So sorry Chamal, but I now have an 'Award' section on my UserPage. I tried to load the cookie you gave me onto it, but the vital part - the picture of a chocolate chip cookie - didn't load. Could you give me a cookie on my awards page, along with your original message to me? It was:Thanks for the compliment and cake :) Have a cookie. <then the cookie came up> and then your signature came up. Thanks a bunch! TopGearFreakTalk19:33, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
OK, done. You could do it yourself as Ed mentioned, or by going to the editing page of that section and copying the code :) Cheers. Chamaltalk11:32, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
I tried to copy+paste the information from your cookie into my award book before I wrote that bit up there to you, but the picture of the cookie didn't come up. Remember? I told you that already. I wouldn't ask you to do something for me if I couldn't do it myself. So nyeah Ed17!! :P Rasppp! That raspberry was not for you, Chamal. It's for Ed17 only. TopGearFreakTalk16:45, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, there's a space between the two parts in the cookie template (a line break). So maybe you selected only the lower part and didn't select the upper part. Sorry, I thought you weren't sure how to do it earlier; my mistake. I should read the comments more carefully :) Chamaltalk16:52, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Sure he's not my mom? :D There should be only one Chamal in WP, so I got to find him out and assassinate him. (well actually, there's one at User:Chamal, but he hasn't edited since his account was created 2 years ago, so he can live) Chamaltalk00:29, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I saw requests for the two articles Moon of Baroda and Star of the South at WP:OPEN, so I just googled and found out some sources and wrote them. I'm not an expert on the subject (in fact, I know nothing about diamonds or anything related to gemology). All I can do is provide a kind of overview based on what is in the sources, so I can't write them in depth. But thanks for the link, I'll definitely try to help :) Chamaltalk11:38, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
UserBox
Hey, I was looking through the Template UserBoxes and I saw one saying 'this user is friends with ____' Can I stick your name in there and put it on my UserPage? Because honestly, you are my Wikipedia best friend. Thank you! TopGearFreakTalk17:12, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

It would have failed WP:N. Turns out, this "pianiste" is no more than a regular, French MySpace pianist w/only several handfuls of views - in other words, a quasi-meme-like rip-off of moi,teh genuine pianista. —LaPianista(T•C•S)04:54, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Oh, but you could have tried to get a DYK out an article that was similar to it! But no, you decided to be lazy and only click yourself to death using Huggle. :D Just kidding—using Huggle is admirable too. :) —Ed 17for PresidentVote for Ed05:05, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah. If it wasn't for that little <small> tag you left there, you'd most likely be in the netherworld by now, Eddie... —LaPianista(T•C•S)05:35, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
(un-indent)Which reminds me, Cerberus also got a DYK on Halloween :) Anyway, since I don't have time to improve articles that much (which means I won't be getting GA or FA articles for a long time) I'm working on creating ones like this or expanding existing stubs, so I can get in at least some DYKs. 3 more are waiting to be passed here. Help me fill the main page with DYKs? Chamaltalk12:14, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey, Im sorry to differ with you but, facts are that the order of Order of Precedence of the SL army and any other commonwealth army is Armour, Artillery, Engineers, Signals, Infantry, Special Forces, Support Arms and Services & Volunteer Forces. That is why all volunteer units such as Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps, Sri Lanka National Guard & Sri Lanka Rifle Corps are at the end. The Mechanized Infantry Regiment is considered a Infantry unit hence it falls under the Infantry (last since its the newest infantry regiment) which comes before Special Forces. The Order of Precedence is not seniority but the place each regiment has when marching. The ref http://www.army.lk/regiments.php is accurate as is http://www.army.lk/org.php. The order of precedence in other armies are as follows;
Thanks. My big mistake then. I was under the impression that the template records seniority. I guess I should look at the heading more carefully before I go about adding stuff. Sorry about that. File:Blush.pngChamaltalk00:59, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

When you've had some experience with reverting vandalism and have a fair understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines, you can apply for rollback here, or you can ask from an admin. I think you can get it now. Sorry for the late reply, I didn't log in yesterday. Chamaltalk02:11, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Am not 100% sure as auto logging out can be a few different thing's. From my own personal experience the remember me check has been the culperate. I responded to tell the user to go straight back to the help desk if it occars again. P.S. I thought it would be more appropriate to respond to you here.--intrainingJack In15:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, I've come up with an alternative and posted it but I'm not perfectly happy with it. I give it some more thought. Let me know what you think. EA210269 (talk) 08:27, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
According to the protection log, the article was actually semi-protected between May 9th and November 9th. After six months, the protection expired, but nobody had removed the lock icon indicating that it was protected. I have removed the icon; however, based on the recent IP edits, the article is heading back towards protection again. Useight (talk) 16:49, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Naintal Lake
Dear Chamal,
Thank you very much for accepting my DYK hook. It has appeared on the mainpage but not yet on my talk page and dicussion page.
Sure, no problem :) Nainital Lake was a great article and it deserved to be featured on the main page. The credits will probably be done soon. It usually takes some time these days (not much, a hour or two maybe), since not many people are involved with updating the template.
Hi... Thanks for your note and the interest in reviewing my DYK. I've tried to clarify it. Do let me know if it helps. Maybe it would be better if I left out the snake and the thumb. What do you think? Thanks again. Les woodland (talk) 15:06, 14 November 2008 (UTC)les woodland
So how do you put pictures on wikipedia (and like I said on ed17's userpage I confess that I think emily browning is a little cute... :D :D)--Spittlespat21:19, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Hate to break it to you, but perhaps the safest way to obtain a picture of a celeb is to seek them out and take the pic yourself. Unless, of course, you want to go the long way around and negotiate with someone who owns a pic of Ms. Browning under a copyright. After that, you must promise to put it under fair use and use the picture exclusively on that article. For famous living persons, though, I think that the chances of lawfully getting access to a fair-use image are pretty slim.
But if I've completely missed your point (meaning you asked how to upload files in general), click on the link "Upload file" to your left, under "Toolbox." Follow the directions carefully, and don't forget to be über-descriptive when adding details about your media. —LaPianista(T•C•S)21:53, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
You are kidding me! how am I suppose to go up to emily browning, liam aiken, or freddie highmore and take a picture of them???!!! great... the good news is that I became a rollbacker!--Spittlespat21:59, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
Congrats on rollback! You can get Huggle now if you want. Yeah, I'll start the article this evening (my time, you'll probably be asleep then) and you can do your bit when you have time. But we have only 5 days to complete it. I'll do the initial draft, then you can add some more stuff to it. I'll give you the refs needed. When it's ready to start, I'll tell you on your talk page. About the images, well, I'm not familiar with the image policy that well, but the images do need to be free, as La Pianista said. There are some pictures in flickr that you can upload (only some, which have been released under creative commons and comply with Wikipedia's policy). Chamaltalk00:51, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Chamal, I think that you can assess the quality for all projects when you go crazy like that...I don't really know if that is discouraged, but it lessens the work for the contributors for each project. :) —Ed17(Talk / Contribs)01:03, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
Re: Briolette of India and other gems
Hi PFHLai! Thanks for your help with the article Briolette of India and nominating it at T:TDYK. I'll be adding more detailed info to the 'history' section tomorrow (I'm a bit busy right now), so there's no need to move the lead section to that part. So I'm re-adding that part to the lead. In fact, I was thinking of providing a chance for an inexperienced user to improve the history section, so that he can get some experience at article building. Thanks again, and please note that I'm not trying to own the article here ;) Chamaltalk13:43, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

You're welcome, Chamal, and thank you for creating the article. Since you and Spittlespat have plans for the article, I'll let you two have fun with it. Happy editing!
Ooh, that's a long one, isn't it? You'll have a lot of referencing to do. But since the list is complete (if not, it can be completed right?), if you're really enthusiastic about it I think it can be done. BTW, if you are thinking of getting an idea about FLs by looking at current FLs, don't do it. Take a look at newly promoted FLs in Portal:Featured content though, they'll be useful. The criteria seem to have changed and most of the existing FLs are according to old criteria, so you'd have to remake the whole thing again like what happened to poor me ;) My FL has only 19 people and very simple, so I'm not exactly an expert. But I'd be glad to help if you need it. Chamaltalk00:28, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
*shoves alter ego aside* Thanks, Chamal. I'll certainly need all the help I can get, especially considering the WP:CM folks can be serious POV-clingers. :) —LaPianista(T•C•S)00:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
hmm.... Don't you think the article about the diamond is kind of repetitive (repeated), the history and chararistics are very similiar to the first paragrpah, don't you think? And should I put on of those "this article is a sutb" kind of thing on the article?--Spittlespat03:14, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
OK, nice work! But I was expecting you to do more, rather than just minor fixes. I had left the whole history section for you, but never mind, we can go ahead with this. Expand that section more if you can, or I can finish it quickly (we have several hours more - have another go at it). As for the first paragraph, that is the lead section which provides an introduction to the article. So yes, it pretty much has the same things as the other sections, but in less detail - like a kind of overview. It's not that obvious in a short article like this, but if you look at a longer one (take a look at a GA or FA) you'll see what I mean. When the history section of our article is complete, it will have more details than the lead. Chamaltalk12:05, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! Now, let's see... I voted against your deletion, but then it wouldn't hurt to be careful :P La Pianista, was your one anthrax-free? Chamaltalk12:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Of course not! How WP:ABF could we be, accusing such a prolific editor of a murder attempt! Nonsense!
Chamal, I think that the two of us should, ah, keep this quiet for a time...at least until she gets permanent brain damage. This way, she can't insult us anymore... :D —Ed17(Talk / Contribs)03:53, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
What do you mean How is that of interest to us? You're trying to kill us. We have to get you out of the way before you do :D Chamaltalk12:04, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
I meant my amazing edit count is none of your business. My awesomeness is only surpassed by that most holy editor whom I have dedicated my life to serve. Bow down to the queen!
In the meantime, I will never rest 'till her murder is justified. I WILL BRING HER BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!!Onesy!
I saw you were listed on the "typo" team and thought you may be an appropriate person to contact. This article has the title mispelled. The snail is correctly named Angiostrongylus cantonensis (with the extra 'n' in the name). Can you help? See its talk page too. Thanks. --MartinezMD (talk) 06:40, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
I have moved the article to Angiostrongylus cantonensis, since what you have said seems to be true that this is the most common spelling. However, I'm leaving the original page as a redirect to the new page as there are a lot of sources with that spelling, and there may be people looking for the article under that name too. Thanks for mentioning this. Chamaltalk11:46, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Infobox
Hi Chamal,
I was asking a question about creating an infobox for my article.
Well, it seems that I am looking for Template: Infobox Company. However, my question is how to "customize" the infobox adding the info that I need and how to insert it in my article afterwards.
Yes, like that. For the parameters that you don't have the information for, you can just leave them blank. The infobox should be right on top of the article, before the prose. If you need any more help, please ask. :) Chamaltalk00:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Ahem...your sending me this guaranteed your loss...I'll just delay the articles that I was planning on sending to GA/FAC etc. :D :D :D :D —Ed17(Talk / Contribs)04:48, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Eventually, I'll get around to USS Oklahoma (BB-37) and USS Arizona (BB-39), but I don't know when. Actually...Chamal, would you be interested in helping me with one or both of these? We can split any points we get for the Cup (if we work on them that long)... Don't be offended, Pianista. He is a card-carrying member of WP:MILHIST, not you, so I figure that he might actually be interested. (I know that you only care for the PP, pianists and pianos.) :D :P No, just kidding. If all three of us work on one article, (and then +OllieFury +Icy for sure and +Spittle, +TopGear maybe) we could get it done pretty fast... any ideas, or do you want to use one of the ships above (that might be boring =])? (assuming you guys want to try this =D)—Ed17(Talk / Contribs)14:36, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
OK, sounds good. I've got exams till 27th, and after that I'll be editing a lot (I'll be at home mostly, I got suspended from school for 2 weeks... and then the vacation comes). Enough time to get ready; maybe get familiar with MoS. I haven't written a GA yet, should try that too ;D I'm ready to work with any article, you guys decide ;) Chamaltalk16:09, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Exams....fun...but suspended?!? What did you do? (if I can ask, of course...)
IMHO, the best way to get familiar with MoS is to take an article through a GAN/A-class review (if applicable)/ and, by far the most "helpful", FAC. ...you'll learn, well, fast. :)
Oh err.. we got into some trouble with the management. Two of our people (prefects) got suspended for something, and they didn't listen to our side of the story. So we requested the same punishments and the whole prefects' board resigned, plus the sports captains. And our wish also came true :D The school is in a right state now, anyway.
But getting back to this, I think you're right. Maybe I'll give GA a try... or should I wait until the tournament starts? ;) Chamaltalk00:13, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Sure, sounds good to me. I think I'll give the LOCBLVB a go for WP:FL sometime soon (dang acronym to throw you off. :D). It's actually better off than I thought it was - seems complete, and has a full reflist. But they lack in-text citations - which is really annoying. -_- —LaPianista(T•C•S)00:22, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

—Mizu onna sango15Hello!
Chamal N, I would like to thank you for your participation in my recent Request for Adminship, which passed with 112 supports, 4 opposes and 5 neutrals. A special mention goes out to Stwalkerster and Pedro for nominating me, thanks a lot for having trust in me! In response to the neutrals, I will try to double check articles that have been tagged for speedy deletion before I CSD them and will start off slowly with the drama boards of ANI and AN to ensure that I get used to them. In response to the oppose !votes on my RfA, I will check that any images I use meet the non-free content criteria and will attempt to handle any disputes or queries as well as I can. If you need my help at all, feel free to simply ask at my talk page and I'll see if I can help. Once again, thank you for your participation, and have a great day! :) TheHelpfulOne22:21, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Wha...? I said I'd help with it if you guys need, not lead it :) He asked you, so you're the lead adopter. I don't have experience anyway, so I don't think it'd be a good idea for me to be leading the adoption. What do you think? In fact, I'm feeling a bit nervous about it :P Chamaltalk01:39, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, the truth of the matter is, I think your program has much more integrity - and is miles more challenging. If you don't want to, though, I won't mind. —LaPianista(T•C•S)01:41, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Do you think he'd be OK with it? I mean, will he think it's too challenging? If you're thinking we should do it like mine, then I'm OK with it. Maybe we could make up the program first, and then divide it among us (You do the anti-vandalism and that kind of thing since you're the pro here, Ed can do article building since he has the most experience with it, and I can do policy etc since I'm no good) or should we do the lessons together as well? I'll make a kind of initial draft of the program in my sandbox, and we can discuss it and make any changes. Chamaltalk01:48, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
(out) Oh, he's a she? That's a mistake I hate to make, since this has happened to me often enough in my first few weeks here :P I think we should make it easier than mine though, unless she is crazy like me. Chamaltalk01:58, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Still...you haven't addressed my first issue. Sorry if this is bugging you; Ed isn't around, so you're my substitute for now. :P —LaPianista(T•C•S)02:00, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Mmmm... stalker! Oh, about the lead adopter thing? I guess I can do it, but I think Singlish speaker will be expecting you to do it since she asked you. Is Ed around? We could ask him.I should read the comments carefully before typing :D Chamaltalk02:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
B-but...I...*speechless* Gee, Chamal, that was only a one-time fling, I don't mean anything by it. :P Unless you...me...
Well, I don't even have one FA to my name. BTW, I don't think GA/DYK/FA/FL/FP's have anything to do with an 'edian's worth. Don't kid yourself - you've got an enviable amount of WP:CLUE. —LaPianista(T•C•S)02:21, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
But it doesn't feel right, somehow...Maybe there's some wiki-word for it ;P Having 12 lousy DYKs is not enough - mostly start class ones. Anyway, your 'area of expertise' is anti-vandalism and you do well in that area. Chamaltalk02:30, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
You still do it better than me, and what do you mean you don't have an FA? You've contributed to Madman Muntz. Anyway, take a look at the plan. It's pretty much a copy of my own, make any changes as necessary. Change it completely if you think there's any need. Chamaltalk02:37, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
I didn't do ANYTHING! :) I just gnomed it like I would any other article - so that FA doesn't belong to me by any means.
Oh well, I'm so used to that now, I guess I don't see that as something sinister any more ;) Now, I'm going to find a stub to expand, and get another DYK. Help me fill the main page wih DYKs! Have I asked you this before? Chamaltalk02:50, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
