House, Eurodance, or Dance-pop fan? Here are some songs I listen often. You might suggest new songs to add to this list. I created the "Lost" article, so you might also suggest me some notable songs to create as well. Regards--Chanaka L (talk) 09:39, 30 July 2009 (UTC)
Thank you very much young man. I appreciate your effort. Have a look at it since both references are from Govt. sources, and there is vertical profile of the phumdi in one. I have now corrected all the references and also fixed the imgs. Supeflous gallery section has been deleted. Please tell me under which section/subsection of GA I should post it.--Nvvchar (talk) 12:26, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
I am foxed by the pdf reference since I have not been able to find the correct pdf document which I sourced. Thanks for the fixes. I will post it after I am able to connect to this reference as it defines Athampum. --Nvvchar (talk) 12:42, 28 February 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for suggesting another reference, which I have adopted now. I found two more additional references on 'Athapums', which I have now added. I will be posting it on GA this evening after one more close reading.--Nvvchar (talk) 10:30, 9 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for the editing help. Phumdi has made the GA grade. Another artcile of my which you wish to suggest for upgrade? I want to do a DYK Buddhist Monastery in Sri Lanka, since I have done now a large number of them in the Indian subcontinent and also in some South Asian countries. Which is the best I can do in Sri Lanka jointly with you? Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 12:32, 15 April 2010 (UTC)
DYK for Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary
On March 1, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary, which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Hi, sorry to bother you but I saw you edit on the Sinhalese wikipedia, and I'm assuming you speak the lingo. Over at pages needing translation we have this article, ලෝක යුද්දය, which we believe to be Sinhalese, but none of us know it. If its not too much trouble, please could you take a look and tell us what its about/if its worth keeping? Thank you--Jac16888Talk14:59, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
No problem, quite please to help you. ලෝක යුද්දය or ලෝක යුද්ධය to be more correctly means World War. The article only mention about the trigger event of the WWI, assassination of Franz Ferdinand of Austria. As we have a quite comprehensive article on World War I, I think we can just delete this. Hope that'll help you. Best--Chanaka L (talk)03:40, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
I've done a quick copyedit, but the second and third paras of the lead seem very bitty, with strings of unrelated items, could do with trimming. There's a lot of repetition, particularly of the park name; I've chopped some, but another check wouldn't harm. I wouldn't add local names, its best to stick with either binomial or English on en-wiki, otherwise it tends to become a multilingual dictionary. Should the tsunami be lower in the article, perhaps after description?
The content is fine, just the prose needs a little polish. I'll leave it with you for now, and have another read before you go to GA if you like Jimfbleak - talk to me?10:58, 23 March 2010 (UTC)
I am trying to bring the article William Windsor (goat) up to good article status; as you previously helped, I wondered if you might have time to look at it again, and perhaps help improve it. All contributions welcome. Thank you for your time. Chzz ► 15:29, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Hi, can you revisit this FLC to ensure your concerns have been resolved, and if possible, leave a declaration of Support, Oppose, or Neutral? Thanks, Dabomb87 (talk) 04:18, 8 April 2010 (UTC)
I held back my comments as User:Chanakal promised intervention by a steward. Almost 2 weeks have lapsed and Felidae & Nirman is continuing the damage. Where is the steward? Due to quantum and the massive rate at which these two are uploading the articles a single person or a group of three or four can not arrest the situation. Hence intervention by administrators/Stewards is mandatory. I would briefly pronounce my analysis on actions of Felidae & Nirman:
First Felidae had started uploading and suddenly due to some reason became absent and Nirman took over. Then Felidae and very recently for a very brief period Nirman was doing the upload.
The original English articles are broken down into small portions & therefore the benefit to reader will be minimal or non-existent.
The links in original English articles are ignored by the translators and hence producing Orphan Pages with no potential of linkage to other articles in the Wikipedia.
The images along with captions are ignored to a greater extent and hence the benefit is not passed on to the Sinhala reader.
The Templates in the original English article are ignored. This is a golden opportunity to translate the templates. It is not done and hence the data especially in the introduction are presented in a form which is of no usage to the reader.
According to the norms of Wikipedia the introduction to the article is the nutshell and hence should be preserved. Either it is badly translated or the whole introduction is not translated.
Sections and sub-sections (sometimes single sentences) are translated (or attempted to translate) and presented as individual Sinhala articles. Here the issues are
naming of articles. Some bizarre titles are given which have no relevance to content or which are totally mis-leading.
as only a part of the whole article is presented as an article the reader will have no way of co-relating it with any other portion which would be translated and would not know when it will appear in the Wikipedia.
The bad grammar and bad sinhala words in the translation. Translations are poor and does not reflect the meaning in original English article. On top of that the about 80% of words in most articles are wrong. This will confuse the minds of readers and would not definitely provide any benefit. Even the titles of the articles are wrong Sinhala.
There are instances the same English article is translated three times and presented as three Sinhala articles. The three titles are almost the same but due to bad Sinhala usage had survived as three distinct titles.
Considering all the above, it is very clear that the uploads of articles by Felidae and Nirman is definitely damaging the Sinhala Wikipedia irreversibly. They seems to be in a hurry to upload and/or ignorant about Sinhala grammar and/or not concerned to bother about grammar or Wikipedian customs and/or not wanted to bother about anything because of SOME HIDDEN PROTECTION. Apparently ICTA and/or Felidae had confessed about involvement of money for each translated article. EVEN IF WE DISREGARD ALL I HAVE POINTED ABOVE I REALLY DO NOT KNOW WHY WIKIPEDIA IS NOT BOTHERED ABOUT THAT INVOLVEMENT OF MONEY. ---චතුනි අලහප්පෙරුම (talk) 13:40, 2 May 2010 (UTC)
If you are still active on wiki, can you have a look at this article which I have prepared here User:Nvvchar/sandbox. You could examine in crtically, provide some additonal inputs ans also pictures of the place such as the garden, the tomb of sangamitta, or her painting or anything related to the subject. I am collaborating with Dr.Blofeld on this, and with you along we could post it as a joint article on DYK. It will be my first on Sri Lanka.Thanks.--Nvvchar (talk) 10:22, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
I hope you haven';t left wikipedia because of our friend leaving wikipedia. It would be a double blow to wikipedia and we rely on you two to fly the Sri Lankan flag on here and covers topics decently which otherwise would still be stubs or non existent. Who is going to write about Sri Lanka in detail without you around eh? I hope you will both return asap.Dr. BlofeldWhite cat13:18, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Is there way that I can translate some of the Buddhist articlea of Srilanka wikipedia into English. I may be doing some more Buddist artciles on Sri Lanka soon. Currently I am busy with Vietnam. Can you fix a suitable image for Sangamitta infobox? --N.V.V. CharTalk. 05:04, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
It looks pretty good. I made these edits. I didn't understand the 1996 comment. It looks a bit odd having the status key centred, and the climate zones left-aligned, they need to be the same. Personally, I'd put both the legends after the main table, not before. Are you going to FLC with this. Jimfbleak - talk to me?05:47, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
OK, thinking again about the presentation of the legends, the status bit looks a bit odd because you have 2-3-2-2 arrangement. However, you only actually use four of the symbols, so why not dump the others and have a single line of four symbols (or a 2x2 box)? The zone etc legends seem unnecessary, why not just expand the abbreviations in the table, which reduces the untidy legend and gives a direct link instead of having to check back to the key. It would only take a couple of minutes with Wikied or similar? Jimfbleak - talk to me?10:40, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
I think that's much less cluttered, and looks better. Thanks for offer, but it's just a matter of ploughing through and checking the data. I think I've seen all the endemics and proposed endemics; some, at least on appearance, seem quite convincing, but I'm not so sure about the swallow Jimfbleak - talk to me?14:22, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
On 22 July 2010, In the news was updated with a news item that involved the article Muttiah Muralitharan, which you substantially updated. If you know of another interesting news item involving a recently created or updated article, then please suggest it on the candidates page.
Hello, I just recently received a message from the Sinhala Wikipedia (or so I believe) but alas I cannot read a thing in Sinhalese? (I don't even know which noun is the language or which is the people!) I don't really know why I got such a message, but if I post a message here, would you quickly look over it and tell me the gist or basic idea of it? Curiousity is really bothering me :) If nothing else, at least you can tell me that it is or isn't in sinhala-ese or point me to somebody who may know how to read it? ---CodeHydro14:12, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again, though it's probably a lame automated message or something; looking forward to finding out what this is about ---CodeHydro14:56, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
The message you reserved in your Sinhala Wikipedia user page is more or less a translation of Template:Welcome-lk which is used by the Wikipedia:WikiProject Sri Lanka/Outreach department. The mail mentions about your watchlist and changes that you can make. I don't know why they have to mail it to the editors. I thought the way they welcome new users is highly inappropriate and done in little prematurely. I will start a thread in the Sinhala village pump regarding their welcoming practices and emailing. Hope I cast off all of your doubts. So cheer up! Regards--Chanaka L (talk)15:18, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks again for taking a look at it :) It is certainly unnecessary of them to welcome everybody and e-mail them, especially for those with a global wikimedia account who did not make a single edit for that particular language! ---CodeHydro16:24, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
Okay. I still suggest adding the two botanical gardens in the template since they are much close to zoological gardens. It would be nice if all south asian countries followed the same patterns for the wildlife. It makes easier for international readers. Thanks! Farjad0322 (talk) 12:13, 10 August 2010 (UTC)
