You're doing good work on improving the page. The intro is much better. I had a suggestion: if what we can learn about the subject is limited to his warlike activity, then perhaps the legacy section should contain quotes or generalizations from authorities specifying what kind of warrior Steuart was. Was he known for his battlefield heroics, his good common sense in troop handling, his ability to inspire courage and determination in his men? think of the end section less as a chronological section, but more of a "why do we remember him?" section. Are schools named after him, was a ship named for him, are towns or geographical features named for him? Is there a statue somewhere? How did the lives of his offspring turn out? Most importantly, did he write or edit anything about his wartime experiences? I'll bet he did. All of these things one would expect to find in the ending section of a biography. Good luck in your work. Already the page is much improved. If I can help, I'm willing to lend advice on sources or how to search. I'm seeing a few other things which will need work, but you're doing fine. BusterD (talk) 12:46, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
Lots of great stuff in George H. Steuart (militia general)Have you considered joining Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography, Wikipedia:WikiProject Maryland, or Wikipedia:WikiProject Military History? I'm sure there are subjects in those projects which would interest you and deserve your attention once you've completed your budding set of Steuart pages... All the best and love your work! re: Colonial families of MarylandHey, no problem! I didn't know that either. Anyway thank you for it! I wish I could give you one for Henry Darnall. I've lived in Maryland and am fascinated by its sophisticated Colonial culture. I have an English ancestor who came to Baltimore in the 1840s-50s towards the end of Maryland's manorial days. Could be interesting, what with Mob Quad, the chapel and other aspects to discuss. Let me know if you are - I have some book sources that may be useful. BarnstarsI have posted a message which you may find of interest at User_talk:DinDraithou#Barnstar. JamesBWatson (talk) 19:46, 4 March 2010 (UTC) You are now a ReviewerHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC). Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here. If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:45, 15 June 2010 (UTC) Hello. In January you added a citation to a book from the "Webster's Quotations" series published by Icon Group International to this article. Unfortunately, Icon Group International is not a reliable source - their books are computer-generated, with most of the text copied from Wikipedia (most entries have [WP] by them to indicate this, see e.g. [1]). I've only removed the reference, not the text it was referencing, i.e. that Charles County, Maryland was named after him. I'm removing a lot of similar references as they are circular references; many other editors have also been duped by these sources. Another publisher to be wary of as they reuse Wikipedia articles is Alphascript Publishing. Fences&Windows 01:11, 24 July 2010 (UTC) BarnstarThank you so much for the barnstar! I feel so honoured. :-) It's great to see that the work I've spent on the article has not been ignored.--LaukkuTheGreit (Talk•Contribs) 10:12, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
citationsOn the Rev. James Maury/James Maury_(Counsul) article, it is asked that citations are needed. My Point Of View is that they already exist. I ask, specifically, what do you want to be cited? I personally would have made that area into two articles but I didn't create all of that article. However, I did start as far back as 2006 and during those 4 years I no longer recall the materials I had at hand during that time and therefore cannot cite some material. However, there are two books listed as references as well as there are citations within the article(s). I would like to know what it is that needs to be cited and especially since I read the "Mary Washington" article that looks terrible to me including the "suppositions" included in that small article which is half iof the article. If you are asking for the genealogy source that shows on Rev. James Maury, I would state that it is in many places on internet but I have it in a family book that is listed as a source on that article, "The Maury Family Tree" by Sue C. West. If you want to know about what Thomas Jefferson stated about the Rev. James Maury then that can be found in Thomas Jefferson's autobiography. Just please tell me exactly what you are looking at to cause you to state that a citation is needed. Again, I contributed as far back as 2006 but I believe that I can still cite what I covered in the article. Others have also contributed and they too have included citations in the article. Too, please do look at the Mary Washinghton article so that it too can be bettered. I am in no way offended with what your point of view is and I do applaud you for your work as I do others. We build together. Why cannot I get my account back?Asteuartw, I had the account of William Maury Morris and contributed a lot under that account. At some point I took a break for other work and forget my password. My account was then lost and I posted for help but got none. With that account I did not leave an e-mail which is optional but with this one, William Maury Morris II, I have. I like to see my contributions showing on my account and this I am using now has very few because this is fairly new. Please e-mail me whatever is needed to get back my William Maury Morris account the e-mail I have listed on this account and after I have that back this account William Maury Morris II can be cast aside as I really prefer my previous account of William Maury Morris. Thank you for your consideration. William Maury Morris II (talk) 19:27, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Grandfather should not be capitalized. It should be in small letters to be correct, but it is not necessary to identify him as the grandfather in the caption in any event. His name is fine. --Bookworm857158367 (talk) 00:44, 22 March 2011 (UTC) A photograph of Billy Bishop on the page of Edward MannockHello, I recently removed a picture of Billy Bishop from the wikipedia page of Edward Mannock, which you seem to have taken some offence at. I removed the picture because I can see no reason whatsoever for it being there. Billy Bishop was indeed the leading British Empire ace -- as the caption on the photograph in question indicates. Again, what this has to do with Edward Mannock specifically is quite unknown to me. Billy Bishop was certainly a very great man, so I am pleased to find that his wikipedia entry bears many pictures of him, and that depictions of his appearance are not in short supply for those wishing to visit his page. If the logic is that a photograph of Bishop should be on the page of Edward Mannock because both served in the Royal Flying Corps and Bishop was it's leading ace, then surely Bishop's photograph ought to be on the wikipedia entry of each and every man who served in that unit during WWI. Thank you for taking the time to read this message, and I very much hope that you will see my point. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.9.51.207 (talk) 22:30, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
DWP and IBYou reverted my edit where I'd removed a reference to the number of people on IB on the DWP page. I removed it because the DWP administer a large number of benefits, not just IB, so it makes little sense to focus on the number of people receiving that benefit above all others. By focussing on this benefit, it also advances a PoV viewpoint, that there are too many people receiving disability benefits. I'd appreciate it if you would either delete it again, or discuss. --Phil Holmes (talk) 16:35, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

The Thief and the CobblerNot sure if you've been following your AIV report, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry I doubted you :) --Bongwarrior (talk) 20:53, 27 February 2013 (UTC)
AIV reportThanks for your report at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism about the problem on The Thief and the Cobbler. I have semi-protected the article for a while. Feel free to contact me if the problem returns. I have a word of advice for any future occasion when you may want to make a report at AIV. The report was at first rejected by an admin who didn't see the problem, and nor did I to begin with. In a case like this, where the problem may not be obvious to an outsider looking at it for the first time, give a few words of explanation: in this case it would be enough to say that the editor had been changing IP addresses. Otherwise, there is a danger that no action will be taken because the reviewing administrator simply does not see the problem. (And yes, I do know that the instructions say "keep it short", but don't be too intimidated by that: if a few words of explanation are needed, then give them.) I'm wondering if there was any connection between the Sykes name in Norris, Sykes and Fisher, and others in John Sykes and Sons - be interesting if there is. In the meantime, Norris, Sykes and Fisher gave evidence to a Factories Inquiry Commission, giving details of their type of mill, and their employees pay and working conditions - here - reffed as <ref>Supplementary Report of the Central Board of H. Maj. Commissioners. Factories Inquiry Commission; Part 2 (1834), volume 50, p.73-74. ISBN 1236471237</ref>. This shows that Norris, Sykes and Fisher mills were called Bank Bottom Upper and Lower. I don't like to web link Google books as they have a habit of blocking you after a number of looks - not good for the article reader - I just get the info, title, and page number. Here is a good page - Marsden through the Ages - that mentions Bank Bottom Mills and Crowther, that might be useful for the article or for the Marsden place article. The book text is on Word Press (a blog, so might be tricky reffing though it's for serious subjects mainly), but the stuff is also sold on Amazon - here. You could use the web stuff and ref it to </ref>Pearson, E., Irene (1984); Marsden Through the Ages, p.xxx. ISBN 095095330X</ref> - you might get away with it being a vanity publication as it has an ISBN. Hope this is of help. Best wishes. Acabashi (talk) 22:58, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
RE: Planter vs MayorHello, Asteuartw, and thanks for your reply and offer of help. Without getting involved in a dispute about how common the name "William Steuart" is in places like 18th-century Baltimore City where there are many Scots, I will proceed to the issue at hand. The situation currently seems to be that my article has been disapproved, but posted nevertheless, except that its "edit" page contains the earlier article that my article attempts to correct. My article thus cannot be edited, which it needs, without rewriting the whole thing. I posted it after much difficulty learning the editing procedure, and at a point where I was bleary-eyed (and bleary-minded), and it definitely needs to have a couple of typos corrected. You suggest that I post both a planter and a mayor page, which seems reasonable except that I have no information qualifying me to write about the planter. I do not think it is creditable to Wikipedia for people to post articles after quickly checking out the subject from a basis of complete ignorance. I do know a little about the mayor, or certainly enough to distinguish him from the planter. It seems to me that what is needed, therefore, is a way for me to correct the typos in my article and include the correct picture, and for someone who knows something about the planter to submit an article about him. The original article was titled for the mayor, after all, and what I did was correct wrong statements about the mayor. Do you feel inclined to write the planter article? Any thoughts? Thanks again for your interest. LAndrewes (talk) 21:56, 2 April 2014 (UTC) Orphaned non-free image File:Encounters Festival logo.jpgThanks for uploading File:Encounters Festival logo.jpg.
