The Gulf does not border Iran, so there is no need to mention its Persian name in the article's lead section. Since it does border Israel and some Arabic speaking countries, the names used in those places are mentioned. Bazonka (talk) 17:58, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
ok thanks , i think you are right about iran's borders but is not it better to write "Gulf of Eilat" along with "gulf of aqaba" at first line of article .... like for example (( "gulf of aqaba" also known as "gulf of eilat" )) ?2.176.35.25 (talk) 18:24, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I wonder you can't find any reference to "channel", because the only reference of the article is the United States, Hydrographic Office (1916). South America Pilot 2. p. 313, and there you can't find "Canal Whiteside" but "Whiteside Channel", in page 313 of course. I agree that "Canal" is more common in google. Do you know why is called "Whiteside"?. --Best regards, Keysanger (what?) 11:47, 21 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry for the late response. No, unfortunately I don't know where "Whiteside" came from. Presumably it's the surname of an explorer or politician - that's just a guess though. Bazonka (talk) 06:09, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Since we can't transclude pages across project boundaries, we need a minimum of two - one on English Wikipedia, the other on Meta. I don't know of an efficient way that would allow those two to provide data for the other four; four because I didn't mention MediaWiki:Geonotice.js because Manchester 18, being more than four weeks away, doesn't yet qualify for that. But you can see how it might appear in the geonotice at meta:User:Redrose64. --Redrose64 (talk) 07:28, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, re User:Bazonka/Meetups: you're missing two pages which I didn't know about myself when I commented above
Redrose, surely there's an easier (ie less insane) way of doing it? Surely we can find a way of making one edit per wiki rather than spending ages updating different pages all over the place, or perhaps a bot could check one page regularly and update the rest? There's also the geonotice, which I can't change (having no admin powers and all that). The latest one mentions Newcastle in September, but not the latest Manchester one in August. Cheers, Bazonka (talk) 20:56, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Bazonka, you made this edit awhile ago, but I've been away. Do you have a source for that statement? In my experience West Philippine Sea completely replaces South China Sea, rather than just referring to the Philippine EEZ. Regards, CMD (talk) 08:10, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I've been looking forwards to going to a Wiki Meet Up in Manc, but it's sods law that I'm busy that weekend I'm afraid. IJA (talk) 21:58, 6 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know about this. I thought I had missed the last two meetups, but I see there have been another five that I didn't even know about, so the note from you about this one is really welcome. Hope to see you there. JamesBWatson (talk) 08:28, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry James - I've only just discovered the list of people who want notifications. Haven't you seen the notices at the top of your watchlist though? (For some reason Manchester isn't mentioned in the most recent one though.) Hopefully see you in a few weeks then. Cheers, Bazonka (talk) 20:54, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Mahratta (in The Gothic Line section) and HML (in the Notable Personalities section) both still need to be disambiguated. I couldn't figure out which of the Mahratta regiments was the correct one, and I have no idea what HML stands for in this context. Thanks, [User:Bazonka|Bazonka]] (talk) 12:49, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm guessing but HML could be "His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant"? I can find no references to it on the web however which seems to suggest that it's maybe an overkill? The same letters are not present on Lord Brookeborough's article. I have Doherty's "History of the North Irish Horse" here so I'll look up Brookeborough and the Mahratta connection right now. No problem! It looks like Countries bordering the Caspian Sea has bitten the dust, which has annoyed me, because I didn't spot it until it was too late, but hopefully sanity will prevail and the others will be kept. Cheers, Bazonka (talk) 16:33, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Bazonka! To avoid me being turned into a frog by a certain magician; can you have a look at this article for me? =) For the second time IP's have edited and I don't agree with the edits but as you know I am a bit possessive of articles so I was wondering if you could have a look and give me some advice. Should I leave it alone, re-add my bits, take away the non-referenced comments or just revert their edits completely? Thanks very much, ツStacey (talk) 11:58, 9 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Stacey, I've just had 6½ pints, so I'm in no state to properly look at "your" article now! I'll have a look later in the week when I get a chance. Cheers, Bazonka (talk)
I've tidied the page up a bit, and added some citation needed tags. Not ideal. Also, some of the references were missing URLs to The Examiner website, so I fixed them, but I couldn't save these because apparently The Examiner is on the WP:BLACKLIST (I didn't even know such a thing existed!), so I've had to change these to cn's as well. If you can't find any reliable (and not banned) sources, then you may want to consider removing all of this text, but it won't leave a very long article. International Hydrographic Organization
Hi; see my edit here. The website states that there are 80 member states but then lists 81, which is what caused the confusion for me. I'm OK to go with the larger number as they probably just haven't updated the text that states 80 member states. Thanks for you attention to this detail.
