, winning Baftas and stuff. I dunno... I think for the moment we just need to sort out the basics. Are you experienced as a TV series editor, or just for children's book series? I've just been looking at your article Monasteries in Spain. First, thanks for your contributions Wiklipedia relies on volunteers like yourself. However, I noticed that the first thing which happened with this article was the insertion of 62,205 bytes, all in one go, with absolutely no references at all! Could you please go through the article inserting the references (an article of this size would require quite a number of them), or alternatively please direct us to the source of this information, as every article we have has to comply with the verifiability policy.

The second concern, when an article of this size suddenly appears all in one go, and unreferenced, is that it may contravene the copyright policy - in other words, simply have been copied in from elsewhere. Of course this may not be the case with this article, but adding inline citations to it should remove some of this concern. To do this, you'll find the citation templates especially helpful. We'd really appreciate it if you could provide the references required. You'll find this page on basic referencing useful to give you some pointers on how to do all this. Sorry about the overly long intro. I just tried to get the info in the article before sorting through it all. It's the first step in a very long journey.. Secondly, with the copyvio, I'm almost certain that I didn't. I did use the website as a major source, but even in some sections where the sentences in the article pretty much link up to sentences in the original article, everything that I included I put into my own words. Explanation

The ArcheoWiki license is Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike. The Wikipedia license, however is Attribution-ShareAlike. Our content is intended to be free is a very broad sense, including the freedom for anyone to make use of the material and also to modify it, for any purpose, commercial of non commercial. ( see WP:Copyright for the formal policy. )

There are good arguments to be made for having a non-comercial restriction, and good arguments to be made for not having it. Many non-profit organizations--universities, museums, and academic wikis, use a non-commercial license, as matching the intended scope of their operating principles. But it was decided at Wikipedia at the very beginning that our principle was to do something more: to provide an encyclopedia whose content all the world is free to use, in the widest and fullest sense possible. The only restriction is Attribution, and share-alike, in fairness to our contributors and to prevent material from being passed off as if it had a greater degree of authority than it actually does. You may disagree hat this is the best policy--I had some doubts about the wisdom also to some extent when I cfirst ame here,, because it prevented us from using some excellent material. But such it is, and it's one of the very basic concepts here, and it is not going to change because of what you think about it.

(There is an exception at the English Wikipedia for limited fair use (in text, for brief attributed quotations, in images under some very special and complicated circumstances). Even here, our own restrictions are much narrower than the relatively full use provided by US copyright law. There is no conceivable way that an entire long page from another wiki can fall under fair use.

You have two alternatives. One is to persuade the operator of Archaeolwiki.org, who is apparently Paul James Cowie of Macquarie University, and also the owner of the content, to release the material under a free license. If you are by any chance that individual or a representative of him, or if you are not, but wish our help in persuading him, we will endeavor to do so--I will help you find the necessary assistance. There are several people who specialize in such persuasion, and they have had remarkable success--see WP:GLAM.

The other is to rewrite the material in your own words entirely, using that page and its references as sources of information only, and being very careful to avoid Close paraphrase. For the requirements for use of the images there, see WP:Copyright, and in more detail WP:NFCC and [[WP:DCM].

If you would like to discuss this further, I'll point you to some suitable places, but all we can do there is try to convince you of the merits of our policy. My own obligation as an administrator here, is to delete this page, and any other material you have placing under such circumstances. Well, in that case, I was mistaken. In all honesty I was completely unaware of this. I assumed that as another Wiki (and skimming over the share license), the content was free, and therefore we'd be able to use it. So, what you're saying is, even though as part of the license, we are free "to Share — to copy, distribute and transmit the work", Wikipedia still won't let us...?? Damn.. Requested articles

Hi Coin945, Just because an article is requested doesn't mean it should be created. Wikipedia:Requested articles mentions this, and includes some links that explain Wikipedia's inclusion guidelines. Yes I am aware of that. I didn't use that as as a retionale for why the article should be kept.. I just thought I should mention it. My self-sppointed task in the past couple of days has been to clear out the massive backlog of redlinks in Wikipedia:Requested articles/Social sciences, by making lots of stubs. I know it might sound lazy but int he process, I leave it to others to work out the notablity of the articles, and then keep/delete at their own pace. I think of it as a production line. So if these articles need to deleted, merged, or redirected, so be it. I have no arguments agaist it, besides in some cases, there are other sources out these that I just didn't use because I can only afford a short amount of time to each stub. All I ask is that if an article is deleted, if someone changes the redlinks on the other article, that would be awesome. From a look at this talk page, I am significantly concerned at the volume of cleanup work you are generating for other editors. I do not question that you are editing in good faith, but competence is required as well.

Before you create another article, please review: the notability requirements, the definition of a reliable source (TVTropes is not one), What Wikipedia is not, and most importantly, the copyright requirements. Continued creation of inappropriate articles may necessitate a block from editing, and any further cut-pastes into articles from external websites most certainly will, as this is in violation of copyright. Removing Speedy at Word recognition

Hi Coin945, you recently removed a deletion tag from Word recognition. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator.
