Speedy deletion nomination of Glendora Emily/sandboxHello Brianda (Wiki Ed), I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Glendora Emily/sandbox for deletion, because it's a redirect from an article title to a namespace that's not for articles. If you don't want Glendora Emily/sandbox to be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks! Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer. Bungle (talk • contribs) 21:46, 31 May 2023 (UTC)

You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, move subpages when moving the parent page(s), and move category pages. Need help requestHi Brianda, I completed the evaluating articles and sources, plagiarism, and policies trainings on wiki and they were marked as completed but they no longer are. Instead, now I just have the option to start all of them even though I've done them. Is there a way for my professor to still see that I have done them or a way to make sure this does not happen again with future trainings? Stellandmace1004 (talk) 16:46, 17 September 2023 (UTC)

Is this our selection for the article we're making? do we pick 3 or 5 articles to evaluate? Is it something else entirely? Do we need to pick low quality articles and evaluate them, or high-quality articles and evaluate them? Sorry, the instructions didn't make a lot of sense to me. QueryHello, Brianda, You left a User and User talk page message for User:Aina JR but this is not a registered account. This sometimes happens with Wiki Ed when an editor changes their username but I don't see this happening with this editor. Do you expect this account to be created or has this editor dropped the course? Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 23:13, 4 October 2023 (UTC)
Hello, Brianda. It appears almost certain that this student editor deliberately added a significant amount of hoax content to Wi-jún-jon at 19:47 March 7, 2023. I removed the hoax content today, and added a well-referenced description of his death. I know that the course is over, but this seems to be serious academic misconduct. Should the instructor be informed? By the way, this is being discussed at WP:Teahouse#Conflicting death dates. Thanks for any input that you can provide. Student peer review questionsHi Brianda, found you through Wikipedia:Wiki Ed/University of Maryland, College Park/The Free Internet (FA23). I was just looking at the feedback form the participants are using for peer review. I found the initial prompt, "Has the Lead been updated to reflect the new content added by your peer?", to be perhaps a bit unnecessary. If the new content is significant, this is handled by the other questions already in that section, if it is not significant then perhaps it should not result in a lead adjustment, so the question seems counterproductive. Other than that, I like the questions, although I note "Are the sources thorough?" is a very high standard question that bedevils even the most advanced Wikipedian! Mainspace contributions from recent courseHi Brianda, thanks for all you do for Wiki Ed! I wanted to quickly flag for your attention the project in this course. I organically stumbled on 2 students' mainspace contributions and checked the recent contributions of a third, all from within the last few days. From what I scanned through, only one of the students made edits appropriate for mainspace (and all were malformed). I'm not sure if this indicates a process in the course going awry or if these are just normal beginner edits independent of the course, but just in case I wanted to flag it for your attention! review sandboxHi Brianda, thank you for your feedback last week and I have made changes per your feedback from last week. Would you me able to review it? Thank you. HelloIAMSME (talk) 23:25, 8 November 2023 (UTC) Student's assignment on one of non-notable topicsAs I have discovered, as part of some assignment, one of the students attempted an article on "Sophie Clarke", who has been deemed not notable enough for stand-alone article per AFD discussion. I discussed this with the instructor, but she has yet to reply. What else to do about this? George Ho (talk) 00:44, 10 November 2023 (UTC) "Speedy deletion" for contents of public declarationsHi Brianda, I recently created the page declaration of sexual pleasure (Talk:Declaration of Sexual Pleasure#Contested deletion), but was given notice of a speedy deletion, I assume because I quoted the contents of the declaration. This is done in other, existing wikipedia pages (see: Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Declaration of Sexual Rights). I have removed the contested content for now and have contested the deletion. Is there a way I can quote from the document so that readers can understand the specific declarations, without copyright infringement? Thanks! Plantbella (talk) 17:29, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

ArbCom 2023 Elections voter messageHello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add Adding cover image to a novel's Wikipedia pageHi Brianda, Earlier today, a Wikipedia page was created for Sundown (novel), a text we have been researching for the past three months for our WikiEducation course. My group mates and I have secured rights for the cover image from the University of Oklahoma Press, however, we ran into a few issues. 1. After granting us the rights to Sundown's cover image, the University of Oklahoma Press suggested we "seek additional permissions from the artist's estate." The cover image artist is Mars Biggoose. At the moment, we cannot reach his estate nor do we have information that the estate exists. 2. The Sundown (novel) page lists both Pearson Longman and University of Oklahoma Press as publishers, and we only have rights from one of them. How would you suggest we move forward with the cover image? Will Wikipedia allow us to place the cover image in the Infobox? Thank you! Peony**23 (talk) 02:48, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
Question Regarding the Etruscan Religion Page as a Wiki-Ed StudentHello Brianda! Firstly, thank you for your help so far with our Ancient Roman Religion Wikipedia assignment. I was hoping for some guidance on what to do with an issue I have encountered in my journey to making a Wikipedia. I found in the Priests and Officials section of the page, there was no citation for the second paragraph, and it mentioned a term, nethstra that I had not encountered. Due to this (after searching through academic databases), I brought it up to my Professor, Dr. Rask, and she confirmed what I feared, there was no basis for any of that paragraph. I think the best course of action would be to delete this paragraph, but I wanted to run it by you first since I am still new to editing Wikipedia. Thank you for your time! Cheeks) it was deleted and I didn't have a chance to contest the deletion nor make the suggested updates. You visited our class with Dr. Grady and noted you would be of assistance. Is this something you're able to assist me with? Tracy Tecasm (talk) 16:38, 6 December 2023 (UTC) Student article collisionSocial media is assigned to students in both of these classes:
both of which list you as the wiki-expert. This is not the first time I've flagged this sort of problem in Wiki-Ed projects. File:Photograph of Dalton Wells Historical Marker.jpg was uploaded locally to Wikipedia (and also to Wikipedia Commons under the same name as c:File:Photograph of Dalton Wells Historical Marker.jpg) by one of the students in Wikipedia:Wiki_Ed/Brigham_Young_University/The_United_States_Since_1877_-_Section_002_(Fall_2023), but it has been nominated for deletion. It's hard to blame the student here since the Flickr photo does appear to be acceptably license; the problem, however, is with the Flickr account holder since the photo they took is a WP:Derivative work (i.e. a photo of someone else's copyrighted work) and they can't claim copyright ownership over what they've photographed. This kind of thing can be complicated when assessing for Wikipedia's purposes, but the copyright status of the noticeboard itself needs to be considered in addition to the copyright status of the photo. I'm not sure if the Wiki Ed modules cover this kind of thing, but that's why the file was nominated for deletion by Explicit. Perhaps you could explain this to the uploader and advise them to keep it in mind when looking for other photos to upload. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:08, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
