More specifically, this refers the most recent of this development which appeared in the early 21st century. This was the direct consequence of the fall of baath regime in 2003 which was famous for its arabization of non-arab minorities in the north of the country. The rise of the extremist ISIS in the years 2014-2015 which had as its goal eradication of all non-Islamic identities, including Christian Aramaic-speakers, help raise awareness regarding the history and unique culture of these groups. Many experts see this phenomenon as a further evidence of the obsoleteness of the Sykes–Picot Agreement<<http://blogs.reuters.com/great-debate/2014/10/24/sykes-picot-drew-lines-in-the-middle-easts-sand-that-blood-is-washing-away/>>. We welcome and appreciate your contributions, including your edits to Darius the Mead, but we cannot accept original research. Original research refers to material—such as facts, allegations, ideas, and personal experiences—for which no reliable, published sources exist; it also encompasses combining published sources in a way to imply something that none of them explicitly say. Please be prepared to cite a reliable source for all of your contributions. Thank you. Doug Weller talk 08:53, 2 March 2017 (UTC) |
