FoolanoHey I removed my comments. I still don't understand your definition of major release vs notable, but it doesnt seem necessary to get involved on personal level. I think we have spoken our piece, so I'll leave it at that.--Foolano 02:19, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC) It's obvious, really: the major Hollywood studios release dozens of "major" films every year. Throw in independent and pseudo-independent movies, art-house pictures, and foreign-language films and it's a veritable flood every single year. And what makes any of these arguably major motion pictures, given the volume, notable? "Major release" is NOT a priori notable, clearly. So what qualifies as notable? Something that makes a movie stand out from the flood. Awards and/or nominations, critical acclaim, boffo box office (as Variety likes to say), pioneering technique, famous firsts or lasts (Alfred Hitchcock's first movie and Marilyn Monroe's last, not Lenny Henry's first and Raul Julia's last), or something particularly unusual enough to engender curiosity by a potential encyclopaedia user. Take the work of director Michael Cimino. His first movie was some Clint Eastwood caper flick (Thunderbolt and Lightfoot) -- not very notable. His second (The Deer Hunter) won a boatload of Oscars -- obviously notable. His third (Heaven's Gate) was the biggest box-office flop of its time and essentially bankrupted United Artists Studio -- notable for either, really. His subsequent movies (two more, I believe, though I haven't tracked them) are notable only for their obscurity. The choices are a judgement call, but some of them are easy. Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle is borderline -- it makes your list but not mine, but I'm not quibbling over that. I AM quibbling over the thought that anything connected with it -- director, screenwriter, random references and in-jokes -- comes even close to being notable. --Calton 10:40, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC) HelloCalton, I'm not mad. He doesn’t like it, so he reverts. He is now in revert war mode. He hides his work behind anonymous IP. The comment from anonymous is kind of psychedelic, in the same mood of the article. Public TheaterYou recently merged info from "Public Theater" to The Public Theater. Unfortunately, the article - when originally written - was tagged incorrectly. When I created the article correctly tagged "Public Theater," I did so because Wikipedia could not locate an entry when I searched for "Public Theater" (apparently Wikipedia's search engine doesn't eliminate "A" and "The," otherwise it would have found the existing article, the creator of which - by the way - copied most of the material verbatim from the official website.) In any event, I find I can no longer move the article to the correct tag of "Public Theater," as Wikipedia believes such an article already exists. Do you have any idea how to rectify this mistake? TOM 14:07, Dec 10, 2004 (UTC) Article LicensingHi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Hi - I noticed you created this category. According to the Wikipedia:Naming conventions this category should be category:Cities and towns in Saga Prefecture. Renaming a category is not currently possible by any means other than deleting the old category and creating a new category. Krzysztof Zbaraski, a merchant?Could you point to any source for that member of the mercantile class...)? There was a vast gulf between merchants and nobility in PLC. I am building one major article at Impotence. Hold on a moment until I am finished then take a look and if you don't like it you can add your bit to change the landscape. I don't engage in revert wars so you won't find me to be a problem. I like to write and edit and I saw a huge mess that no one had to date linked together. But if you don't like it you have my okay to do your own thing if you think that your way is better. On the other hand once you take a look at what I am doing once I have finished it (almost done), then you might want to help create one great article instead of leaving 4 to 5 stubs floating around. The allegation was that you and Exploding Boy were accounts of the same person. It was made on Robert the Bruce's user page as part of his evidence there. There was no background or reasoning given for the allegation, so I don't know what caused this belief - but it doesn't really matter anyway because it was clear from the technical evidence that there is no connection (I had already reviewed the edit history evidence and not found any indication there of sockpuppeting). You'd be unlikely to get any help about them from peer review even if I left them, because what you ask is not the kind of thing reviewers want or expect to help with—please see the top of the page for the purpose of peer review, and also the peer review removal policy. Personally, I totally agree with you about those pictures. Have you tried being bold and removing them yourself, with an explanatory note on the talk pages? Peer review listingsHi, Calton. I'm sorry any of what I wrote offended you, on any page, and surprised too. I wasn't particularly "passionate" about removing the listings (Ta bu shi, if you're going to insult me, have the good grace to do it in front of me, etc. ;-)), more concerned to tell you about better venues. "Insult" is certainly a strong word, and I do regret that I gave occasion for it. Insulting you was the furthest thing from my thought.
