ClarificationThank you for the welcome message! I know it may sound a bit ... well ... unorthodox for us to be editing information on our Wiki about ourselves ... but we're striving to maintain accuracy on the site. We recently looked at the Wikipedia page as we were exploring what all was out there in cyberspace that talked about or mentioned us. We're hoping to make some clarifications, some additions and subtractions, and all-around make the information on the page look better. I'm working hard to not pitch anything (no pun intended) on our team's Wikipedia page, and we view this as a place for factual information only. We invite you to please take a look at the edits we make and moderate them somewhat, if that would make our edits more appropriate for this forum. Regarding the addition of links to our facebook and twitter sites, as I understand the exemptions for these otherwise less-than-appropriate links, these are sites controlled by our organization completely. Wouldn't they be OK, then, for inclusion at the bottom of our Wikipedia page since it invites the reader to see what the organization is saying about itself? Otherwise, the historical data we're changing comes directly from the official Texas League Media Guide, which unfortunately is not in a digital format. That, and team archives. We're trying to ensure this information - particularly historical data - is completely accurate. We're also hoping to include items of interest, such as single-game ticket prices and a current stadium seating chart. Please let me know if this is OK! Thank you so much for your attention! Tectonic weaponI've removed the 7-day delete template which was inserted for a second time by User:Steve Quinn from Tectonic weapon. The template clearly says "If this template is removed, it should not be replaced". I have added to the article and discussed it in detail in the Talk page. If you think that it should be deleted please trigger the normal deletion process, with discussion. Do remember that the article, though somewhat expanded, is no more than an initial stub; we are discussing whether the article should exist, not whether it is reasonably complete or polished (which it isn't). As there are several people involved, maybe better to discuss this in the article's discussion rather than here. For the benefit of anyone who sees this comment, I'm not trying to say that these weapons actually exist, simply that the topic is notable. Best wishes Pol098 (talk) 18:45, 12 February 2010 (UTC) ProtectionsPerhaps I interpret the policy more conservatively, but Shakira for six months? There is a lot of vandalism, but that's to be expected when the page is receiving 10,000 hits a day (the 218th most-viewed article)... Note that I'm not disagreeing with you persay; I am just trying to learn your rationale to see if I should alter mine. :) —Ed (talk • majestic titan) 05:00, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Block this editor!I made a foolish promise. I wrote (my user talk page) that if Finland did not win the women's hockey bronze, I would quit WP for 2 weeks. They won! Then I said if Finland did not win the men's hockey gold, 2 weeks. I should not have made such a promise. To enforce it, could you block me for 14 days because "Block according to agreement: Finland did not win the gold medal in men's hockey". I do not like to be blocked but a promise is a promise and this will help enforce it. Fuck! Suomi Finland 2009 (talk) 01:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)

Hey, Caknuck. I took a look at this user's edits, and they actually do appear to have been valid edits. As their unblock request states, the text being removed probably should go per WP:BLP, and none of the images are acceptable per NFCC. If the user agrees to discuss edits before reverting in the future, would you be willing to unblock them? Thanks for your time. Hersfold (t/a/c) 20:18, 8 March 2010 (UTC)
Thank you for reconsidering the protection. It was, as you saw, a real problem and a hindrance to constructive editing. Hopefully this will get the IP addresses to register and discussion can be had. Joe407 (talk) 20:36, 14 March 2010 (UTC) Quick Question for clarificationRe the Brian David Mitchell protected page or merge into 'Elizabeth Smart Kidnapping'. I realize that you turned down the request but I believe some basic info is overlooked there because a) the community discussion is rather outdated and b) there is a lot more info in public arena for it to not be a WP:1E situation anymore for Mitchell. I wrote this on the unprotected request, Not unprotected The merge was done as a result of a community discus...04:18, 14 March 2010 (UTC) back in 2007 one could've argue that Mitchell was a WP:1E but today there is more about him and more non related events as his children have made public; plus the discussion now archived centered on the biographical article for elizabeth smart and not Mitchel per say, but today there is a separate bio article on Smart anyway (hence that community discussion is outdated) but the Mitchell one reverts to the kidnapping article -seems to be incorrect that way. Also I had opened a discussion in the talk page a week before requesting unprotect but there were no responses so surely today in 2010, no one seems to oppose a new article for him, so can you please reconsider you decision?115.128.25.68 (talk) 11:06, 14 March 2010 (UTC)" I ask again because the reasons you gave to deny the unprotect I feel are not accurate, since, as before, the discussion on the merge was more on Smart rather than Mitchell and it is way out of date today, since Smart has her own bio page. Lorraine Leckie and her DemonsHello, I recently posted a Wiki article about Lorraine Leckie and her Demons and it was deleted for copyright infringement. The website cited as the original post was written by me. So it can't be infringement - it would be me plagiarizing me! Can I talk with you about how to clear this up? A side event to the Bacon Challenge is the Bacon WikiCup 2011, an event where participants in the Bacon Challenge have a chance to score points for creating and expanding bacon-related content material, all while trying to score as high as they can. Be sure to submit all your bacon-related contributions to the submissions page in order to score points. At the end of the Cup, the winner will get a nice trophy along with all other participants receiving a medal for their efforts (virtual, of course; don't go waiting by your mailbox for it). NoruweiNoMori (talk) 06:29, 8 October 2012 (UTC) Continued discussion RE my request at WP:RPPHi, first of all, thanks for the reply at RPP here. I'm continuing the discussion here since it'll likely be buried by the maintenance bot fairly soon. Regarding your last point about articles not being complete until they are FA, I'd actually say quite the opposite. With a lot of FAs, there will be a lot of information that comes out in the future that could be added by IPs, but for past events, there won't be any information to be added anymore. As soon as one numbered UFC event takes place, another one replaces it as the newest one. Now since there is no more information to come out about these events, after they've taken place, surely it makes no sense to leave them open to IP vandalism? I mentioned watchlisting earlier and I do have each of the pages on my watchlist, but it's difficult to keep track of all of the pages, when I have 1000 pages on my watchlist. Since there will be no new information that comes out regarding these events, would you not agree it makes sense to semi-protect them? Thanks. Paralympiakos (talk) 12:22, 11 May 2010 (UTC) You Deleted a Page Titled "Zeale 32"I was just wondering why you deleted the page titled "Zeale 32." How do you determine when a public figure is sufficiently notable? Zeale32Fan (talk) 05:34, 6 June 2010 (UTC) Re Brian David MitchellI've just done a quick draft on Mitchell, as you suggested back in March. Please see at User:Wombat24/Brian David Mitchell. If its on the right track I'll finish it off but if you think that it still can't work then I wont spend anymore time on it. Please let me know? Note that , although the wiki rule of being know for only one event is understandable and necessary, Mitchell is now technically know for several events: 1)the 2003 kidnapping, 2)the first set of state trials, 3)his signing in court and incompetency rulings, 4) the rejection of medication ruling by state courts, 5) his links to mormonism and the issues surrounding it (re http://www.sunstonemagazine.com/pdf/129-34-45.pdf), 6) the all new recent federal court process and resulting competent ruling, and then 7) this next November a new trial over the actual kidnapping. There is a large amount of public information covering all these events and today the legal battle to declare him competent is almost more newsworthy than the actual single kidnapping event. Also note other articles which cover a 'one event' as in the case of Curtis Allgier, a much lower amount of related items: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curtis_Allgier . So shouldn't we expect to find a separate article in Wikipedia on Mitchell? Wombat24 (talk) 04:39, 5 June 2010 (UTC)

Removing Bacon Challenge 2011 coming to a closeDear ever-so-valiant Bacon Challenge 2011 participant: Almost a year ago, the Bacon Challenge 2011 kicked off for the third year in a row with the annual mission of expanding and bettering Wikipedia's coverage of bacon. We are almost at the end of this year's Bacon Challenge, which ends on March 1st. I am pleased to say that, during this time period, Bacon Challenge participants have done a great job. Ten new pages have been created. Two articles have been granted the status of being good articles. Over one hundred reliable sources have been placed into articles, and over 7,500 words have been added. Six articles have been featured on Wikipedia's main page under the "Did you know..." section. These are all excellent results. The Bacon WikiCup has also been exciting to watch. Contributors have been racking up more and more points as the deadline approaches. As I post this message, Worm That Turned is in the lead, with Cirt in second, and Acather96 in third. Cirt currently has created the most new pages, while Worm That Turned has done the most work in expanding articles and achieving DYKs. Acather96 has done the most work with image uploads. Remember, while the Bacon Challenge is ending in just a few days, it's not too late to make any last-minute contributions to get a few more Bacon WikiCup points. Everyone who contributes at least something will earn a virtual commemorative medal, so if you haven't contributed anything bacon-related to Wikipedia, now's your chance. Contributions can be submitted up until the end of March 7th, but only for contributions that were done before the beginning of March. The extra week is provided for participants to report any last-minute contributions, and to allow for any contributions that require a timely process (such as a good article or DYK nomination) to go through. At the end of the event, scores for the Bacon WikiCup will be completed and re-checked, and prizes will be distributed. Thanks and good luck! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 04:12, 21 February 2011 (UTC) Bacon WikiCup 2011 Award

Silvergoat (talk∙contrib) Invitation to the Bacon Challenge 2012Hello! You have been invited to take part in the Bacon Challenge 2012. In case you don't know or need a refresher, the Bacon Challenge is an annual celebration of bacon on Wikipedia in which editors come together to help create, expand, and improve Wikipedia's coverage of bacon. The event lasts all the way through National Pig Day 2012, giving participants plenty of time to work at their pleasure. In addition to the Bacon Challenge is the Bacon WikiCup 2012, a side event to the Challenge in which all bacon-related contributions done by those participating in the Challenge are submitted and scored by the scorekeeper (me) based on the scoring chart. At the end of the Challenge, the user with the most points in the Bacon WikiCup will win a shiny trophy for their userpage. In addition, the users who score the highest in specific categories (not yet finalized, but the categories include most image uploads, most article creations, most DYK submissions, and more) will win barnstars. Finally, all participants will receive a medal. While the awards are nice, in the end, the important thing is to have fun and enjoy what we're all here for, which is improving Wikipedia. If you decide to participate, great! You may add your name to the participants list at the main page of the Bacon Challenge 2012, and pick up the userbox for your userpage if you desire. Signing up for the Challenge will also automatically enter you into the Bacon WikiCup. If you don't wish to participate, that's fine too - maybe next year! In the meantime, if you know anyone who might also be interested in participating, feel free to invite them! The Challenge is open to anyone and accepts participants at any time, so feel free to let anyone who might be interested know. Note that I, the scorekeeper of the Bacon WikiCup, will be on vacation starting on the 18th of June all the way up until the 5th of July. I will have limited access to the internet, so I may or may not be able to score users' contributions during this time. Sorry for any delay in scoring (but since the Challenge lasts for more than half a year, there's no rush, right? (= ). I'm looking forward to another fun, successful year. Thanks! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 22:46, 17 June 2011 (UTC) Non-free rationale for File:Redstripe.jpgThanks for uploading or contributing to File:Redstripe.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale. If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
