DYK--howcheng {chat} 18:16, 18 March 2007 (UTC) CinemaCongratualtions on getting the Egyptian film on the front page. Great!!! I bet there are still tons of missing notble films from Egypt. I have been filling in the lists of late, gratefully with the help of many users. HOwever I came across the Assamese cinema article which was only four lines long, which when compared to Bollywood articles looks shameful. I started Joymati and Phani Sarma which I aim to make B-class. After the Abbas Kiarostami ordeal I think my next conquest for a feature will be the The Maltese Falcon (1941 film) which I added most of the content to but needs some copyediting and condensing and referencing. I f I can get some people to help with this I think it look spromising. Hey you think 300 the film looks good? (THat dleltion nomination stil hasn't ended)!!!! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 17:46, 18 March 2007 (UTC) Wikiproject Actors and FilmakersHey see my proposals at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals and the main WP Film talk page. KNow anybody who is interested? Actor and all film people articles need a body on wikipedia to upkeep them -it would be a part of Biogrpahy and Film ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 14:48, 19 March 2007 (UTC) Signpost updated for March 20th, 2007.

I solemnly swear to use these shiny new tools with honour and DYK medalThank you for awarding me the DYK medal. It's great to see appreciation for my efforts. Here's some trivia for you from a trivia buff: Did you know:
WikiProject SyriaJust thought I'd ask you about this, we have 6 users now, and I think that just starting the project page and writing down some goals would be beneficial. It's totally up to you when to begin with this, but I'm just thinking that having at least project goals written down will be a much needed first step. Thanks. Asabbagh 05:17, 23 March 2007 (UTC) Model page for WikiProject Film Bio startedI have started a page model for the new project User:Ernst Stavro Blofeld/Film biography page model. Please note that it is still in its infancy stage and the templates have not been fully completed. THis is how I'd like the page to look but with an adaption of the task side plate further to incorprate film and biography goals on wikipedia. What do you think as a start? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "I've been expecting you" 16:18, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
WikiProject SyriaGreat job on creating Wikipedia:WikiProject Syria, it looks really nice Bazel 19:56, 23 March 2007 (UTC) My RfAThank you for support in my unsuccessful RfA. I appreciate the support, and am disappointed on being judged by what in most opinions seem to be the wrong things. Until next time, edit on! :) — RevRagnarok Talk Contrib 03:52, 24 March 2007 (UTC) {{Syria-bio-stub}}Hi - I see you have recently created a new stub type. As it states at Wikipedia:Stub, at the top of most stub categories, and in many other places on Wikipedia, it is recommended that new stub types are proposed prior to creation at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, in order to check whether the new stub type is already covered by existing stub types, whether it is named according to stub naming guidelines, whether it reaches the standard threshold for creation of a new stub type, and whether it crosses existing stub type hierarchies. Your new stub type is currently listed at WP:WSS/D - please feel free to make any comments there as to any rationale for this stub type. And please, in future, consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 03:58, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
RFAThankyou for your support to my RFA! It was successful, cheers. SGGH 20:27, 24 March 2007 (UTC) WikiProjectHello. I am fine. WikiProject Syria looks very good. Signing in ... :) - Darwinek 13:17, 25 March 2007 (UTC) WikiProject SyriaCongratulations, Anas. You started a new project. The design is outstanding. Thank you, also for your kind words. My Ar RfA is scheduled to end on April 8. I was granted also temporary sysyop access in the Ar Wikinews to help start the project. Best wishes. --Meno25 18:18, 25 March 2007 (UTC) RFA ThanksI would like to thank you for your support in my recent RFA. As you may or may not be aware, it passed with approximately 99% support. I ensure you that I will use the tools well, and if I ever disappoint you, I am open to recall. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to leave me a note on my talkpage. Thanks again, ^demon[omg plz] 20:35, 25 March 2007 (UTC) Autograph BookThanks for signing! Your userpage is sweet. --Cremepuff222 (talk, review me!) 22:56, 25 March 2007 (UTC) No problemHi there Anas. Of course, no problems whatsoever if you use the WP:MESO design as a starting point for your new project- I see you've already made some handy developments for WP:SYRIA. You needn't have, but I appreciate you letting me know. And thanks for picking up on those couple of link errors- as I'm sure you'll find it is a neverending job keeping it all up to date, and no doubt you'll be able to make further improvements to the benefit of your project. Thanks again, and good luck with it all. Regards, --cjllw | TALK 00:18, 26 March 2007 (UTC) WP tagI am not sure if you are running an automatic bot or doing AWB manually, but try avoid tagging articles who will most probably fall out of the scope of WikiProject Syria like here [1] [2]. Or at least tag the ones who are obviously related to Syria automatically or manually using AWB, then do the others by hand. Cheers! Baristarim 02:13, 26 March 2007 (UTC) Or like this one [3] :) Baristarim 02:19, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
ThanksMany thanks for the Barnstar! I look forward to the day when Middle Eastern co-operation is as fruitful as it (mostly) is on Wikipedia! Number 57 10:37, 26 March 2007 (UTC) Paul AnkaHi. Thank you for your note. I appreciate your providing reliable sources to support the assertion that Anka is of Syrian descent. The problem is, comparably reliable sources, such as the Washington Post, the CBC (here and here), and even a different Time magazine article, all state that he is of Lebanese descent. In the Post item, Anka is even quoted talking about Lebanon; he was in D.C. to receive a "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the American Task Force for Lebanon. Perhaps most compelling of all, Anka's official website says that he is of Lebanese descent. Here is what I suggest we do. We change the text back to Lebanese descent and use the above sources. In one of the footnotes, we add this statement (along with your sources): "Note that some sources suggest that Anka is of Syrian, rather than Lebanese, descent." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vbd (talk • contribs) 21:51, 26 March 2007 (UTC).

I hope you like the organization i have made in Portal:Syria and the colors in it .. it is mostly the colors of syrian flag but we can discuss any change you suggest or maybe put that in discussion in wikiproject syria . I really hope to find more time to work on syria-related articles here .. they really need much of work ..Peace --Chaos 19:17, 27 March 2007 (UTC) RFA Thanks
Cinema in EgyptHi there, I remove them because they are not directly related to the topic and generally look badly. If they were templates including the names of the directors etc., then they should be included.--Thomas.macmillan 22:50, 28 March 2007 (UTC)

The reason I put the tag on those is that the Malaysian language also uses the Arabic script. The tag is not just for Arabic language additions, but for any script that uses Arabic, like Somali or Divehi, where the Arab traders left their writing systems. Chris 00:28, 30 March 2007 (UTC) RfA thanksThanks re: Arabic MoSThanks, Anas, for the barnstar! You made my day! I'm in and out of Wiki depending on how heavy my course workload is, so I just found this. -- I am still curious about the "solar letters" thing. This isn't a criticism in anyway, but everyone I've asked about it has never heard of this terminology so I'm quite interested in where/ from whom you learned this particular way of describing the sun/moon letters. :-) warm regards. Greek-Egyptian co-productionsHi Anas! I was filling up the early years of Greek films and I found out that around 1937-1943 there were some Greek, Greek-Egyptian films directed by Togo Mizrahi. Can you take a look at his filmography [4]? If he is a prominent figure in Egyptian cinema, maybe we could start a biography? Hoverfish Talk 22:00, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
My RfA
Thanks for the welcomeHi Anas, Thanks for welcoming me on my talk page. I assume it has been pro-forma, as I have been active editing several pages already. You can check my contributions, if you like. So far, I don't think I've done anything particularly controversial, mostly minor copyediting. I have pust some work into the page on glans, though, and I think the quality is somewhat better, though still in need of a few references. Wouldn't mind someone checking it out. I guess that's my one big question - how do I get some editorial suggestions on the page? Thanks again --Esseh 20:29, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
There, tried to make up for it by adding a couple of interesting tidbits and making a minor correction. Damned if I can remember the name of the Darwin biography I read one of the tidbits in, though. Think it was called The Origin, or some such. Will look it up. Esseh 12:44, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

PortalHi Anas .. thanks for the notice ... I still think in better way to organize Syria topics ... I have collected good collection of links that cover many of syria politics ' history ' culture and i will think in organzing them .. thanks alot and don't hesistate in giving any idea .. Words come naturally for me, but the learning curve on designing is intimidating! I'll probably play around with my user page over time and add a few things in (like the gazillion courses I've taught), but since I seem to be using Wikipedia as my "R&R" activity, I thought I'd at least put something up there. :-) Any aid and assistance would be welcome. (so if you post on my talk page, am I supposed to respond there or over here on your talk page? I'm still trying to figure this part of the etiquette out.) warmly, Cyg-nifier 15:24, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
