Lightning rod
Did you really mean to write "unless you are doing it for the sake of chicks from thunders and lightning"? that doesn't make any sense. --Guy Macon (talk) 19:29, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
So are you trying to say "unless you are doing it to protect chicks from thunder and lightning"?
The phrase "for the sake of chicks from thunders and lightning" is improper English grammar.
This raises some questions.
First, Why just chicks? Why not chickens, cows, sheep etc?
Second, you do not install lightning rods during a lightning storm. You have to do it on a previous day with no storm. Installing Lightning Rods is purely preventative; it protects a building from some lightning strike at some future time. I do not see why the work cannot wait until after Shabbat.
Lastly, do you have a citation for your claims? Can you provide a reference to the exact passage in the Halakha regarding installing lightning rods during Shabbat? Or is it Derabbanan or Minhag?

The Tosefta is talking only when there is a thunderstorm in action, otherwise you can not do it, and you have to wait till Sunday.
I have a citation, but it's in Aramic, I can translate it to English, or just adding the Aramic (It is written in Hebrew letters), what do you think is the best way ?
