Impossible-to-find Cantonese vegetableHi, I just saw a vegetable listed in a Vietnamese cookbook with a Cantonese-sounding name of suit-nei-hoong. The cookbook is bilingual so the Vietnamese translation given for this vegetable is "cải dưa" (literally "melon cabbage." A Google search turns up only 2 hits for this romanization, one of which is a HK menu that gives 雪菜 (Mandarin "xue cai." Any idea what the hanzi for "suit-nei-hoong" is? We may need an article on it. Badagnani 05:29, 22 October 2007 (UTC) A further search shows that it may be a special cultivar of Brassica juncea (var. Crispifolia). Badagnani 05:31, 22 October 2007 (UTC) Could it be 雪里红? Badagnani 05:32, 22 October 2007 (UTC) Looks like it might be "potherb mustard," popular in Zhejiang.[1] Badagnani 05:34, 22 October 2007 (UTC) Photo. Badagnani 08:01, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:TiananmenSquareIMincident2.jpg)Thanks for uploading Image:TiananmenSquareIMincident2.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media). If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I just tagged the sentence on propaganda in the PRC regarding this incident as staged or somehow fake as dubious because it lacks citations and wanted to give you a friendly notice. Since you're apparently the person who added the statement, would you know where reliable citations regarding that claim can be found? Alternatively, checking the main page on the controversy turns up a bunch of controversy and it might be better to refer readers there to maintain neutrality. Removal of {{pui}} tagsPlease do not remove these tags. It is not a way to avoid deletion of an article, nor to indicate that a potential problem has been resolved. The tag clearly states "If you don't want the file deleted, please provide explanatory information about the copyright status of this image. Please do not remove this notice while the question is being considered." In much the same way as AfDs, these are to draw attention to a debate listed centrally, so removal could potentially stifle debate - both arguments for or against. Replaceable fair use Image:Raymond-Chow.jpgThanks for uploading Image:Raymond-Chow.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast (talk) 20:39, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

WikiProject Food and Drink Newsletter January 2008WikiProject Food and Drink Newsletter January 2008 Replaceable fair use Image:TsuiHarkpic.jpgThanks for uploading Image:TsuiHarkpic.jpg.
You are obviously passionate about the subject and put a great deal of effort into these pages. It's an interesting topic for me as well, and I hope we can work together to improve these articles going forward. I assure you that I am quite non-partisan on the topic, and have no interest in promoting either one of the orthographies. I am more interested in how their usages differ and the interaction of the different orthographies with the cultures of different regions such as mainland China, Hong Kong or Taiwan. --PalaceGuard008 (Talk) 04:41, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Speedy deletion of Sweet potato soupA tag has been placed on Sweet potato soup requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding Sweet potato soupIt's nothing personal, I just caught it while perusing around through "Recent Changes". It didn't appear notable enough to warrant its own entry so I tagged it. I noticed that you already got a {{hangon}} up, so if you can provide the appropriate info that's fine. scandalHmmmm, the recent scandal about Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan, Cecilia Cheung and Edison Chen has hit hard in Hong Kong and people are pouring in to edit thier pages. I know its real and stuff and after seeing those photos personally, even I could dismiss the artists claims of photoshopping and doctoring. After that, a news report said the police have CAUGHT a person who stole "an artist's" (edison) personal computer, and charge him for stealing and defamation etc etc. Which made me believe it more so. Anyway, how can we put all this into appropiate words and how on earth are we supposed to find references? Fair use rationale for Image:ShanghaiFilmGroup.jpgThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:ShanghaiFilmGroup.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged. As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. The scandal surrounding the celebrity sex photos has captivated the Chinese-speaking world and many other nations. Newspapers, internet sites and television stations have provided extensive coverage of the scandal, and Edison Chen Koon-hei's apology yesterday was run on most of the world's top news sites. Expatriates in Hong Kong have reported repeated requests from friends back home for links to sites showing the pictures and information about the stars. Many popular celebrity gossip internet sites have published the nude pictures and run daily commentaries on the saga. Tens of thousands in Taiwan forgot work to watch yesterday's press conference. All Taiwanese stations broadcast it live. Interpreters were on hand to give simultaneous Chinese translations of Canadian-born Chen's English confession. Cable stations reran segments hourly. The steamy photos have become the talk of Taiwan, especially as they coincided with the Lunar New Year holiday. Mainlanders were also fascinated. Popular websites such as Sina.com, Sohu.com and 163.com carried Chen's press conference live and offered a word-by-word translation. Meanwhile, the photos posted on the popular chat room Tianya.com have been viewed nearly 20 million times a day by mainland internet users. Mainland police have warned internet users they will be breaking the law if they access the pictures or pass them on. Police have arrested 10 people for producing, selling or buying some of the photos.

additional content on Cantonese Cuisine pageThe following additional content on Cantonese Cuisine page and an external link look like appropriate. I was wondering why you did not like it. Cantonese cuisine (粤菜) is known for its sometime use of ‘exotic’ ingredients. A famous proverb illustrates the variety of Cantonese food: "anything that walks, swims, crawls, or flies with its back to Heaven is edible." However, these exotic foods are not eaten that often. Cantonese cuisine (粤菜) stresses freshness of ingredients and correct cooking method. Ingredients are usually prepared with a light touch, just enough cooking and seasoning to keep the original color of the material and the natural flavors of the foods. 208.109.109.173 (talk) 03:54, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
