sources of informationHi Becky, I am trying to set up a Wikipedia page on my grandfather Tang Zhe Ming. I took the information from 2 sources: 1. http://baike.baidu.com/view/195332.htm It is my understanding that Baidu Baike is the Chinese language collaborative web based encyclopedia provided by the Chinese search engine Baidu (it is explained as such when you look up Baidu Baike). When you go to the site, all the information is written in Chinese, but if you right click it gives you the English translation. I pretty much kept to their translation but cleaned up the English. I wanted this information available to non-Chinese speakers because I am writing a Wiki on my father and I wanted to set up a link to my grandfather so they could trace my father's background. 2. A book published by the People's Republic of China's government, titled. "The Founding Generals of the People's Republic of China". This book is also completely in Chinese. ISBN 7-80109-984-2 I would appreciate your feedback. Thank you. IFTango (talk) 07:09, 16 August 2015 (UTC) This week's article for improvement (week 34, 2015)

note that drafts do expire, per WP:G13, unless fresh new edits are saved every few monthsHi Becky, ran across this diff on a talkpage,[1] and wanted to let you know that drafts do get deleted when they haven't been edited for six months or so. There is a bot which puts out a warning-message to the usertalk of the originator of the draft, I believe a month in advance, see User:HasteurBot. People are free to leave their drafts kinda-sorta indefinitely, but they have to come by every three months or so and make a tweak, to reset the clock and thus avoid the deletion-bot. Just leaving you this note as an FYI, no action is needed -- the former draft in that thread above was already mainspaced, and is thus safe from the bot. :-) 75.108.94.227 (talk) 11:55, 9 September 2015 (UTC) This week's article for improvement (week 38, 2015)

Regarding date correctionHi Becky, In an article Manorama, the date of death mentioned is 10 october, 2015, but according to Indian news outlets: http://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/regional/legendary-tamil-actress-manorama-dies-at-78/ and http://www.ptinews.com/news/6601331_Legendary-Tamil-actress-Manorama-no-more.html reported death time is 12:05 AM IST, so technically the person died on 11 Oct, not on 10 Oct as mentioned in the wiki page, can you please look into this, as it may be a trivial issue, but here is difference of date. I tried to change it, but it got reverted. Thanks, This week's article for improvement (week 42, 2015)

Bot automation at Wikipedia:Today's articles for improvementGreetings WikiProject TAFI members! Over the past two weeks, there has been extensive discussion on introducing bot automation to assist with maintenance of the Today's Articles for Improvement project. A bot has now been approved for trial and will carry out the weekly duties. The bots first run will occur around 00:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC) (midnight on Sunday). If you have been assisting any of the weekly maintenance tasks, please refrain from doing so this week. The bot needs to be tested and proven it can do the job, and it only gets one chance per week. The tasks will include:
Updating the accomplishments and archiving selections is still done manually, along with daily tasks such as adding approved entries to the articles for improvement page. These will become automated in the near future. We hope the bot proves to serve well, and by carrying out the routine housekeeping tasks we can boost the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the project. MusikBot thanks you for your service in helping with the weekly tasks in the past, and for your cooperation during this trial period :) Posted by: MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:48, 21 November 2015 (UTC) on behalf of WikiProject TAFI • for all project notifications This week's article for improvement (week 48, 2015)

MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:47, 6 April 2016 (UTC) Winchester, Nevada and Enterprise, Nevada as nearby communities to Las Vegas, NevadaI'm not the one who left the semi-protected edit request in Las Vegas on 14 March 2016, requesting the addition of Winchester, Nevada and rewording Enterprise, Nevada for consistency in the Nearby Communities section. (I also don't know who that person is.) But, I'm trying to understand what kinds of references would be necessary for the edit request to be accepted, or to include in the section the requestor wished to have edited? The article already contains links for Paradise, Winchester, and Enterprise (with references 12 and 13) in the header section, just before the table of contents, as comprising the Las Vegas Strip. As well, Winchester, Nevada cites that it borders Las Vegas city on the north. I don't have a huge amount of experience editing Wikipedia, and I'm asking for guidance here to understand what should be done. Thanks! Aerowolf (talk) 20:29, 8 April 2016 (UTC)

KenJackowitzHi Becky, Thank you for your help with the error on The First Folio. What I do not understand is, I never touched that section. I created a new section below that section. How did my contribution cause an error in the above section, please? My contribution: Lost Editions of The First Folio[edit] A copy of the First Folio was lost September 27, 1854, when the SS Arctic collided with the SS Vesta 50 miles off the coast of Newfoundland, and sank. Out of 400 passengers, only 85 survived. Shakespeare collector Aldon W. Griswold had purchased the folio, which had been shipped from Liverpool. A first folio burned in The Great Chicago Fire, Sunday, October 8 - Tuesday, October 10, 1871. More than 300 people died in the fire, and an additional 100,00 became homeless. Thank you! Hi Becky Sayles! I saw that you recently closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Colette Wong as Keep. I just feel this could be relisted and left open for a week more as there were 2 keep votes and 2 delete (counting nominator). In fact, I was going through the Singapore deletion sorting list an hour back and was looking for sources, when I noticed it was closed. If you don't mind, would you consider relisting it? --Lemongirl942 (talk) 10:42, 7 June 2016 (UTC)
Hi Becky, I feel an article I've submitted may have been nominated by @WikiDan61 unjustly. The citing is valid--the person has articles confirming credit as well as physical album credit. Corrections have been made in response to his nomination, however, nomination has not been withdrawn. My question is, what can I do to stop deletion? This is my first Wiki submission--any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you.(ProEmcee (talk) 01:39, 8 June 2016 (UTC))

MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:01, 9 June 2016 (UTC) Crossing Rubicon's NotabilityHello Becky, I recently created a page for the band Crossing Rubicon. I believe you edited to add the template saying that the band's notability is not proven. I added a few sources in hopes to add to the page and prove their notability. This includes two articles showing that they have participated in several national tours. I had a third article that consisted of a concert review that mentioned Crossing Rubicon opening for Motley Crue. I was curious if this is enough to prove the bands notability, or if there's something more I could do. I didn't want to remove the notability template if it's still being called into question, so I thought I should ask for your opinion. Thank you, Becky.
Speedy deletion nomination of Romuald AndradeA tag has been placed on Romuald Andrade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The persian articleHi Becky, regarding the Persian article you listed at WP:PNT, it looks like subsequently replaced the text with the google translation. In doing so you also removed the reference link - I don't know whether this was accidental or intentional. As described at WP:MACHINETRANSLATION, a machine translation of a foreign language article is not much use. The "not English" template provides a link to the translation for the purpose of assessing the article, but it is not intended to be used to replace the contents. I have nominated this one for deletion for two reasons; it is clearly promotional with no claim of notability. If you come across other foreign language articles in the future, I think it is best to list it at WP:PNT rather than adding any google translations. New deal for page patrollersHi Becky Sayles, In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created. Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work. Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!Hello, Becky Sayles. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC) New Page Review - newsletter
Hello Becky Sayles,
If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Not only are New Page Reviewers the guardians of quality of new articles, they are also in a position to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged for deletion and maintenance and that new authors are not being bitten. This is an important feature of your work. Read about it at the new Monitoring the system section in the tutorial.
With some tweaks to their look, and some additional features, Page Curation and New Pages Feed could easily be the best tools for patrollers and reviewers. We've listed most of what what we need at the 2016 WMF Wishlist Survey. Voting starts on 28 November - please turn out to make our bid the Foundation's top priority. Please help also by improving or commenting on our Wishlist entry at the Community Wishlist Survey. Many other important user suggestions are listed at at Page Curation.
