Please Restore RockCorps Deleted Page

Good afternoon,

I am contacting you on behalf of RockCorps LLC, today as I was about to navigate through our Wikipedia page I noticed that you had deleted our page for the reason of being "ambiguous self promotion". Our page contained simply biographical information with a list of our concerts we have held and the artists we have worked with. I ask you to please restore our page which is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockcorps.

Israel Nery —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.63.195.46 (talk) 20:49, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The term is "unambiguous advertising or promotion" (see Wikipedia:Spam). Whether you were editing as Katrockcorps, Twiggie nyc, Joydoss, or all of the above, please refresh your memory of the {{uw-coi}} warnings on User talk:Katrockcorps and User talk:Joydoss before considering Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. – Athaenara 04:57, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Athaenara,

I am afraid that was my fault. I had not realised that as a rockcorps employee I was not able to edit the page and did not understand until the article was deleted. I have put the article down as a request for an independant editor on the requests page and declared my position. Is there anyway that the original article can be restored? The one before I started editing it in december?

Thank you very much for your help. Kat — Preceding unsigned comment added by Katrockcorps (talkcontribs) 12:48, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was no non-spam version in the page history. – Athaenara 01:04, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Athaenara,

Oh, ok. But how come there was an article published before I made adjustments? Is it not possible to go back to that then? Is the best way just to put in the request as I have done and hope that an independent editor deems it worthy of an article?

Thank you very much for your assistance, I really appreciate your advice. - Kat —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.186.121.129 (talk) 11:06, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alpha Pup Records

in re: Alpha Pup Records (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi Athaenara, can you help me please?

Hi Athaenara,

My name is Shilo Urban and I was wondering if you might be able to help me regarding a page that I created, which you deleted: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Alpha_Pup_Records

Alpha Pup is a fully legit record label operating out of LA that has been mentioned numerous times on the BBC and NPR.

Truly I created this page so long ago that I can't quite remember - but I think it was just a shell, more of a place-holder than anything else. OR it is also possible that I wrote the post with too much "promo speak" and failed to use the appropriate objective tone.

In either case, I would like to try again. Wikipedia definitely needs an Alpha Pup Records page! What can I do to help rectify the situation?

Thank you,

Shilo Urban aka shilonikelle — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shilonikelle (talkcontribs) 01:14, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your article consisted of five highly promotional paragraphs (see the Wikipedia:Spam guideline), which was why it was deleted per {{db-g11}} as unambiguous advertising. Please review the conflict of interest warnings on your own talk page. – Athaenara 03:01, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brandbull

Hi Athaenara, Your Tip of Today reads "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Please_do_not_bite_the_newcomers" and you have deleted my page without pointing out the exact corrections that could make the User Page better. May I know why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brandbull (talkcontribs) 05:59, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I thought the advice posted by other editors on your user talk page was sufficient. Per your question above, I added a {{uw-coi}} message as well. – Athaenara 06:20, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Message

Hi Athaenara, we received your message after our attempt to revise our post [[1]]. I originally had a consultant help make a post from information we provided - after several suggestions from people and companies that we provide information about our company on Wikipedia. I am currently working outside of the USA in South America and many people are looking for information about our company, even though we have a website. We thought that this was the purpose for Wikipedia - to provide information for people and Wikipedia seems to be the location that people are looking now. Please let us know if this is not a correct assumption of the purpose, or what we need to revise. We patterned our design after several other similar articles stating similar information [[2]], [[3]] and others as shown on [[4]]. If our company information is not allowed, I think that some editor from Wikipedia needs to review the many other articles currently online for similar criteria. Thank you for assistance and understanding as I have assumed this project after receiving the proof from our consultant, that we subsequently pasted into the website. He suggested this process so that we may watch / monitor revisions that are made in the future for protection because we have heard of many stories how other competitors are sabotaging websites in Wikipedia. Deletion of page

Please could you explain why you decided to delete my article about "Faith2Share". This was a serious academic attempt to update Wiki content on Christian mission which is getting quite dated. If you check for "Faith2Share" on Wiki generally you will find quite a few references to this new networking phenomenon and so I thought some history of this particular network was needed. The article I wrote included a lot of cross-referencing to established Christian mission organisations. It was not designed to 'promote' Faith2Share (which in fact does not, as far as I know, seek prototion as it is a closed network) but was informational. If you would like to suggest a rewrite I am happy to attempt this if you could kindly send me my orignial text. I have other contributions to make in this academic area of study - Christian mission - but am hesitant to spend time on this if you will simply delete them. I look forward to receiving your advice here or email me at markoxbrow@aol.com Mark. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.1.161.215 (talk) 22:18, 16 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

On my bulletin board above you'll find the category of admins who will provide copies of deleted articles. Hi. You deleted this as G11; the author has asked at WP:REFUND for it to be restored. Looking at the deleted article, I am inclined to agree with him that it is not blatantly promotional, though I have doubts about notability. Would you object to userfying it for him to see if he can improve the references? Regards, JohnCD (talk) 12:19, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Oxbrow (identified variously as "International Coordinator" and "International Director" of Faith2Share) has a conflict of interest which he neglected to mention in his undeletion request. I wouldn't userfy it but I won't try to stop anyone else from doing so. – Athaenara 03:44, 18 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Athaenara, you deleted the article about the band 'This Century'. They are a national touring band signed to Creative Artists Agency and are also on a major label, 'Warner Bros. Records'. I believe the article was formatted rather incorrectly from the beginning and lacked appropriate references. Deletion of Biography

You nominated for deletion a biography page for the new Harris County District Clerk that mirrors almost identically several other existing pages (See Pat Lykos). Why? Could you not have edited instead of deleting wholesale? Was your deletion political? FYI, Harris County is the 3rd largest county in the US and the Largest in TX and deserves recognition of its county-wide elected officials — Preceding unsigned comment added by Harris DC (talkcontribs) 04:45, 20 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Canadian Family (magazine) and Weddingbells (magazine)

Hi There,

I created Wikipedia pages for Weddingbells (magazine) and Canadian Family (magazine) which were deleted. The reason stated was they were considered 'promotion' and a 'conflict of interest' existed. I included only basic information such as distribution, awards won and an brief editorial overview. I do work for the publisher - so how would I go about creating such a page and making that relationship clear? Should I remove external links or specific content? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

These are the links:

In the context of Wikipedia, which is an online encyclopedia, not a free listing or advertising service (see Wikipedia is not a soapbox or means of promotion), you are a spammer: a single-purpose account with a conflict of interest, known in Wikipedia shorthand as a coi spa. If your company is sufficiently notable as confirmed by independent reliable sources, editors who don't have your promotional intent may write an article about it. – Athaenara 01:45, 8 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of pages -

Hi Athaenara - I am representing VRL Financial News. We publish 12 different magazines in financial sector. Our intern Lauren had created pages in Wikipedia for all these magazines, giving general information about the magazines, but many of them were deleted. The deletion log says that the contents were ambiguous and promotional. I would like to make changes to them so that they adhere to the guidelines set by Wikipedia. Could you please help me understand the modification required in these pages. Look forward to hearing from you. Webvrl (talk) 10:16, 10 February 2011 (UTC)Thank you - Gayatri Gadre[reply]

Hi Athaenara the Gianfranco Chiarni page has been re-written to Wikipedia standards, can you please review so that we can take the advert down? Thanks! Beverly Wehmer Johnson (talk) 17:51, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's still quite promotional and appears to be one of the products at two single-purpose accounts, yours and Andrea D'Angelico (talk · contribs), across multiple wikipedias. You can open a discussion on the article talk page prior to posting on the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view/Noticeboard or ask for assistance on Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard. – Athaenara 20:00, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Athaenara per Wiki adminstration I was given info that our article was in the context of an advertisement. Therefore I changed, and restructured sentences to meet with Wikipedia guideline. Regarding Andrea D'Angelico, I am not certain what has been translated from the English version but will confer with him as for the aforementioned. Please give specifics as to what needs to be corrected to meet encyclopedic standards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.48.225.147 (talk) 20:35, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We have been in direct contact with Wikipedia Adminstration, and they have been assisting us with Common Usage of Photos and determining correct verbiage to use in the Gianfranco Chiarini articles. However, you have not assisted us with what needs to be changed per sentence guidelines or structure in order to meet the Wikipedia guidelines. We have followed the guidelines as per the Wikipedia Administrative, and would like very much if you would assist with neutrality of the subject at hand. Furthermore, quoting Wikipedia guidelines is not helping us to achieve our goal of a flawlessly written article. Please assist with providing direction in composing a non-biased article.

Please undelete page "Intergen"

I requested the speedy deletion for "Intergen". Thank you for responding so promptly! Upon digging further, this company does appear to be notable and they should be given a chance to re-write their article.

Will you please reinstate the page? I will then change the AFD template to {{advert}} to give them some time.

More on the Talk page.

QUESTION: Is is possible to make the display of text (or a template) happen only before or after a specific date? What I'm thinking is that in two weeks I would like {{advert}} to go away and {{db-spam}} to appear automatically if no one edits the page.

Thanks!

Michaeloqu (talk) 03:24, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done, but it's the sort of spam which we're under no obligation to enable on Wikipedia. Your idea of an {{advert}} tag which would automatically convert to {{db-spam}} after two weeks of no improvement is a good one which I don't know how to implement. – Athaenara 17:58, 1 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wuhwuzdat is dedicated to Speedy Deletion, could you help please?

I feel like Wuhwuzdat is dedicated to my Speedy Deletion, could you help please? I am working "hard" within my personal draft space to help write an entry for a non-profit society. Wuhwuzdat I think strongly believes that my page should be deleted. Do you agree? What should I do to save a draft, and improve the quality so it does not meet the criteria for speedy deletion? I'd like to have a few people who are higher ranked Wiki Editors, preferably people with a technical background, like engineering to look at it. I need some help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiPyroEngineer (talkcontribs) 07:58, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, When I put a comment in English and Filipino on their talk page this morning, there were two templates. One, I believe, was a request to delete the talk page, the other to delete the article page under G7. They seem to have understood so much, but their English is either totally non existent or at the least, extremely limited. Perhaps you could take another look and maybe together we can figure out what he really wants to do. Thanks. --Kudpung (talk) 07:42, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can tell, he wanted his user account deleted because it was all a big mistake (a series of big mistakes) and he wanted the school article deleted because he and his friends think it's nonsense, empty, non-descriptive, dumb, and embarassing to the school, although the reversion of his edits there left what experienced editors consider a reasonable stub. Language difficulties notwithstanding, he may have understood your most recent message there. – Athaenara 22:00, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara, Thank you for editing this page however I am at a loss why all the content was removed. Under the heading "Controversy in Victoria", you have removed referenced content that is pertinent to Kamco. Kamco is now a house-hold name in Victoria and would appear in national newspapers on at least a monthly basis. Can you please review your edits and help me understand the reasons please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.161.27.69 (talk) 12:13, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The reliability and neutrality of the content took an abrupt downturn when Johanna Waldon (talk · contribs) (the "Communications Advisor at Kamco" according to info available online) began editing the article two months ago, so restoring the version prior to that made sense to me, but per your message now above, I reverted that edit. – Athaenara 21:56, 7 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara, with regret we learned about the decision to delete our page. So we would be very eager to learn what went wrong and how we could improve. First, the stated reason seems not to be justified, as far as we see it.

IAPM is an international non-profit organization that promotes the art of project management. This is done by the contribution of specialists and scientists, who do not receive any compensation for their contributions. We certainly feel that our wikipedia entry is not simple advertising, but rather an encyclopedic article about an international association. What do we need to do from you standpoint and how can we stay on wikipedia?

Your response and opinion is greatly appreciated, regards, Hans

Deletion of Buchanan_(band)

Hi Athaenara, I understand that initially the Buchanan_(band) page was, despite being backed up by multiple sources after most sentences, too descriptive and not factual enough. However there was a revision prior to deletion that removed it from being promotional and purely factual. In this latest 'factual' entry, we managed to check off two of the requirements of this document http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music) In the document it asks that you don't write an article unless you have at least one of the following. In our article not only was their references from magazines, triple j databases and some of the world's busiest blogs, we also provided proof of being in high rotation in Australia, which is number 11 on the list.

Please reconsider or at the very least, let a rewrite occur without an automatic deletion. At the very least, the point was NOT to add spam or too many links - just to show evidence making it worthy of an article.

Regards, Josh — Preceding unsigned comment added by Josh simo (talkcontribs) 23:11, 15 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You're trying to promote your band on Wikipedia. If it is truly as notable as you claim it is, editors who don't have your conflict of interest will undoubtedly create a neutral and well-referenced article about it. Please read and comprehend the {{uw-coi}} on your talk page: if your only interest in this encyclopedia is self-promotion, it would be better not to edit here. – Athaenara 00:00, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Then let those unbiased editors come in and remove the apparent conflict of interest, rather than delete it. Its final iteration was completely unbiased. It was edited by a neutral party and trimmed any 'COI' leaving only fact which meets all the requirements of a wikipedia page. I am happy to leave it at this, but if a fan or a third party start the page again and it is purely factual, I fail to understand the motive in deleting it. Furthermore I have put in a request on the requests page to have it written by an editor and have created a special page on my profile as a guide for that editor. Please do not delete that guide as it complies with all Wikipedia policies. Regards. - Josh simo (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:07, 16 March 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Talk page stalker
Sorry to butt in here, but I happened to read your comments while still on this page from my earlier discussion above. I think the concern is more about the fact that the article is itself authored by someone with a conflict of interest - in other words, the article was authored by a member of the band. There are a lot of things that establish notability. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Australian music and thus might not be the best person to determine if some of this information is notable. While it provides good background, there is not really much that I find notable. I personally knew a guy who released a music album in 2007 or thereabouts; unfortunately, I do not think he has a Wikipedia article either even though he wrote his own music. It just didn't go anywhere being self-released. I hope it gets into the right hands because I've heard people say he's good, but he still isn't notable to have an article.
With that said, being courted to play for record labels and maybe get a contract; that's good! However, it's still not notable in and of itself to just play for the record label in a tryout, so to speak. So I agree with Athaenara, it's better if someone not associated from the band starts the article. Even putting in a request, the person who writes the article - if it happens - shouldn't really be using information you provide as again, there is a COI involved; you are trying to have information added to an article about yourself, even if it IS properly sourced. I hope that your band does succeed, and I hope in my watching the Hot 100 that one day you crack it or another acclaimed chart through Billboard (trust me, THAT is notable for an album and inherently makes the band notable), but I do agree that it's better someone else write a fresh article using information they research so there is no COI. They may decide to use something you provide, and if so, great; they are not however required to, and you technically should not contribute to the article even once it does exist from a third party. Cheers and good luck! =) CycloneGU (talk) 02:46, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
High rotation and distribution through a major distributor should count for something but alas, I request that this talkback box be deleted as I am satisfied that it is out of my control and for respect of humility for the band in this pubic space. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Josh simo (talk) 03:12, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with CycloneGU but I took another look at the timestamps and found that my deletion was almost an hour after Night Gyr had declined speedy deletion based on Alzarian16's edit more than four hours before that, so I undeleted it to restore the original edit history. It may still be subject to deletion via other processes such as prod or AfD. – Athaenara 07:02, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Commercial Listing?

Hello Athaenara,

I am contacting you because it appears you have deleted a commercial listing I posted.

Being new to Wikipedia, I'm sure I missed something in the details. However, the listing I was deleted from was specifically for Commercial Products: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_file_synchronization_software#Commercial

Every single product in this listing is commercial. Can you please help me out and explain why we were eliminated?

I really appreciate your assistance. We are a small company and just trying to keep up with all of the competitiors that are listed on this page.

In that mid-January edit (diff) I removed listings for two pages which had been deleted as spam. I put them back (diff) because it's possible that editors who don't have a conflict of interest such as yours will write articles about them. – Athaenara 21:09, 17 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

My Article Deletion

To Whom It May Concern:

I am a professional actor. I created an article for myself yesterday because I saw that my name is listed in another Wikipedia article about a Broadway Show in which I performed called, High Fidelity.

Because I am already listed on this page as an original cast member, I didn't think it was unreasonable to want to have my name linked to a Wikipedia article about me. Everything I put in the article is factual, and there are trustworthy internet sites that I listed as references to my work, such as; BroadwayWorld.com, Playbill.com, and the Internet Broadway Database.

I have also legally paid for and now own a domain name on the internet, and I included that as a reference as well. I'm not sure if this was considered inappropriate by your regulations. However, that site is a representation of my professional work, and there is nothing inappropriate on it.

Is there anyway I could make changes to my article that would fit your regulations and keep it from being deleted? If so, I would very much appreciate it. I did not mean to post anything inappropriate or self-promoting on your web-site.

I sincerely thank you for your time.

Warm regards, 162.90.144.23 (talk) 20:09, 18 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

What is the article? – Athaenara 00:11, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Further Confusion about my article being deleted

Hello, Athaenara.

You have sent me some information about my article being deleted. I'm sorry, but I'm still confused. There is an article on Wikipedia about the Broadway Show, High Fidelity. I am an original cast member that's listed on THAT Wikipedia page. Since my name is listed on that page, I wanted to create an article which links to my name. As you can see, Kirsten Wyatt, who is also listed on the High Fidelity page was able to create an article for herself as an actor. I included only factual information and NO opions. I also included references. In fact, my article looks very similar to hers. So I don't understand why my article is considered inappropriate. As I am new to Wikipedia, would you mind telling me the very specific things that I need to remove from this article? What I would like to be in the article is below. Thank you.

J.B. Wing is an American actress who made her Broadway debut in the musical, High Fidelity written by Amanda Green and Pulitzer Prize winner, David Lindsay-Abaire, and composed by Pulitzer Prize winner, Tom Kitt. She also performed in the 1st Broadway National Tours of Xanadu, directed by Christopher Ashley, and Legally Blonde, directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell.

In 2005, J.B. performed in off-Broadway's, BINGO, and soon after that, she appeared in Bill Russell and Henry Krieger's musical, LUCKY DUCK at the Old Globe in San Diego. LUCKY DUCK was directed by Tony Award winner, John Rando.

She has studied with Michelle Pawk, Craig Carnelia, Robert X. Modica, and Marni Nixon.

Hi, Athaenara. Why restore a spam autobiography lacking a plausible assertion of notability? -- Rrburke (talk) 23:27, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was against my better instincts to restore coi spa spam but I could see some merit in exposing it to further views by other editors. – Athaenara 02:11, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Athaenara. Thanks for your reply. Sorry: my message was unintentionally cryptic: there was supposed to be a link to the article so you might be able to discern, y'know, what the heck I was referring to. Cheers. -- Rrburke (talk) 02:25, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No problem :-) I was sure what it was on sight because of the timing and I remembered that the quite pertinent csd tags were added by you. I find coi spas frankly tiresome but I try to remain civil and let them have opportunities to see that this encyclopedia's orientation against spam isn't just me being cranky about it. – Athaenara 02:37, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of my article

Hi, you deleted my article (Nick Taussig) under code G11 which claims the article was, or read as, an advertisement. It was in fact an article for an author and film producer. The purpose of the article was for encyclopedic information. I am happy to rewrite the article if you would like to provide me with some feedback. I felt that the tone of the article was unbiased and purely biographical. I also have additional external sources from reputable links such as Screen International which I can add. Nick Taussig is an establish author an film producer and is also the founder of a charity. These are all recognised and reputable professions. The film company he works for has an article listed; [revolver entertainment]. Please can you repost my article. Nick Taussig (talk) 17:51, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your user name suggests that you are he, hence the {{uw-autobiography}} notice from another editor on your talk page, yet you wrote of him here in the third person as if you are not. Did you read and understand the {{uw-coi}} notice which I posted on your user talk page? – Athaenara 21:14, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I am not Nick, I thought the user name appeared at the top of the article and it would look better if it was under his name. I do work with Nick however. I apologise for this and I am happy to write the article under a different username. Nick Taussig (talk) 23:06, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, regarding the above, can you please repost my article into my userspace so I can rework it. Thank you. Nick Taussig (talk) 11:04, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
On Wikipedia, you are what is known as a coi spa: a single-purpose account with a conflict of interest. I will not typically give aid and comfort to such editors myself, but you can if you wish explain your situation and ask your questions at the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard and/or Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion (see my bulletin board above for the category of admins who provide copies of deleted pages). – Athaenara 20:52, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for getting back to me. I have read the deletion policy and it says that 'If an article was deleted for lacking content or for having inappropriate content (this applies to most speedy deletions) and you wish to create a better article about the same subject, you can simply go ahead and do so, with no need for review'. I am going to rewrite the article for review and try to follow the guidelines more closely. Nick Taussig (talk) 23:58, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Zell65 tagged it for speedy deletion for the following reasons:
  • because it does nothing but promote some entity, person or product and would require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic. Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion... See CSD G11.
  • as an article about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. See CSD A7.
If you wish to pursue this further after reading the {{uw-coi}} warnings on User talk:Asana-journal, you may wish to post on Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. – Athaenara 18:44, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure if this is how I am supposed to talk to you, correct me if I am wrong.

You have deleted my article about my product J2K-Codec. I understand that I might have a conflict of interest, that's why I filled in only basic information in the article, there was absolutely no advertisiment or anything. Any person could have created it! It was neutral. Similar pages exist for other products, like Kakadu with even more text! So why did you delete it? Alex saveliev (talk) 20:34, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not for self-promotion. If you wish to pursue this in spite of the {{uw-coi}} on your talk page, you may post on Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. – Athaenara 20:45, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Note that your article cited only your website as a source, while the Kakadu (software) article has citations of three independent sources. – Athaenara 21:03, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Kakadu has citations for facts in has in the article. My article was just a stub to give a chance to anyone to contribute later. It had no facts yet, hence, no external citations. And the article itself was absolutely neutral - I don't see how the phrase "J2K-Codec is a library for decoding JPEG2000" can be any more neutral. Anyone else could have created it, what difference does it make that I am the author? You can post it under your username if you want, I don't care. I just expect an equal treatment with the other products, listed on the JPEG2000 page. And I am surprised that instead of trying to fix any possible problems you just deleted the article. No offense, but it's like a doctor who prescribes decapitation for a headache.
So I want to proceed with the request for undeletion. Alex saveliev (talk) 21:23, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, this is a quote from deletion reasons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:CSD#General
  • "Note that simply having a company or product as its subject does not qualify an article for this criterion. "
So G11 is a wrong reason for deletion - there was no advertisiment in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alex saveliev (talkcontribs) 21:28, 28 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It's back for now, but per the Wikipedia:Notability guideline it still needs citations of independent reliable sources. – Athaenara 00:28, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article Help

Could you review the submission on my user talk page under title, “Filter Foundry”? The article has been deleted a couple times already—I just read the anecdote about Zeo, the new creator who gets it very, very wrong (Help:Wikipedia: The Missing Manual/Editing, Creating, and Maintaining Articles/Creating a New Article), exactly my story…word for word. Trying not to make the same mistake again.

Feedback would great! I want to know if the article could now be published

Thanks a lot!

440 Banquets & Restaurant Ahmedabad

Eimtiyazali

Hi! I am hotelist from Gujarat, India. I thought to start a Topic related to Hotels in Gujarat & Ahmedabad, and also developing by adding some very good information about hotels here, but unfortunateley when i was trying to start a topic related Hotels in Ahmedabad & Gujarat, also added one or two hotel and restaurant like 440 Banquets & Restautant, Courtyad by merriott ahmedabad to the catagories you have deleted those articles by saying G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion. please refer to the articles, those are not advertisements. And if Wikipedia is not intrested about topic on Gujarat & Ahmedabad a well known places of India and you people are just intrested in deleting such topics then just stop India Project by adding information about India.--Eimtiyaz (talk) 07:06, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I searched through your deleted contribs for some time before finding the page I deleted.
I referenced Wikipedia is not a soapbox in my deletion summary because it was clear from the extremely promotional text (see the Wikipedia:Spam guideline) that the author(s) of the page needed to read and understand it. (As well, you may not realize it, but using so much bold markup for emphasis makes your message more difficult to read.) – Athaenara 07:40, 29 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh!! I am sorry then. But i didnt mean to do that. Actually Here in Ahmedabad i am hotelist & member of Hotel Association and also food loving personality. i am having a list of welknown Hotels & Restaurants in Ahmedabad, thats why i have started a Catagory for Hotels In Ahmedabad & Hotels In Gujarat. But i was not trying to do any promotional activity i have just started adding from very first of my list but unfortunately at first only i'm stuckup. But according to me These articles and catagories are very necessary, because gujarat is an Industrial Hub of India and also the grwoth machine, you just refer WIKI articles about Gujarat and Ahmedabad you will come to know. I am requesting you to retore those catogaries and articles also, so that i can clean those article and make it correct with no promotional activities.-Eimtiyaz (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 165.228.101.254 (talk) 08:12, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Diversified Global Graphics Group deletion

in re: Diversified Global Graphics Group — DG3 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I did not receive notification of the proposed deletion of the page. I do not monitor the page so I missed the 7-day window. I refute the claim that this company is not notable. It was publicly owned, it has won several awards including one from the EPA, and it is international. How is it not notable? Backburnercomics (talk) 15:42, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I restored it per your protest and added an {{advert}} tag because of its highly promotional tone. – Athaenara 20:30, 4 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. I did not intend a promotional tone. I tried modelling as much as I could on Automatic Data Processing Inc. and RR Donnelly. I would appreciate any help on making it more compliant. Backburnercomics (talk) 15:23, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Jitheshcxps (talk) 10:01, 6 May 2011 (UTC) Hi Athaenara, I am a part of CustomerXPs(www.customerxps.com), a startup based out of Bangalore. I found that my article " CustomerXPs Software" has been deleted from Wikipedia on 26th April, 16:31(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CustomerXPs_Software). And the deletion log says G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion as the reason for this speedy deletion.I wanted to put up an informational note on CustomerXPs software. Since we are a private company and a small one at that, we are trying to get credible visibility via channels like Wikipedia especially from a recruitment perspective since we're hiring quite aggressively this year. It would be great if you could let me know particularly which content you regarded as promotional and I will change it suitably. We have not included product information specifically so as to avoid promotion, however, since the page was flagged, I'd love your help in understanding how we can alleviate this situation at the earliest. Looking forward to your guidance,[reply]

When a page is tagged with a substed and dated {{proposed deletion}} template, deletion does not actually occur until seven or more days after the page was tagged, as per the three steps outlined in the introductory section of the Wikipedia:Proposed deletion policy.
"Does not meet standard of notability for musicians" was Burkina Faso's reason when adding the template at 07:14, 5 May 2011 (UTC). TonyTheTiger further supported this on the article's talk page at 13:20, 5 May 2011 (UTC): "This article fails WP:MUSICBIO. Notability must be established according to policy guidelines."[reply]
I reviewed it one week later. As there were no sources at all, only a link to wilburministries.com in the external links section, I agreed and deleted it at 07:37, 12 May 2011 (UTC). Please note that it was a strong candidate as well for deletion per {{db-g11}} as unambiguous advertising or promotion. – Athaenara 19:24, 12 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the explanation. I can't remember the number of editors contributing; but interesting that no one argued for its keeping. Sounds like it was the right decision. Sincerely, Harvestertalk 00:13, 13 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bunbury Cricket club

in re: Bunbury Cricket Club (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I'm not entirely sure how to go about this process so I apologise If I am going about this incorrectly but upon seeking Bunbury Cricket club I noted that it had been deleted by yourself. Having looked at the justification for it, I'm afraid I cannot agree. In terms of it being noteworthy, it is a charity which has raised £12m and has done so with the help of the likes of Eric Clapton and The Bee Gees as well as countless cricketers and other sports stars. A recent reference to this can be found here: http://www.whereseric.com/eric-clapton-news/303-eric-clapton-helps-celebrate-bunbury-cricket-clubs-25th-birthday

The BBC mentions the Bunbury cricket club in the following blog: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tms/2009/05/bunbury.shtml

I hope the above is enough to merit the reinstatement of this page. If this is not the correct place to have posted this information would you be kind enough to point me in the right direction as I am new to this aspect of Wikipedia

Moontoast

in re: Moontoast (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

I wanted to find out what specifically made it read as advertising. Moontoast is a company, like many companies that have entries on Wikipedia, and we wanted to create a page with basic information about its existence. As noted in the talk file with User:Daniel_J._Leivick (which I guess was also deleted), we had added secondary sources to news sources and were in the process of adding references. Would it be possible to find out what made it read as advertising (that is not our purpose) and reinstate the entry until we can complete the verification items? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cmcenerney (talkcontribs) 11:57, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your interest (and conflict of interest) as CTO of the company you're trying to promote here, but I don't know what you mean by "the talk file" and can't find anything in Daniel J. Leivick's contribs which would explain it. Care to elaborate? – Athaenara 21:37, 23 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm actually not the CTO; just a communications person doing some work for Moontoast. Having read many other companies entries on Wikipedia, I wrote something that was far less promotional than many of those that are already on Wikipedia. While I realize you do not want someone at a company to write about a company, that would assume someone else would write about it. Seems like it has to start somewhere and the entry I added was very straightforward about what it is. I was hoping to include some basic information about the company and then encourage others to edit as needed. How else does a company get started? cmcenerney 25, May 2011 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.41.8.186 (talk) 12:15, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Wikipedia page "Jeff Hilimire"

Hi, on May 15, 2011 you deleted the wiki page for Jeff Hilimire- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Hilimire . Rasler1126 who, I think, created this page must have not have been keeping up with his wiki account to prevent this proposed deletion.

I would like you to restore this page. The reasoning of "Non-notable businesman, sources are publicity materials, press releases, coatrack spam for marketing agency." is incorrect. From what I recall, the information on the Jeff Hilimire wiki page was correct and accurate.

If you could please restore the page Jeff Hilimire and I would be grateful.

Dance Marathon at University of Michigan Webpage

Hello,

I am contacting you in regards to a page that was deleted just recently by you, Dance Marathon at university of Michigan. The page was deleted because it was a non-notable student group, but I do think we are notable. As one of the largest student organizations on our campus, and the largest student run non-profit in our state we would like to think of ourselves as notable. The deletion log said that there were not references in our article. If that is a problem, it can be amended to fit your criteria. We do use the wikipedia page and would love to have it back.

Thanks!

DMUM Leadership 98.250.93.232 (talk) 21:09, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm inclined to agree that it may have sufficient notability, but the article as written with only two sources (the organization's website and a single campus paper article) did not demonstrate that, so it would need more independent reliable sources. You might consider posting on Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion, but keep in mind that your conflict of interest is a concern. – Athaenara 00:29, 29 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, you have deleted the HospitalityBex page without even bother to provide any explanation and response to the contest posted and demonstrate how was that page different from others like Birchstreet Inc, Which has similar writeup about a company. Is this the way wikipedia is administered? How would you consider references quoted from official government website as not valid and notable? How you done enough research about the topic and history of the company to determine that it is not worthy? How do you justify that a page of about one company is allowed to stay and the other is not? Isn't this double standard? I hope you can provide clear explanation to show that administrators are neutral. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tjkong (talkcontribs) 12:29, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was originally a page created for InTouch Credit Union that got deleted for Unambiguous advertising by you. One of their employees (and my friend) had obviously created a page, but he then sent it to me as an unbiased party to revise it and take out the promoting language. I think it is relevant enough to be published on Wikipedia due to the fact that many other CUs are on Wikipedia and their assets are 800+ mil. I've submitted it on my personal page (although I'm new to Wikipedia so I don't know if you can see that or not) and I think that it would be great for them and relevant enough for this site to be published. You're the lastest (3rd) admin to delete this article as a G11. After it's second deletion I recreated it as a redirect to Community Development Council as it seemed a plausible search term. Clearly sometime after that someone converted it into a spammy article. Are you happy for the redirect to be recreated? I know that article is currently unsourced but given the number of google news hits I suspect it's probably notable. I suspect it may need protecting if the redirect it recreated given the number of G11 deletions. Dpmuk (talk) 21:12, 16 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the promotional activities of coi spas (single-purpose accounts with conflict of interest issues) have been involved, I'm reluctant to step into an area which a number of other editors and admins have been finding problematic. If you want articles about such organizations to be retained on Wikipedia, they must be written in a wholly encyclopedic manner (my post on your talk page included links to pertinent and helpful pages in this regard). A question about a deleted article

Hi, I'm new here and I was wondering if I could ask you a question. I asked this question on the noticeboards but I hope it's okay that I just paste what I wrote. The reason for this is because it concerns an article that you deleted.

I wasn't sure where this should go but anyway. Upon investigation I found out that a previous page called Victoria Preobrazhenskaya was deleted as db-g11. It seems that the user has resurrected that page and is planning on writing up another one. Contribs shows no other edits than the project at hand. That's why I didn't know where this should go.. it's a user page and not an actual article. I've looked all over but I can't seem to find any protocol for such a situation even though I've encountered it a couple of times. When a user starts making an autobiographical page using their user page, are we supposed to let them make the page on their user page to their heart's content, and put a deletion tag on them only once they try to publish? Or do we nip it at the bud and tag for speedy deletion under db-spam? Can someone please clarify? Sorry, I'm kinda new at this stuff.--Motherfrakker (talk) 12:32, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Article Creditloan.com

Hi Athaenara,

I'm told I need to discuss an undelete request with you. The article on CreditLoan.com was deleted on the basis of unambiguous advertising or promotion; however, the criteria states that "An article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." I can't find anything in the article on CreditLoan that isn't neutral. The contents are referenced, no opinions were included. No negative information was found on the Web or it would have been included. The article explains what the website is, and who is behind it. CreditLoan.com is a high traffic information site, with a large number of financial articles, and is described and referenced in the Wikipedia article, but no recommendations or suggestions of patronage are made. Please reconsider and undelete it.

Thanks for your consideration, RiverWriter (talk) 19:39, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was tagged {{db-g11}} by Rd232 (talk · contribs). Its focus was on the sorts of things the site owners would like people to know, such as how many articles it has, its location, its Alexa ranking and security precautions, etc., without significant independent reliable sources which might attest to its notability in a neutral fashion. I read it and agreed that it was primarily promotional (see the Wikipedia:Spam guideline) so I followed through with deletion. – Athaenara 20:07, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I'm wondering why my newly created page devoted to Our Internet has been deleted? This page contains the information about a web hosting provider Our Internet and their services. I thought this is good addition to a Web hosting section. At least when I was trying to find a reliable web hosting provider using Wikipedia earlier, there were not too many of them. And all of the pages there contained very similar information.

Thanks,

Restored per your complaint (it's still subject to deletion). – Athaenara 17:29, 22 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I see you deleted Ourinternet as a G11, then restored it. I deleted it as a G11 as well. An IP contacted me, (presumably Bdgls_, asking for it to me restored, citing your decision to restore it. I'm going to give it a second look - I recall it being rather spammy, but maybe salvageable. I'm inclined to userfy, and add some feedback, but I'm informing you in case you would like to weigh in.--SPhilbrickT 12:05, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I userfied and provided some feedback; not asking you to do anything, but as you were involved originally, wanted to keep you informed. --SPhilbrickT 12:57, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I undeleted it because I saw it as an opportunity for the new user Bdgls to see an additional result. As I expected, it was deleted again because it's basic "this is what we have and this is what we do" spam, not an encyclopedia article, and has no independent WP:RS indicating any notability. – Athaenara 17:52, 23 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Biogamer Girl deletion

in re: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/BioGamer Girl

I had earlier declined a G7 on the article, as a few other editors had edited the article - also, the AfD tag on an article explicitly says that the article should not be blanked during the AfD. This is a procedural thing - I would have been surprised if the consensus had changed significantly during the rest of the discussion resulting in a keep!

Regards, -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 05:31, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Amandadyar and XXmAsTeRsHaKe were the two authors of the "substantial content" per the WP:CSD#G7 criterion, and both of them explicitly requested deletion by adding the {{db-g7}} tag to the page. The purpose of AfD is not to flog or slow-roast coi spas for a week for having tried to use Wikipedia to promote their product. Their tagging, after some discussion, indicated to me that they both understood our policies and guidelines sufficiently well for their requests to be accepted in good faith.
Compare to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ozone layer formation, where the author nominated the article for AfD but other editors suggested that some of the content should be merged into another article. Summary deletion per db-g7 short-circuited a potentially productive discussion and the utility of the page name as a redirect. – Athaenara 16:56, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, I had just noticed that the requests had occurred during the AfD - personally, I ignore these unless they are for copyvios or attack pages, but this is a fair application of IAR, thanks for your explanation -- PhantomSteve.alt/talk\[alternative account of Phantomsteve] 17:48, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. – Athaenara 17:50, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bruce Berman (Brody Berman Associates)

in re: Bruce Berman (Brody Berman Associates) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi Athaenara, You have recently delete the Bruce Berman article. I have a basic understanding of the reasons, but I was wondering if you can give me some advice on how to re-create the article prevent it from being labeled as "unambiguous advertising." Bruce Berman has written many books and contributed greatly to the press and I would really like to see his actions recognized. Thank you for your time! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bbaassistant (talkcontribs) 17:37, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Vanguard Cleaning Systems

in re: Vanguard Cleaning Systems (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hello, Athaenara. You deleted a page that was created in 2009 and I'd like to rewrite/repost a more objective version. The page was entitled Vanguard Cleaning Systems. Can you help? Heistenmark (talk) 04:26, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's highly unlikely that you, a VP of the company (or any of your employees), would approach the subject with neutral objectivity per the Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) guideline. As I've spent thousands of hours cleaning up after spammers, I have precisely zero interest in assisting efforts to promote anything on Wikipedia (see the Wikipedia:Spam guideline). I posted a {{uw-coi}} on your talk page to cast a little light on your position here. – Athaenara 07:20, 29 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I see a lot of sites like this - they seem to be a subtle form of advertising. What is your opinion? --Greenmaven (talk) 10:50, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It certainly does seem to be intended to promote the company. Pages like this are usually created by spas (as in this case) with no other interest in Wikipedia, which suggests a coi. I posted a {{uw-coi}} on User talk:Markkitenga and added a few tags to the article. It could be tagged {{db-g11}} for deletion as spam or nominated for AFD. – Athaenara 21:22, 27 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of World Rally Radio for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article World Rally Radio is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Rally Radio until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.

Dear Athaenara,

I saw that you deleted an article which I proposed for speedy deletion. Since you are one of the admins, I want to bring this to your notice, In a hurry I have put this page User:Vasai Pathology Laboratory for CSD under G2 instead of G11. Please do have a look on it. User Mark Marxer page deletion

Hello,

I was not able to post a response to the debate regarding the deletion of my page prior to you deleting it. The page was not a fake article, as "frankie" claimed, I requested the username be renamed as I simply didn't understand why "user" was included in the username.

Furthermore, in response to the argument: "WP:FAKEARTICLE. The subject doesn't appear to be notable. I love the sentence "A native of the U.S. state of California (he grew up in Eugene Oregon),..." ~~ Hi878 (Come shout at me!) 20:23, 2 July 2011 (UTC" This was simply a typo that has been fixed.

This page was simply an autobiographical piece and if you could give me any helpful suggestions as to how I can re-post without conflict I would appreciate it. Thank you! Mark Marxer 17:59, 6 July 2011 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markmarxer (talkcontribs)

I don't know whether you've read WP:NOTRESUME or what part of the Wikipedia:Spam guideline you don't understand. I didn't delete it as a fake userpage, I deleted it per WP:CSD#G11 as spam. The lack of a phone number or a website link hardly made it any less unambiguous promotion. You are what is known in Wikipedia parlance as a coi spa: a single-purpose accound with a conflict of interest. You may get some good advice on the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard, and you may appeal to Wikipedia:Deletion review. – Athaenara 22:34, 6 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting, the user's talk page has the same borderline advertising content, though potentially an article as you said. Wikipedia talk:User pages is on more than 2,000 watchlists so I'd expect a fairly prompt response if you ask about it there. – Athaenara 07:07, 14 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Athaenara. I see that you deleted some talk page for some Dew Tour articles. I was wondering if you could tell me what account created those talk pages and if there was any sort of substantial message there. I wrote a lengthy report here but to summarize, there was a large COI with about 25 different pages that were all deleted. As of until just now, there has been no real response from the company that was responsible for creating all of the articles. I'd like to see if they understand what happened or have questions. I am concerned that the above page has been deleted. The same person deleted Gihan Sami Soliman, which probably deserved deletion. Both pages were heavily edited by Gihan Sami Soliman under the name Doveye. Her own self-created page Gihan Sami Soliman could not be verified and there were issues around NPOV and Notability. The discussion on her Talk page might interest you. However, I am concerned that Azeem, as a published scientist of some repute in his field, was sufficiently notable, and the article was of good enough quality to merit a 'keep' verdict. see also: European Communication Research and Education Association (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hi

could you please respond to my request not to delete the entry ECREA - European Communication Research and Education Association

I wrote the following as a response to the claim that the page is advertising an organisation only: This page should not be speedy deleted because... --AnnKaun (talk) 14:51, 28 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

it describes the work and structure of an idealistic, non-commercial association that is connecting European Media and Communication Scholars. It is one of the leading scholarly associations when it comes to media studies. There are Wikipedia entries that refer to similar associations (see ICA - Internation Communication Association and ESN - network of the IAMCR).

The page has been written by people that are loosely linked to the association, but that have enough knowledge to write an encyclopedia entry.

We hope that you can re-think the deletion! We are not advertising, we are informing! thanks for considering. anne

Furthermore ECREA is named in several other entries on here and should be explained and defined as well. See for example the entry "communication studies" mentions ECREA: "National Communication Association (NCA): The main national professional organization covering many of the areas of communication studies in the U.S. International Communication Association is the main international association for communication studies, which combines an older focus on quantitatively based social science studies with newer critical and cultural studies of communicative phenomena. Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication Association for Business Communication (ABC) International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Society for Technical Communication (STC) Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) is the main European association for communication studies. European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) is the main European association for writing studies. Association for Teachers of Technical Writing (ATTW) International Association for Media and Communications Research (IAMCR) is a large international association for communication studies. ECREA is the main European association for communication studies"

I ask you to reconsider the deletion. best a. — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnnKaun (talkcontribs) 06:42, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Athaenara,

This website will also help others users to find out people with similar interests ad communicate productively. This will enhance their talent and be motivated enough to perform. Such a website is very important for people who cannot perform on stage all the time. They can interact fruitfully online with others of similar interest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ramgirm (talkcontribs) 15:35, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It was deleted because it was promotional (see the Wikipedia:Spam guideline) and there was no indication that it met the Wikipedia:Notability requirements. – Athaenara 21:44, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Rising Stars of India

Please check out the latest details in discussion tab. How about the following text:

"‘Rising Stars of India’ is a social networking site launched by ZonoPact Entertainment in 2011. This website is designed & developed by ZonoPact Infotech to help people with talents to interact with each other and enhance their talents. This website is for people to upload their music, dance, song and act videos and to interact with other upcoming stars. This is for fruitful interaction between various talented people around the world." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.250.147.76 (talk) 17:13, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The comments in my first reply above apply here as well: it is promotional and there is no indication of notability per this encyclopedia's standards. – Athaenara 21:21, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am unable to understand what is exactly expected. As a third person to this, I understand that this website is very useful useful as I myself was searching for such a site and found it online. This matter contains only 2 lines of facts about the website. Just as a matter of concern, have you checked any other social networking website wiki? Have you seen the numbers they all mention and have pages long of self boasting and self promoting sentences? Here, I have mentioned 'what' it is and 'how' is it relevant. I guess that is what is needed. So, please indicate which part of it you are not happy about.

Check this one if that satisfies you: ‘Rising Stars of India’ is a social networking site launched in 2011.' If this is even problematic and SELF BOASTING, is it ok to leave just the name ‘Rising Stars of India’ and let people find out the details by themselves? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.250.147.76 (talk) 23:18, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Page deleted without response

The User page "Ryan Totka" was set for speedy delete this week. As the third party contractor who wrote the article, I contested the deletion and requested advisement as to what I could do to make the article more "encyclopedic". I received no response, and found the article deleted today. Can the article be un-deleted so that I can make adjustments on it to make it fit better under the Wiki parameters? Also, once I make the adjustments, do I need to name it differently since this page was deleted under "Ryan Totka"? RTotka (talk) 22:56, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest you study the {{uw-coi}} warning which was posted on your talk page and seriously reconsider your intention to re-create the article. – Athaenara 23:01, 7 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm a bit confused about this at the moment, and so far have not gotten answers to my questions. This is not the first BIO that I have helped create, Wiki and otherwise. I modeled that BIO after other Wiki pages that are still on Wikipedia and have been for quite some time. I am in no way affiliated with Ryan Totka or his companies, other than writing this page, as he sent me the picture and a couple of links. I am a third party contractor who is completely neutral, whether or not it sounded that way in the initial posting. The screen name information was created under Mr. Totka's name for the purpose of creating the page. Should I decide to re-write it, and it fit the neutral tone and resume style, as other pages clearly do, will the article be allowed to be published? I don't understand why other BIO's are clearly published live, but this one cannot be. 67.142.178.21 (talk) 02:41, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Is there some part of because it only promotes an entity, person or product and would require a fundamental rewrite in order to become encyclopedic (see the {{db-g11}} template) which you don't understand? The page you wrote was irretrievable spam. – Athaenara 02:47, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your kind response. My question remains however; if the article is re-written so that it is not "irretrievable spam" can it be published? Please see example article as posted on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penelope_Jean. This is the intended format for the page "Ryan Totka". 67.142.178.21 (talk) 03:18, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That page is spam as well. Is Success10 (talk · contribs) another account of yours? How many accounts have you used to write articles as a "third party contractor"? – Athaenara 18:15, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I am a third party contractor/freelance writer. I write about many things and for many people, most of which has nothing to do with Wiki. This is the first Wiki that I personally have created under an account. Generally I organize the information or edit/proofread articles or pages that aren't organized well, that's it. I work independent from these people and their companies, etc. Many people aren't proficient with formatting and organization, as you well know I'm sure. My primary issue here, was that I wanted someone to tell me what needed to happen, because I didn't know, and wasn't getting clarity. Now that I have such clarity, I will not bother you further. I appreciate your wonderfully professional, polite attitude toward a stranger seeking guidance. Have a good day. RTotka (talk) 04:33, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If you're not Ryan Totka, why are you using his name on this encyclopedia? – Athaenara 04:37, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I used the account that is in his name so that we both could view the edits that I had made to his original intended article. I am an editor/proofer/organizer, who was attempting to help him get his CORP BIO published successfully. I have never met him personally, and am in fact, a complete third party. I independently researched the information and compiled the article, then he verified the accuracy of the information that I had gathered. Since we live in different states and schedules, and have never met, it made more sense for us both to have access to view the work in progress. If this is an issue, which neither of us would imagine since we both agreed to mutual access, I do apologize. RTotka (talk) 04:44, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And with that relationship, which so clearly compromises neutrality (see the Wikipedia:Neutral point of view policy), you didn't think you had a conflict of interest? What you and your client considered "accuracy" was not encyclopedic but highly promotional. – Athaenara 04:50, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) I've deleted Penelope Jean and tagged Tali Giat to receive the same treatment as a complete fluff piece. To RTotka - read and understand WP:BIO, WP:RS and WP:V before agreeing to write more biographies. SmartSE (talk) 07:56, 9 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Undelete "Prologis" page

Athaenara,

Our company changed names from "ProLogis" to "Prologis" (simply lowercasing the L, a change that resulted from a merger). Our intention was simply to change the name of the Wiki entry, but apparently the process required taking the page "ProLogis" down and putting the page "Prologis" up.

Now it appears the page "Prologis" has been deleted as well. The company still exists, and everything on the page is verifiable. Can you please undelete the page so that we may continue to edit and improve it?

That page was tagged at 10:23, 19 July 2011 (UTC) for {{proposed deletion}} by ErrantX (talk · contribs), whose concern was Fails WP:CORP, no sources of note appear to exist which cover this company independently and in significant depth. ErrantX's concern was endorsed at 16:52, 21 July 2011 (UTC) by Ihcoyc (talk · contribs), who added Also note leading global non-neutral text and blatant advertising. Per WP:PROD, seven days passed during which time other editors could have addressed the concern or objected. That did not happen, so it was deleted after a week (note that Prologis was the article and ProLogis was a redirect to it). You may list it at Requests for undeletion if you wish, but your conflict of interest is a concern. – Athaenara 17:44, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for this info. I am very new to this and would be interested in learning how companies deal with the conflict of interest issue, i.e., how does a company start and maintain its own Wikipedia entry? Is it even possible?

Also, an editor/contributor to the article, was not notified of the concerns noted above. Is there something I'm doing wrong to have missed this notification? I knew only of the entry's deletion because my boss noticed it was missing. 63.76.147.114 (talk) 19:13, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You need to read the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest guideline. It would help if you identify the registered account(s) you were using as well. – Athaenara 19:23, 8 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Iteris

in re: Iteris (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Deletion of article on Iteris

I wrote the original content for Iteris. It was my first foray into writing an article for Wikipedia. I noted within a short time that the article had been tagged as marketing material. I rewrote the article with the intention of making it more encyclopedic. I thought I had done that well and the page remained for awhile. I don't check the site very often for changes and just discovered that the Iteris article had been deleted. Since I don't check very often, I didn't have an opportunity to comment on your request for Speedy Deletion or fix any specific issues. I have two requests:

  • Can you help me put the article back in place? I believe the technology Iteris develops is worth including within Wikipedia, e.g. Iteris is mentioned in the 2001 portion of the Timeline section of Lane departure warning system. I want to make sure the Iteris article conforms to the Wikipedia guidelines.
  • Can you recommend tools to monitor pages? I could have acted before the deletion occurred had I known. Also, I once had to deal with a vandal on the Iteris page.

Thanks in advance,

IterisWebmaster (talk) 16:08, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Well, it looks like you are what is known on Wikipedia as a coi spa, a single purpose account with a conflict of interest. I posted a {{uw-coi}} warning on your talk page to provide you with more information about how this is viewed here. – Athaenara 20:20, 15 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The intention for the account name was to be open and forthcoming. The intention of the article was to stick within the Wikipedia guidelines. Can you provide me with the last content on the site? I will edit it further (e.g. more third-party references) and post it as me ([David Rossman]) to fit better with the Wikipedia guidelines. I can even provide you a copy for review before posting. Thank you. IterisWebmaster (talk) 16:49, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You are free to explain your intentions and desires, as you have here, at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion. I'd rather not undelete it myself. – Athaenara 23:00, 16 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of article on eSecureData

My concern is with the deletion of an article I just saved, "eSecuredata" for the following reason: (G11: Unambiguous advertising or promotion: more at User talk:Henriwrites -please read Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox)

I'd like to point out that the article for the company was based on <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1%261_Internet">1&1 Internet</a>, which is a similar company to eSecureData. I was careful to try to find as many outside sources as possible other than that found on the company's website. If you read the Wiki entry on 1&1 Internet, you will see that I have tried to maintain a similar tone and used a voice that was neutral.

Can you look at this?

Hi, Athaenara. This article was on my watchlist as I had attempted communication with it's creator (afterwards blocked for username problems). The article has reappeared, created by someone with a seemingly similar promotional intent. I can't see the original content so I can't tell if the current article is any different than the one you deleted. I have checked the artist list for Island Def Jam Digital Music Group and the article subject is not listed on the website. The current article needs wikification but I don't want to waste my time if the thing needs prodding or AfD-ing. If you could offer an opinion about the article's survivability I would appreciate it. Hi, the editor who created this article (PRODded by me and deleted by you) is objecting to the deletion (see the discussion here). He's a newbie (at least as far as number of edits is concerned), so I have posted some advice on his talk page (and answered several emails from him), but perhaps it would be good if you had a look, too, because he claims that the PROD deletion was not according to procedure. I found no communications from Ademman to me for July of any year (per "I told this on July 29 to Athaenara" on the user's talk page), deleted or not, though another account or an anonIP may have been used. The deletion was straightforward and Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion would be the usual route for contesting it. – Athaenara 22:14, 23 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the info. I have submitted to have it reinstated. I hope that my interest in the matter is not a true conflick as I just want what was there back. This is not spam, there is a legitimate reason why the site was listed by someone and it should remain as other sites that are very similar have a wiki entry. Hi Athaenara, my article was deleted by you sometime in August. I've edited the article and would need your help to review if there's any issue with it.
