I'm not quite sure how to post this request to WP:MESO so I figured I'd drop this in your lap and ask you to shepherd it to the right place.
Someone pointed out that there is a contradiction in an earlier revision of the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire article that says that Cortez wrote about the Quetzlcoatl myth to King Charles V and that he didn't. I don't know enough to resolve the contradiction so I figured I'd ask you to find someone who does and fix the problem.
Hey Richard, long time no chat. Thanks, will look into the details. The wp:meso general board has the shortcut WT:MESO, comments posted there will generally draw some project folks' response after hopefully not too long a wait. Cheers, --cjllwʘTALK08:23, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Hi. It wasn't my intention to upset you, but having your contribs rearranged or even removed is a daily occupational hazard of editing—for all of us—I'm afraid. I explained on your talkpage why the article was redirected, and also pointed out that you'd be welcome to try and insert that info into an appropriate existing article someplace. I did not want to do that myself because I believe it would need considerable reworking, and IMO its premise is questionable, at least in the manner in which that source states it. But like I said, no need to be discouraged, getting one's contributions to stick around in articles is a collaborative process, and the better qualified the statement and its sources, the better the chances it will hang around in the long run. Congratulations Ling! Excellent, now we know what to post when someone asks "Is there a doctor present in the audience?"·Maunus·ƛ·11:31, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm more of an applied linguist than a traditional one... in some respects I'm an uppity English teacher. If you desperately need someone to explain why there should be no comma after "hence" in a sentence that uses a semicolon to join two independent clauses, I'm your guy. :-P Thanks! Heh! Excellent news, and well played Dr Ling sir! It's a comforting thought to know operations on my convoluted prose can now be carried out by a qualified doc...
Curious thing: talking of independent clauses, you might get a laugh out of the defacement of that very article that I reverted only moments ago, with some reluctance I might add. I had half a mind to leave some of those new examples in there. But half a mind is more than I can spare; so... --cjllwʘTALK13:25, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
