Congratulations!Congratulations! Consensus having been reached, it is my pleasure to inform you that you are now an administrator on the English Wikipedia. Please take a moment to review the Administrators' reading list and the Administrators' how-to guide before using any of your shiny new buttons. :-) If you need assistance or advice, please feel free to request help from other administrators at the Administrator's Noticeboard and Administrator's Noticeboard for Incidents, or to leave a talk page message for me or any other admin. Again, congratulations! Also, just wanted you to know, I made a special note to sign back in tonight to make sure your RfA would be closed tonight; wouldn't want that record number of supports to have to wait until tomorrow! :-) Essjay Talk • Contact 02:28, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

But you're not leaving (m)any warning messages! That doesn't help admins reverting subsequent damage by the same users who need a history of warnings to justify a block. You could try the vandal warning toolbox to make it almost as easy as using the revert button, but it would be good if you would leave messages regardless of the means. --Kbh3rdtalk 19:11, 11 April 2006 (UTC) Western Betrayal concernsHi Can't Sleep. Thanks for reaching out to me. I'm a bit confused. I did just make a number of near all tiny edits, but what material in particular were you referencing? Thank you in advance for your patience and I do apologize in advance for any mistakes I made. I do not want to be a party to anything even resembling vandalism. Have a good day, --Gbinal 12:21, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
I just read your second message and now these msgs. Thank you for letting me know about that. I will try to be much more careful. A question (and again thank you for your input), but is there a doable way to look back down the list of my contributions to see if there were other such occurances? Rather, do I need to go back indefinitely in search of such major errors or are the ones you listed 'it'. I'll be quite careful from now on. --Gbinal 12:28, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
Changing the duration of a blockHi, Can't sleep, regarding this, if an admin blocks a user while a previous block is in effect, the shorter block is the one that actually "takes". So if you block someone for a week, and then think you've been a bit harsh and decide to change it to two days, then all you need to do is reblock for two days. However, if you block for two days and then think it's not enough, you need to unblock temporarily in order to extend the block. It's also a good idea, if you think a particular block is the right length, perhaps because you're familiar with the history of a particular vandal, to check the block log (at the top of the vandal's special contributions) a few minutes after you've blocked, just in case another admin saw one or two bits of vandalism without the personal abuse, and gave a short block without checking, just after your long block. By the way, you're doing great work. I was doing a bit of RC patrol, and every time I was about to rollback, I saw you had done it before me! AnnH ♫ 12:23, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Put on a "hoax" tag. Now the article says that the books are "self distributed". It looks like all the contributions of Starchaser65 (talk · contribs) may be questionable. In a few weeks, we will see if it is still widely circulating on the internet, which indicates that the owner is not bothering to enforce his right to exclusive use. Our fair use claim will be stronger if the image owner's laxity has already allowed the commercial value of the work to diminish. Furthermore, we should crop it down to just the bear (we have no fair use claim to depict the hunters, who also have publicity rights) and use a lower res than the original. bd2412 T 14:51, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. The circumstances surrounding the protection seemed a bit strange to me so my response was that the person requesting an unprotect should ask you, since you were the protecting administrator. There seems to be some reluctance to do that on the part of the user requesting the unprotect, so I thought I would leave you a message directly in case you care to weigh in at WP:RFP. Tots TV vandalI just noticed that you tried semi-protecting the Tots TV article for a few days. I tried that myself a month or two back and, while it keeps the Tots TV vandal off that one page, he just hits other pages. And the edits he makes to the Tots TV page are so distinctive, they are one of the easier ways to see that he's active. In general he's a low volume vandal. He uses one IP address a day, occasionally two, and once blocked that's it until the next day. And he tends to be spotted and blocked fairly quickly because of his distinctive edits, usually by Curps. Given all this, especially the fact that he just moves on to other vandalism when Tots TV is S-protected, I came to the conclusion after my test of S-protection that it was best just to leave it open, keep the page watched, and revert/block him each time he returns. - TexasAndroid 16:08, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

Block of school addressYou blocked this IP on 23rd of may for 99 hours. This is the IP (61.69.12.19) of my school's computer labs, is there any way to block anon editing whilst allowing legit users (such as myself) to contribute? Also, 99 hours is more han 4 days!, this IP will probably always cause trouble, but can you keep future blocks to <2 hours or so (the time in the computer room is divided into 1 and a half hour blocks). Green energy deletion reviewTemplate:user green energy- deletion endorsed, narrowly 17:33, 5 June 2006 (UTC) review Talk I see how it was called narrowly, Idea I Think it was 14 delete 12 keep. with only a 2 person difference. It is Just that the 56 people who are using the Template (inclusion) were never alerted that it was going to be deleted so the Template never had a notice and so one day the template just disappeared from the page so few would notice. I happened to use it on a sub page so my less directly Wikipedia related userboxes are out of the way. As soon as i realized the template was deleted it took me a while to find this page because there was not deletion review. After i finally found this page I made an offer to Subset the Template. I received no response (But somebody fixed my comment a little bit). I Think in this situation it would be appropriate to reopen the Of course I understand that only noticing people who are likely to Vote one way, but when only 12 people decide something that effects 56 others I think No Consensus is Appropriate. Not deletion endorsed. Nobody Objected to me going around subset ting all of them but nobody gave me the go-ahead ether. If I Do subset them it would be more difficult to find all the users. But it would still be possible. I would like To reopen the Debate and notify a few of the effected parties. At least enough to swing the Vote or require an Article For deletion Vote. I can understand a small body of people deciding things for a template one or 2 people use but because of the Popularity of this template it should not have been speedy deleted and the view rejected all with most the affected users unaware. It's just many Templates for deletion end in keep or Subset and this never got that chance. I'm not saying i want Wikipidia to be a Blog or a host sight. I'm just saying we should revote. These Templates are really valuable for finding articles I am interested in. If I see a user box i I like i read the article. However i agree we should not cloud our user page. For that reason i have these templates on a sub user page.--E-Bod 23:01, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

Report on Secure sign-in for AOL usersPer your request, an update on the use of the secure signin. I got permission from the technical people at work to use the link, and they streamlined my access down to one extra screen and two keystrokes. I have used the secure signin a number of times, and it has been helpful with the apparent increasing rates of autoblocks. But, I assume you are aware that the secure signin is also regularly blocked by autoblocks and must be released by an admin. So, three times in the last ten days, I have had both "signin" systems blocked at the same time, as the IP numbers rotate. So, overall, I don't think it is a real fix of the problem. Problem with chopping it up is that the Ceiling and the Last Judgement form an artistic and theological unit, regardless of the fact that they were done years apart, and ought not be separated. Also that section of the article links the characteristics and philosophy/theology of all three works. The only way to separate them would involve a lot more writing to put the comments on each in perspective. I'm inclined to start another page. I did some research and discovered that my friend (the monk) is on an ISP called "Watchdog" that blocks unsafe internet materials. It turns out that "CampusNet" uses this ISP, meaning schools everywhere in New Zealand, which would explain why there were various vandalism's happening from the IP he is on today. Possible vandalism?I noted an RC to List of Communists by Anon IP 200.178.22.27 and briefly reviewed the Talkpage and edit history. While the article is largely inactive it looked to me like the Anon was systematically deleting valid entries and the Talkpage comment would seem to confirm this. OTOH, I may be misinterpreting what I saw; perhaps the entries are being moved to a different article? If you get a chance to look into it I would like to know what you think. If this is vandalism, the Anon is being fairly subtle about it (note the time lapse between edits). Spawn Man 08:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC) Stevie Nicks revertRecently had an edit to article Stevie Nicks reverted. I added a notable incident about one of Stevie's late '80s tours during the height of her cocaine addiction. A search of Google reveals quite a few mentions of this incident with the first hit containing an interview in which the interviewee confirms the cocaine rumor. Would this incident, which is a major pop culture reference, appear better in a "trivia" section or something similar? Thanks, 68.13.236.96 06:19, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
block of 213.232.79.238Hi. Thanks for blocking the IP 213.232.79.238 but 31 hours? The IP is responsible for vandalizing 15 articles in 30 minutes after coming back from repeated blocks! Pascal.Tesson 12:48, 20 June 2006 (UTC) consider block of 195.188.173.98You reverted this IP's vandalism of Nile before I got on WP this a.m. (Calif. time) but if you look at this IP's talk page and block history, it's likely to be the same person over and over again rather than a gang of vandals. Please, let's have an end of this IP. Carlossuarez46 17:26, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
Banning of 212.219.230.135Hi, the referenced IP address is our local councils proxy which all schools in the area use for access to the Internet. We would actually be grateful if you can somehow ensure that this IP stays blocked as we know some of our students like to vandalism Wikipedia. block requested for 217.206.188.170Apparently a London school adress but countless vandalism since the latest of 4 blocks since march. Pascal.Tesson 04:25, 23 June 2006 (UTC) 217.33.74.20 blockI know 217.33.74.20 is frustrating, but please don't place lengthy blocks on this shared IP. violet/riga (t) 11:05, 23 June 2006 (UTC) Libellous vandalism from 217.33.74.20Your school network has been an ongoing source of vandalism which could be legally actionable due to its often libellous and defamatory remarks. Have you considered having your network administrator investigate the root cause of this problem? Can't sleep, clown will eat me 11:08, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
Gang StarrWhen you semi-protected Gang Starr, you forgot to tag the article with {{sprotected}}. I took care of it. Just so you know when you go to unprotect it. Oh, and this page could use an archive :-P --GraemeL (talk) 00:03, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
