Can you please usify my article on Jumeau Dolls which was deleted on July 25th 2008

I believe that there were insufficient grounds for deleting this article - This was about one of the most significant global toy companies prior to the modern era and a pioneering firm in branding and marketing and has viable information for both the history of toys and design but my article was deleted because someone unnamed decided that it "does not show much significance".

some of my material seems to be used for a related article

On the help page I have been advised to ask for usification in order to restore the page. The helper also suggested that the article sounded like notability was not hard to prove

the article had been on wikipedia for some years and there were links to it

it also is based on published verifiable sources

I also wonder why articles can be deleted by people who do not seem to have knowledge of a particular field

I still can't see how it can be judged by someone who from his interests on his editing and comments does not know the subject and therefore the state of knowledge and content

I am a published writer and academic and I am rather surprised that it now has a banner on it complaining about the quality of the article given the stubs and lists that survive in their 1,000s wihout similar comment across wikipedia

You seem to be affiliated with the product in question, and if that is the case you should not be working on this article at all because you would have a clear conflict of interest. If your username is related to the product by coincidence or simply because you are interested in it I apologize, but if you are affiliated at all with the company keep in mind that Wikipedia is not a place to advertise your product. Also note that I did not even propose the article for deletion in the first place, but when I saw that it was poorly-referenced and contained little of encyclopedic value but only seemed to promote the product, and was created by and edited solely by a person named "Bebe Jumeau", I could only support the deletion. As the article stands now, it at least has a few good references but the article will still need quite a bit of work to make it appear less like an advertisement. -- Atamachat 15:21, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I just wanted to let you know that this article, which you created and seem to essentially be the sole editor of, is in danger of deletion. I myself have no interest in deleting it but I wanted to draw your attention to it. It only has a single reference given without context, and I doubt it would stand up to an Articles for Deletion review. If you wish to see it kept please familiarize yourself with the policies in WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:N. Any article that satisfies those 3 policies is unlikely to be deleted. Also, I noticed that your most recent edit on that article contains a fairly acidic edit summary. Be sure to assume good faith with your fellow editors unless it's clear that they are being intentionally disruptive (and if they are you should warn and/or report them, not respond in kind, remember to stay civil). Wikipedia needs editors with your level of knowledge on subjects, so I hope you can take the time to familiarize yourself with its policies. Jumeau Dolls on the Help Desk

Hi, I gave a reply on the Help Desk, which I'll copy here :

A few points:
  • There is no way to check people are who they claim they are, so excluding people "outside the areas of expertise" is not even an option. It is also contrary to the very core idea behind Wikipedia.
  • Articles must adhere to Wikipedia's various policies ("guidelines" may also apply). Inclusion criteria don't depend on expert knowledge. External references to reliable secondary sources (we love academic sources) go a long way to ensure an article's survival.
  • Editors of Wikipedia are by and large, reasonable people who act in good faith, name calling is not useful.
  • There are many safeguards. So called "speedy" (see WP:CSD) and "proposed" (WP:PROD) nominations for deletion can be contested by anyone, no questions asked, in which case deletion just won't apply (unless an extreme case). Watching the pages you create and checking your watchlist once in a while should ensure that those nominations don't go unnoticed by you. Nominations are reviewed by at least one administrator in any case. Deletions resulting from these two procedures can be contested even once the article has been deleted (see the deletion review) in which case they are automatically restored (as happened here). Articles can be nominated for deletion through a third procedure (WP:AfD), where a decision is seeked through loose concensus. Such a nomination cannot be contested (though anyone is free to argue in defense), appeal is possible if the concensus is in favour of deletion (deletion review again, not automatic in this case).
  • Bad calls and mistakes happen, use the safeguards (but note that the mistake may be yours, not everything is up for inclusion).
