There's still plenty of time to join a panel, or to propose a lightning talk or an open space session. Register for the Wiki-Conference here. And sign up here for on-wiki notification. All are invited! Usurping a accountHi, I'm a user from a Estonian Wikipedia page with the name Chandos (the page is displayed in Estonian, but still...). When unifying accounts I discovered that the username Chandos was taken on the French, English and German Wikipedia pages. The most I would care about is the English Wikipedian page. I checked out the user's page and there was nothing. I checked out if anything linked to his account, but nothing. I'd appreciate it if you could take a look at it and perhaps usurp that account so I could use the English Wiki with the same username as well. -Note: I don't know if you are exactly the right person, but the Wiki help page said me to contact a bureaucrat. --88.196.177.222 (talk) 22:08, 5 August 2010 (UTC) Note: I read the usurping a account article and I guess I don't really need you to directly do it. I put the required line on the target account and I'll see what happens... --88.196.177.222 (talk) 22:08, 5 August 2010 (UTC) Unified loginI want to have unified my accounts which I am using @ Polish Wiki (as user:Gripper) and English (as: GripperPoland). What should I do? I was having droblems to figured out my myself. GripperPoland (talk) 20:59, 9 August 2010 (UTC) Core policyYou are an admin, you should know core policy - unsourced material can be challenged and removed at any time. I've challenged it and removed it, the onus is now on you or others to find sources to support it's inclusion not for me to present a reason to keep it out. Basic core policy. --Cameron Scott (talk) 19:45, 14 September 2010 (UTC) Standard editing practice, COI does not apply to internal actions such as this. Also do you have any sources for the material you are trying to add to that article? I've already asked once. --Cameron Scott (talk) 20:36, 14 September 2010 (UTC) You are currently at 3RR and attempting to subvert core policy by refusing to provide sources for material you are trying to force into an article. There is no prohibition for editors involved in an AFD to stop adding it, however normal policies do and still apply, so I'll ask one final time, do you have any sources to support your additions? If you don't have any sources, why do you insist on edit-warring to keep it in? --Cameron Scott (talk) 20:38, 14 September 2010 (UTC) Please read WP:PROVEIT - it's clear and explict: The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material. Do you think you are exempt in some way? --Cameron Scott (talk) 20:40, 14 September 2010 (UTC) You are however restoring it, it's the same as far as WP:PROVEIT is concerned - what is difficult to understand about this? I have asked you a number of times for sources and get no answer, yet you insist in adding unsourced material. --Cameron Scott (talk) 20:44, 14 September 2010 (UTC) "nd I'm not protecting the article, blocking you, etc etc." - of course not, you are involved and such moves would be abusive and also without course as I haven't done anything blockable. --Cameron Scott (talk) 20:45, 14 September 2010 (UTC) Wikipedia NYC Meetup Sat Oct 16
In the afternoon, we will hold a session dedicated to meta:Wikimedia New York City activities, review the recent Wiki-Conference NYC 2010, plan for the next stages of projects like Wikipedia Ambassador Program and Wikipedia Academy, and hold salon-style group discussions on Wikipedia and the other Wikimedia projects (see the May meeting's minutes). In the evening, we'll share dinner and chat at a local restaurant, and generally enjoy ourselves and kick back. You can add or remove your name from the New York City Meetups invite list at Wikipedia:Meetup/NYC/Invite list. To keep up-to-date on local events, you can also join our mailing list. Help! What happens if i create an alternate account (ie. i sign out, create a new account and use that one along with this one). All participants have been placed on an "Inactive participants" list. To confirm that you're still a member of the Nintendo task force, simply go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Nintendo#Members and move your name from the "Inactive participants" list to the bottom of the "Active participants" list. If you are no longer an active member in the task force, you may simply remove your name altogether. On 23 December, all entries under the "Inactive participants" list will be removed. Hopefully you can stay with us and continue to work on Nintendo-related articles. A particular highlight for the wiki crowd will be 'Seductive Subversion: Women Pop Artists, 1958โ1968', and the accompanying "WikiPop" project, with specially-created Wikipedia articles on the artists displayed on iPads in the gallery. This will be a museum touring and partying meetup, so no excuses about being a shy newbie this time. Bring a friend too! I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license. If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. I had consulted editors, and gotten it reviewed by other wikipedia users way back in 23rd April 2009 even before I set up the page. I had referenced a number of entries in the same domain (online collaboration) before setting up the page - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebEx, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Box.net, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zoho, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zimbra http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Central_Desktop. The article is exactly the same in tone as these other articles. If anything, the article has been cleaned and more references have been added since it was put up. Please reconsider taking down the flags in light of the above.--wikiliscious (talk) 16:45, 22 March 2011 (UTC) Navy FieldGreetings, you once contributed to a previous AfD on webgame Navy Field, this article is up for deletion again and your input would be appreciated.--Sloane (talk) 01:29, 31 March 2011 (UTC) PRODHi there, you appear to have PROD'd an article here, but not given a reason as to why it should be deleted. Would you care to provide one? Cheers, Jenks24 (talk) 15:58, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
Mediation committeeSix years, two months, and 25 days ago, you welcomed me to Wikipedia. Thank you. It's been great fun, and I expect it will continue to be for many years to come. A lot has happened; for instance, I'm now a sysop. It's interesting seeing the wiki from this perspective, but one thing that bothers me is that so few users are willing to communicate. You politely warn someone, delete a page, and oftentimes it's like user vanishes off the Earth. Lately I've been looking for more two-sided interactions, which makes me interested in the Mediation Committee. I have moderate experience in dispute resolution, something I was commended for in my RfA. I'm not sure if I'm ready to apply right now to be a mediator, but I'd be interested in your thoughts on the matter. Feezo (send a signal | watch the sky) 11:36, 9 April 2011 (UTC)
RFC on the inclusion of a table comparing SI units and binary prefixesNotice: An RFC is being conducted here at Talk:Hard diskdrive#RFC on the use of the IEC prefixes. The debate concerns this table which includes columns comparing SI and Binary prefixes to describe storage capacity.
