Thank you for participating in my RfAI just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for taking the time and effort to participate in my recent RfA. As you may know, the discussion closed 66/0/1 and I'm now a holder of the mop. I will keep working to improve the encyclopedia and appreciate the trust which you have placed in me. - Dravecky (talk) 00:12, 2 December 2008 (UTC) DYK for List of Presidents of IndiaBorgQueen (talk) 20:48, 4 December 2008 (UTC) battle of metzSo when are you working on that article? I pinky promise that I will edit that article a little more. Last on the briollete of India, only 28% of that article was helped by me (lol) --Spittlespat 02:37, 5 December 2008 (UTC)
Battle of Yu OcHi there, Thanks for your comments on this article. I've now fixed the inline references problem by adding detailed references from Lecomte, and will shortly be adding references from Huguet to complement Lecomte's. I don't expect these additional references to affect the basic footnote structure I now have in place. Djwilms (talk) 04:55, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

You have new messages at Backslash Forwardslash's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template. If you're interested.......would you like to help me expand 14"/50 caliber gun for a DYK? Pianista, if you see this, I asked Chamal 'cos he's actually interested in military history. :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 01:10, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
The snow story (p.s. I made this story up)It was the winter; Alex and Jayden loved to have snowball fights. Some of the other neighborhood kids, Nathan and Joseph, also loved to play with the two. It was always an equal team and everybody was good sports. The adults would walk by laughing as Nathan creamed Alex on the face with a big snowball or when Jayden would throw snowballs at Joseph and Nathan’s fort until it fell down. Every week the four would play and laugh as the snowballs whizzed here and there. Every week the adults would walk by chortling, and every week a kid called Tom would sit on a bench watching and enjoy the snowball fight, as if he was watching TV. Then one week Alex got very sick. He could not come to the big snowball fight. The group was very sad and began walking home, when Nathan spotted Tom. Nathan asked eagerly if he wanted to play, maybe if he did they could continue there snowball fun. Tom looked at Nathan and shyly said, “Yes!” The group cheered and as Tom joined Jayden’s team they had one of the best snowball fights ever. Boy, if only Alex was there, but wait when Alex recovers from his sickness and the teams are unequal, and then what will they do? The next week the group of five sat down and talked about the teams. Then a young teenager walked by, hearing there conversation, and then answering, “I’d love to play, may I join?!” Without another word the group said, “Yes!”--Spittlespat 01:15, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

Updated DYK templateHi, I'd just like to let you know what the template There have been some other minor changes—mainly, now if a DYK nominator lists himself as both "creator/expander" and "nominator," the "nominator" field ends up blank (so that what gets displayed is "Created by User, self nom" rather than "Created by User, nominated by User." Also, the fields, Please let me know if you experience any problems with the new template. —Politizer talk/contribs 15:31, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Removal of possible OR and biased info in the article 2008 SLA Northern offensiveThere is nothing biased or OR about the statements given, the government policy has been implemented, if you don't belive me here is a reference that backs up the claim [1]. I will cite the statement that confirms it so you could find it in the ref Sri Lanka’s defence ministry had decided in October to stop revealing daily casualty figures, saying they would affect military operations. If you would check I belive you could find on other sites something similar said. I will reinsert the paragraph you removed with this reference. I don't know about Sri Lankan media, and I have not heard anything about government websites giving the numbers. All of the numbers given by Reuters, BBC, CNN, AP and AFP in the alst two months have been based on reports by tamilnet. The military has just only started again to give sporadic reports of their casualties in the last 10 days since the LTTE started claiming massive SLA casualties about a week ago. Again the reports are only sporadic so they could counter the LTTE's claims of massive casualties (such is the propaganda war), but in November there was almost not even one report by the government itself in the international media on the number of dead, the only numbers were given by the LTTE. I am willing for a compromise, let's put this reference now that confirms the stop to revealing military dead, and you give me the URL of the website you say is giving the number of killed and will insert it too and I'll check out what those numbers are that are claimed by the government website and put them in the article, but I would prefer that the website is in English because I don't speak Sri Lankan, as I also belive that most of the other readers of Wikipedia don't speak Sri Lankan too, after all this is the english-speaking Wikipedia, no offense I hope. In any case, will wait for your reply. Cheers!89.216.235.147 (talk) 07:12, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
