Hi. I am part of an effort to get Wikimedians access to the 2016 Summer Olympics as accredited reporters and photographers. Part of this effort includes covering the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Two Wikimedians have credentials to attend these games as reporters through Wikimedia Australia. As English Wikipedia does not allow original reporting, this is largely through Wikinews with a project page found at Wikinews:Paralympic Games. If you are interested in helping to get Wikimedians to the next Summer Olympics,I'd encourage you to assist with Wikinews efforts, and also to work on all language 2012 Summer Paralympic Wikipedia articles before, during and after the Games to demonstrate a track record of success. On 11 May 2012, Norwegian, Eivind Holtsmark Ringstad, won the 16th Eurovision Young Musicians 2012, in Vienna, Austria. This is a biennial event, and the next contest will take place in 2014, with Vienna most likely to be the host nation for a fifth consecutive time.
Glasgow were the hosts of the Eurovision Dance Contest 2008, and since then there have been no announcements of the contest continuing with a third edition.
So far 25 countries have confirmed participation for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, which is scheduled to take place in Sweden. Please remember to only cite reliable sources when adding countries to the article.
The tenth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on the 1 December 2012, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Details about confirmed participation are slowly filtering out into the world wide web. Please cite reliable sources when including new information.
Albania announced on 25 July 2012 that they will make their début in Amsterdam, and Moldova confirmed their participation. Thus bringing the total number of confirmed participant to eleven countries so far.
Asiavision Pte's Our Sound: The Asia-Pacific Song Contest seems to have been indefinitely postponed. However, the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) are launching their own versions; which are not to be confused with Our Sound or Eurovision Song Contest. The "cultural extravaganza" concept may be the same, but the format is completely different. The Radio Festival will be competitive, while the TV Festival is just a showcase of music so is non-competitive.
ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 - Twenty-six entries from sixteen countries took part in a preliminary selection round. Of those, fifteen have been selected and will perform in the first ABU Radio Song Festival on 11 October 2012.
ABU TV Song Festival 2012 - Thirteen countries have confirmed participation in the first ABU TV Song Festival on 14 October 2012.

Oxford distionary's of current English (1973) definition of "Station" as "place, building, etc. in which somebody or something is, or is placed".

(talk page stalker) - The term "we" may be referring to the "wikipedia we", or more commonly known as the "Majestic plural". And I have to agree with AxG's a programme is what people watch. A TV station/Radio station would be the correct terminology. And I think you may have misinterpreted the definitions of "programme" from the Oxford English Dictionary. English is a very complexed language, as we have words that hold so many definitions, as well as words that are spelt differently but sound the same (for example: were, where, and wear). If you look at this online dictionary the sixth definition for "station" reads "An establishment equipped for radio or television transmission." Also the third definition as shown on the Oxford online dictionary states "a company involved in broadcasting of a specified kind: a radio station". Like you rightfully pointed out, a station is a building. But its a building where a specified activity or service is held. (edit conflict) That's the complexity of the English language I'm afraid. Thankfully I know a friend who works at LBC so should be able to answer this one better. LBC Radio is a company name, which has two radio stations LBC 97.3 and LBC News 1152. If you check both of those articles they refer to them as stations. But for the sake of the parent article LBC, we (as in Wikipedians) may list them as services belonging to a company, but we could also list them as "stations" too. And again, you appear to be getting the definitions mixed up here. I've studied Lexicography, a station is a building where a specified activity or service is held. For the sake of the article you are relating to, Lithuanian National Radio and Television is a company that comprises of a radio and television network. The specified building they are based within is called a "station". In English we commonly refer to such companies as "radio or TV stations". I'm starting to have concerns here, as you have on your user page that you hold a near native knowledge of the English language. Yet you are showing signs here that you clearly are not understanding that some words in the English language hold so many definitions and meanings. This is also more evident in the fact that you also asked on my talk page why I have listed Isle of Man as being part of the United Kingdom. Considering I was born in the United Kingdom, and of British nationality, plus the fact I have lived in the UK for 32 of my 33 years - I think I have an outstanding knowledge of the British Georgraphy and English language.
I use the emphasis to make specific words (the words to which you question) stand out more. It is better then to bold or underline them. As I have previously explained to you, a company/establishment are the same thing. They are words relating to a business. Even though both of the online dictionaries use either company or establishment in their definitions, they are basically stating that they are businesses. You used LBC as an example - LBC is the overall business name, which makes them also a company/establishment. However, LBC also have two radio stations/channels. Even though they are based in the same building, it makes both of those radio channels 'stations'. Take for example the BBC. BBC is the overall company, which has smaller departments within them, such as BBC 1; BBC 2; BBC 3; BBC Radio 1; BBC Radio 2 etc. Each of those are BBC Stations, which are part of the BBC corporation. ITV is another example, they have ITV 1, ITV 2, then there are ITV Granada, ITV Wales etc. ITV is the larger corporation which consists of smaller broadcasting departments and regional departments.
Now in your case you mention LRT Radijas, LRT Klasika and LRT Opus. Nobody has said they are different companies, nor has anyone stipulated they are located in different buildings. The fact of the matter is LRT is the larger business (also known as the parent business) which comprises of smaller departments (more commonly known as stations). You're welcome AxG. I am quite concerned though as the user has stated they have a near-native understanding of the English language. If that be the case then someone with near-native skills wouldn't need to be asking for clarification on word definitions. He has quoted definitions from a dictionary dated 1973. We're now 39 years on from that, and the Oxford English Dictionary has been updated every year since with new definitions, new words etc. There is clearly confusing and a lack of understand of the English language and its complexity of definitions, that I personally starting to get frustrated with it all. And not only that, but to also check my own user space and then question me as to why I have listed Isle of Man as being United Kingdom. What has that got to do with the user? I have just looked up the word station on Wikipedia's very own dictionary site, Wiktionary. They too have station definitions that mention buildings or stopping places (such as bus station, railway station). And then definitions 10 and 111 both explicitly state "a place used for broadcasting" (for example, I used to work at a radio station) and "a broadcasting entity" (for example, I used to listen to that radio station). Well Johnny's choice of "reliable sources" says it all really. One of them is a booklet of TV listings covering all TV/Radio channels around the world. The other is a British Act of Law which sets legal guidelines for TV/Radio Stations in regards to programme broadcasting. This user is getting sources completely confused and this is worrying and boardline disruptiveness too. He also used a definition from a dictionary that is almost 39 years out of date. We're in 2012, not 1973 - so use the definition in the modern Oxford English Dictionary please. Oh hang on, I actually provided the definition for the words using the modern Oxford Dictionary!!! I also provided definitions from other dictionaries which all stated the same thing as the Oxford one. And then I provide the link to Wikitionary for the same words - and to no surprise that too collaborates the same definitions as the previous two. Even other articles on Wikipedia refer to a Radio/Television network as stations.
Radio broadcasting - This article mentions the term 'radio station' a multitude of times, and provides a clear definition of what a 'radio station' is.
Television station - Oh look this article also states "a television station is a business, organisation or other enterprise, such as an amateur television (ATV) operator, that transmits (broadcasts) content over terrestrial television".
Television network - This too states "A television network is a telecommunications network for distribution of television program content, whereby a central operation provides programming to many television stations or pay TV providers". Notice it mentions a TV station provide programme content. When a programme is aired to the general public via a TV screen that TV network/station is providing a service - which is what the Broadcasting Act 1990 means by License programme services. A television network is required by law to license any content they wish to produce in order for it to be legally transmitted.
The Broadcasting Act 1990, replaced the Television Act 1954. Prior to the 1990 Act, the United Kingdom only had four television networks, BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, and Channel 4, and the law prevented a fifth television network being transmitted. When the new Broadcasting Act came into legislation it meant the old law was relaxed and that a fifth channel could be created - shortly after Channel 5 begin to transmit programmes on its new station. The London Olympic and Paralympic games have ended, and just as their motto stated, they truly did inspire a generation. This got me thinking how could we as a project for Eurovision related material may be able to inspire the next generation of Eurovision fans? RfC discussions have already underway on the project talk page regarding article layouts, how we can better present our articles to provide a more in-depth knowledge into the contests. One such discussion in regards to layout of Contest by Year articles has already become a success, and provided the project with its first ever GA-class article. So in reality, implementing the same layout across other articles should produce the same output. A similar discussion into layout style for Country in a Contest related articles is also taking place. This project is constantly evolving as more and more editors join the team. We've redesigned the home page for Project Eurovision in a bid it entices new people to join the team. A project can't survive on stale movement, it needs evolution to add excitement to the project. So lets use October to inspire each other to do better, to work more collaboratively, and to entice the next generation of editors to the project team.

7 countries have announced the dates of their national finals.
Andorra, Czech Republic, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, and Morocco confirm they will not be present in Malmö.

Remember when you fixed the logo for the ABU Radio Song Festivals 2012? Well the logo for the TV Festival is now available. Any chance you could sort this one out for me too, when you get a spare moment. I'm thinking of adding it into the main article itself, rather than in the infobox as the Radio Contest logo is in there. Or we could use the main ABU Seoul 2012 logo for the infobox, and then thumbnail the Radio and TV logos into the main article for the respective festivals. Sorry to be a pain in the rear-end. Cooper has directed me this way regarding new participations maps for the ABU contests. The page in its current format is starting to become complexed, and there's more details being published that may cause it to become incomprehensible to even the biggest of fans. So we're looking into splitting the article into ABU Radio and ABU TV. But was wondering if you'd be able to set up a participation map for the Asia-Pacific region? We have a problem though, 1) for some reason when I add the maps to the article infoboxes nothing happens. 2) The move for TV map has gone a bit tits-up and been moved to the file name which contained the TV logo, and thus the map has vanished. I've popped over to ask for some advice please in regards to Template:Infobox Eurovision, which I know you are very familiar with. Sang'gre Habagat (talk·contribs) has recently twice removed the "frameless" tagline from , stating that "1) they were unnecessary as frameless is the default, and 2) they were formatted wrong in the first place, so this edit makes no functional changes.".
I have posted on his talk page to refrain from making alterations without discussing it with the project first. Its not the first time that such edits have been made, and I'm now at the stage of feeling as though they are disruptive and uncooperative. We are almost at the end of another great Eurovision year, with preparations now well under way for the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest. Individual entry articles are slowly appearing at Template:Eurovision Song Contest 2013, although as happens every year, there is tendency to create these article prematurely. Please don't create them without a good two paragraphs of information to post, and with at least two reliable sources of information cited - remember every article has to pass the Wikipedia:Notability guideline independently.
There is a lot going on at WT:EURO at the moment too, and every project member should have this talk page on their watchlist. The current RfC on country article layout is suffering from a lack of participation - myself and others may not agree with every suggestion made, but we won't bite people's heads off, so please feel free to comment! If you feel like you'll be out of your depth over there, you should know that it was a suggestion by a newbie that resulted in a complete re-structuring of all Eurovion templates, so you don't have to be an "old timer" to bring new ideas to the table! On the same page is a proposal to re-license Eurovision logos uploaded locally, and since this will have a big impact on how we handle logos, some further feedback would be appreciated.
As always, be on the look out for potential new members to the project. Post {{subst:EurovisionInvite}} (which will produced this template) on any user page you think is interested to join the WikiProject, to officially invite them to join.

The tenth edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest is scheduled to take place on the 1 December 2012, in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Twelve countries have confirmed their participation with Albania, Azerbaijan, and Israel making their début.
As the contest will be starting in the next few weeks, then the article may become subjected to vandalism from random IP accounts. Please be vigilant and revert any vandalism that you find. Thank you.
ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 - On 11 October 2012 the first ABU Radio Song Festival took place in the Korean capital of Seoul. South Korea won the Grand Prix award with the song "For a Rest" performed by boy band Billy Acoustie. Danielle Blakey representing Australia won the gold award with the song "Fearless", Brunei received the silver award with the song "The sweetest memory" performed by Maria Aires, with Sammy Ray Jones also representing Australia receiving the bronze award with his song "Rinet". K-Town Clan representing Malaysia received the special jury award with their song "Party Animal" and thus finished in fifth place.
ABU TV Song Festival 2012 - Eleven countries performed in the first ABU TV Song Festival on 14 October 2012. The contest was non-competitive and thus no winners.
ABU Radio Song Festival 2014 - It was announced on 11 October 2012 that the 2014 Radio Festival will take place in Australia hosted by radio broadcaster ABC Australia.

With the festive season a matter of days away and 2012 rapidly drawing to a close, I'd like to take the time to reflect on the last 12 months as a project community, and look ahead to 2013. 2012 witnessed the period when Azerbaijan got to showcase their capital city Baku to the rest of Europe. Preparations for the contest were not the smoothest ever seen, but come the day of the contest everything seemed to have knitted together OK. Concerns over the longevity of the Junior Contest were also raised when the lowest participation ever recorded. Fans worried that the contest would be brought to an abrupt end, however, with 3 new countries debuting the contest went ahead as planned.
The project also seen the start of two new contests, ABU Radio Song Festival and ABU TV Song Festival, which were both staged in the Korean capital of Seoul. The host nation won the first edition of the festival. And so we look ahead to 2013, with Sweden hosting the Eurovision Song Contest for a fifth time, and for the second time in the city of Malmö. Vietnam is expected to host the 2013 ABU TV Song Festival, with the Radio Festival having a year break, which won't be hosted again until 2014 in Australia. Details about the 2013 Junior Eurovision Song Contest are still unknown. As always, be on the look out for potential new members to the project. Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 10,275 last month to 10,294 on December 15th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 93 is just ahead of WP:GM who have 73. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 57 out of a total number of 3,171 articles.
Currently we have thirty one Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.

Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 10,294 last month to 10,371 on January 28th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 93 is ahead of WP:GM who have 74. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 57 out of a total number of 3,185 articles.
Currently we have thirty one Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
2011 Census
The Office for National Statistics have now published the detailed information from the 2011 Census for wards and parishes. The data can be searched for on their web site here. Would be good to get the information added to all of the relevant articles but this is a big job. If the article already has the 2001 census figures then it may be worth retaining these, in the text of the article, for comparison purposes.

Interwiki links
There has been a major change this month to the way that interwiki links are handled with the introduction of Wikidata. Wikidata is a central place to record meta-data about an article and the initial phase was rolled out this month to cater for interwiki links. The links in the language area are served from this project and can be edited by use of the "edit links" icon at the bottom of the list. These links in articles are now redundant but if present override the information supplied by wikidata. Check each of the links to ensure that they exist and are correct on wikidata before removing the entry from an article. BOTs are in the process of removing these links from articles but will leave behind missing or conflicting links for someone to investigate and fix appropriately.
Be aware that when moving articles to change the destination for the en interwiki link on wikidata to point to the new article location. The redirect will normally take care of this
but if the original name is reused for a different article then other wikis will be pointing to an incorrect location.
Wikidate also does not handle section links in the interwiki link so these must remain as part of the article code.
Watchlists have been changed to give an extra option to Show/Hide changes to wikidata entries for articles on the watchlist.

Eurovision-fever is vast upon us with all songs and artists having already been selected, and the contest itself is just around the corner. So we as a collective need to be as vigilant as possible when it comes to content being updated to respective articles connected to Malmö 2013. Please remember to use citations to reliable sources on everything. If in doubt, then use the article talk page and/or the project talk page for open discussion.
The project has yet again gained another accolade on an annual article with the ABU TV Song Festival 2012 receiving GA classification. That is now 3 within a year, with the first being Eurovision Song Contest 2012 back in July last year, and ABU Radio Song Festival 2012 being the second last month. Congratulations once again to everyone who has helped to contribute to those respective articles. You are the top contributor of the template Infobox ESC National Year. The template is fine except that the missing years are not displayed or else I couldn't manage it. Suppose that the country has participated in 1978, but not in 1979. The template of 1980 still shows 1979 instead of 1978 for the previous entry. Any remedy ? Cheers. Lua
Another change to the software last month sees the introduction of Lua for coding of templates. Those of you who edit templates may come across this with the introduction of the "#invoke" statement. The code is held in the new namespace of Module that was created for this purpose. One of the first places to show the change is the search screen that now has options to search the Module or the associated Module talk namespaces.
The use of Lua is expected to improve the speed of loading of pages with a large number of complex templates. The heavily used complex templates are being targeted for early conversion to use Lua. {{Coord}} and {{cite}} family of templates are among the first to receive attention. If you see any problems when conversion is made then report them to Technical Village Pump or to the talk page of the module involved.

ABU Radio Song Festival 2014 - It was announced on 11 October 2012 that the 2014 Radio Festival will take place in Australia hosted by radio broadcaster ABC Australia. As it is too soon to start work on the new article, can we please try and avoid creating one. Unless of course, there's enough information out there that would warrant an early creation.

Thanks to the contributions of our many members and supporters, WP:YORKS has become a leading local British WikiProject in terms of the total number of articles supported (up from 10,444 last month to 10,461 on April 27th). In the area of GAs WP:YORKS at 99 is ahead of WP:GM who have 76. WP:GM has the lead in FAs at 58 out of a total number of 3,229 articles.
Currently we have thirty one Yorkshire featured articles:
The number has been kept deliberately low to give us a fighting chance of improving them to at least GA status, also so we can concentrate our efforts on these first.
Notifications
By the time you read this the new Notifications tool will be available for use. You will have a new Notifications tab under Preferences to enable the selection of which type of notification you want on web and which you want e-mailing about. The count of those selected for web delivery will be shown between your user page and talk page links at the top of each page. Just click on this number to see the notifications that are applicable to you. One the resulting page there is also a direct link to the new Notifications tab of your preferences.
The main noticeable change will be the disappearance of the big orange bar at the top when you get a new talk page message, it will now be just a discreet change to the notification count.

The project is subscribed to a clean-up listing which lists articles tagged with various clean-up tags that need attention. The listing is refreshed by a bot on a regular basis.
Monitoring is essential Use the watchlist to keep an eye on changes to the project's articles so that vandalism and spamming can be removed as quickly as possible.
Moves Please be careful when performing articles moves and ensure that you also move all the talk sub-pages and update any image fair use rational. Otherwise the archives, to-do lists, assessment comments and GA reviews get lost and the image may be deleted as it has an incorrect FUR.

WikiProject Eurovision Newsletter - May 2013

Well we have a winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2013, and the 2014 article is already up and running. However, the work on the 2013 edition is still not complete. Over the next few weeks many editors will be doing the final clean-up operation on the article, and we hope to achieve yet another GA classification on the article in the coming months. We will of course keep you all updated of the progress via the newsletter.
But if you are already starting to get Eurovision withdrawal symptoms, then don't panic. We have the ABU TV Song Festival in Vietnam to look forward to, as well as the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev. Your contributions to both of these articles are gratefully appreciated. Remember it is teamwork collaborations that help to make this project a success.

Just in case you've been sleeping under a rock recently, "Only Teardrops", by Danish singer Emmelie de Forest won the 58th Eurovision Song Contest with a score of 281 points.
In what is becoming a regularity with new Eurovision articles, they are potential subjects to vandalism, so be on guard and revert any vandalistic edits.
Also make sure you only add verified content to the article, including countries that have confirmed.
Avoid using the term "possible debut", "possible return", and "possible withdrawal". The term possible makes us sound speculative and is prohibited per Crystal Ball guidelines. Any such information should be added to the "Other countries" section, with a citation for verifiability.

Note: All columns in this table are sortable, allowing you to rearrange the table so the articles most interesting to you are shown at the top. All images have mouse-over popups with more information.
We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:
Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.
The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?

Quick question if I may. I've took it upon myself to do some major improvements to all the OGAE-related articles. Already the main OGAE one is completed, but the infobox looks as if it is missing something (can't quite put my finger on what). As I know that you're an expert on those pesky things, I was wondering if I should be using the "organisation" infobox on that article or would it be better to create one similar to the Infobox Eurovision and store the template on the project page? Plus, I'm going to start re-writing the other OGAE articles including the Second Chance Contest ones. Do you think a participation map for each of the contests would be a good idea? IF so, should we stylise them like we have for the Eurovision maps. And I'm also considering if we should include Second Chance information on the respective [Country] in the Eurovision Song Contest [year] articles too. I value your views on these matters. Well I'm no expert in the OGAE side of Eurovision, the OGAE article is looking great, I think {{Infobox organisation}} works well and matches the EBU one, it does have a field for a map though. The Second Chance contests can use the same style of maps used for the ESC for consistency. Another month has gone by and with plenty of ups and downs within this project. An RfC has been rebooted on the project talk page (see Project Alerts below for more details). The OGAE articles are undergoing a complete rewrite to make these articles look more presentable and give more encyclopaedic value to them. They were in a disastrous and neglected state previously, so it is about time they got some well needed TLC treatment given to them all. Eurovision Song Contest 2013 is looking near completed, and in preparation for a GA-class submission. A huge thank you to all those who have contributed on that article in the last 12 months - some WikiLove to everyone for your continuous teamwork.

There is a RFC taking place on the project talk page which could do with as many members contributing to it. Your say will help to achieve consensus on how '[Country]' in the Eurovision Song Contest articles should be stylised and written more encyclopaedically for the general audience and not just for the average ESC-fan. Please KEEP IT CIVIL!!!
Eurovision Song Contest 2013 will shortly be going through the annual process of a post-Contest tidy-up, in preparation for a GA-class submission. We will keep you posted of that process in due course.
OGAE and other articles relating to the organisation are going through an extensive rewriting exercise. Some of the article were in a very poor state, with the lead section of OGAE being an exact word-for-word copy of the "about us" section of OGAE's Facebook page. This was a violation of WP:COPYVIO, and has now been averted thanks to Wesley's hard work fixing the articles.

I've been trying to figure out how to make {{Esc}} and {{ESCYr}} style templates specifically for ABU Song Festivals, but I'm getting baffled at the complexity of them. What I thought may be simple seems to be more difficult than I anticipated. So I was wondering, when you get a spare moment, if you would be able to teach me the complex syntax for these, or maybe create them on my behalf.
