Your article is rather good, but it written in a essay-like tone. It should be written in a Neutral point of view and should also avoid original research. I use {{DISPLAYTITLE:<span style="color:#000070; font-family:Times New Roman"><span style="display:none">User:</span>''Alpha Quadrant''</span>}}. Ajusting the parameters will change the look. For example, changing #000070 to #65FF00 would make it lime green. <span style="display:none">User:</span> hides the User: prefix. I hope that helps you. Personal attacks on Wikipedia are not tolerated. The Lalaine article you removed sourced information because it was negative, and then made rather insulting comments on the IP editor's talk page when they restored it. The accusation of vandalism was false. The IP editor calmly asked you what they did wrong and explained their reasoning and you again attacked them. The IP editor then asked you why you resorted to personal attacks, to which you responded to them by calling them a clone. The IP editor then calmly replied to you and came to the Wikipedia IRC help channel and inquired about it. I then replied to the IP's help request and reviewed the situation. From what I see you attacked the IP editor four times and the IP editor calmly replied four times. Looking over your edits it appears that some of your other talk page responses have also been a bit angry. This is why I gave you a warning. I hope that clears this up. Reverts to Video CD

Why not keep an encyclopedia as vague as possible. You may have noticed that some of the points are even covered further on and even in linked articles.

Also Video CD is completely incompatible with DVD. They are not even emotely similar. Most (if not all) DVD videoo players will play Video CD, but only because they contain the firmware to do so. 86.135.169.81 (talk) 17:52, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

Vandalism on Wikipedia page

If you check the history you can see someone has been vandalising this page:

Kashoo marked for deletion?

Hello Alpha Quadrant,

I am writing to inquire about specific reasons why the company I have written an article about has been nominated for quick deletion. The company called Kashoo is a fairly new but very relevant for a number of reasons. One of them being that they have created an open source project at their core. This project uses reflection and dependency injection and is way out on the front of what is happening in Java development. They are the very first (and only) Facelets-like implementation for GWT. I tried to point this out in the article but maybe it was not seen as significant because there is a lack of understanding about software development?

As a caveat, I run my own company (beloud.ca) and use this product. I chose to write an article about them on Wikipedia after noting that they were not included in the comparison of accounting software (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_accounting_software). In order to have them listed in this list I was told that I needed to make an article. I followed the guidelines the best I could and had my first attempts deleted immediately. I created this article on the discussion page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Kashoo) so that I may have a discussion about how to improve the article in order to get it included. I have not received comments or discussion and rather just default note citing it for quick deletion.

I have outlined the open source component that makes this company relevant (not to mention they are an emerging market leader in a newly defined area of SaaS). And I have also linked to articles from non-trivial sources (Google, Yahoo and Business Week). What is wrong with my approach? These guys have been so great to me I really think they should be included in the comparison of accounting software. I would also like to note that after auditing the other companies included in this list, comparing accounting software, there are at the very least 26 companies that fall short of even the simplest criteria you lay fourth - how is it that they are included?

I would really appreciate any advice or help you could give to get this article listed.

Non-admin closure

Hey there. I haven't checked out all your recent non-admin closures, but the one you made on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Libertarians for Life was inappropriate. WP:NAC directs non-administrators to restrict themselves to clear keep outcomes. 2 against 3 does not a clear keep make. The debate should have been relisted or left to an admin. WP:NAC is an essay. It is not a policy nor a guideline. It is suggested that non-admins only handle clear debates, but it does not require them to do so, as it is not a policy, nor a guideline. This is suggested to prevent bias from occurring, as most administrators know how to remain neutral. The reason for the nomination was that you couldn't find any reliable third party sources. As a note, with organizations it is a good practice to search the Google news archives before nominating an article for deletion, on the grounds of containing only unreliable sources. What do you consider significant coverage? There are several articles listed here solely about the organization. Granted some are Pay-per-view news archives, but that doesn't make them unreliable. If you disagree with a closure you should bring it up to the closing admin/user. A neutral administrator close shouldn't hold more weight than a neutral non-admin closure. Administrators are not granted a "status" after a RfA, they are entrusted to perform cleanup tasks. When closing a AfD administrators are acting as a neutral party, and evaluating the two sides of the arguments to see which is correct according to policy. Which is what I did. I agree with Roscelese that non-admins should not close contentious or unclear discussions. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paternity (House), a contentious discussion, should have been left for an admin to close. Likewise, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sheraan Amod should have been relisted or left for an admin to close. That a non-admin closed it resulted in a participant's renominating the article at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sheraan Amod (2nd nomination). Non-admins do not have access to the delete button so are forced to close discussions as "no consensus" or "keep" as opposed to "delete". To avoid creating unneeded controversy, it is best to leave such discussions to admins to close. Cunard (talk) 02:51, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

No, I added those a while ago. It is called an internal link. You can create a internal link by putting two brackets around a word. For example writing [[Apple]] will make Apple. Alpha Quadrant talk 18:09, 13 March 2011 (UTC)
Ok a question about internal links: When I put a plural word in double brackets, one that is not exactly the same word as an article title that I want to link to, all that happens is it is a red link. You should not copy a full paragraph into an article unless you are quoting a source as an example. If you plan to use a quote you can use {{cquote|INSERT QUOTE HERE}} and it will automatically use quotations.Alpha Quadrant talk 03:38, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

Hello, Can you please move my article to be created to a new article? I tried using the move command, but I think I just moved the talk page only! So I reverted it and tried again, but it says that the name I want, "Moonlighting Protein" has been taken-thats because I just moved the talk page there! article about John Clarke Slater

You offered to answer questions about creating biographical articles when you accepted my piece about George Macfarlane. I have just rewritten the entire article about John Clarke Slater. Someone had put up an article that left out rather a lot. Comments on what I have done would be appreciated, if it is appropriate for me to seek them.

Also, if I want to start an article that a student will complete under my direction, should I start it in my user page (this would require the student editing in my page, and I do not know if that would trigger a vandalism alert) or can I write something really minimal and get it moved into article space on the strength of an assurance from me that it will be worked on by someone else within a few hours. That article is really good. The only suggestion I would give you is when more than one reference cites a paragraph, you can use more than one set of <ref> </ref> reference tags. Other than that the article is very good quality. As for creating an article, you can create it in either your userspace, and have the student edit it, or create a short article in the article space. The student probably won't trigger any edit filters/anti-vandalism tools if he uses a clear edit summary. If you create a short article in mainspace you can add the template {{New page}} so the new page patrolers know that you plan on expanding it. Alpha Quadrant talk 14:39, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

Howdy, Online Ambassador!

This is a quick message to all the ambassadors about marking and tracking which articles students are working on. For the classes working with the ambassador program, please look over any articles being worked on by students (in particular, any ones you are mentoring, but others who don't have mentors as well) and do these things:

  1. Add {{WAP assignment | term = Spring 2011 }} to the articles' talk pages. (The other parameters of the {{WAP assignment}} template are helpful, so please add them as well, but the term = Spring 2011 one is most important.)
  2. If the article is related to United States public policy, make sure the article the WikiProject banner is on the talk page: {{WikiProject United States Public Policy}}
  3. Add Category:Article Feedback Pilot (a hidden category) to the article itself. The second phase of the Article Feedback Tool project has started, and this time we're trying to include all of the articles students are working on. Please test out the Article Feedback Tool, as well. The new version just deployed, so any bug reports or feedback will be appreciated by the tech team working on it.

And of course, don't forget to check in on the students, give them constructive feedback, praise them for positive contributions, award them {{The WikiPen}} if they are doing excellent work, and so on. And if you haven't done so, make sure any students you are mentoring are listed on your mentor profile.

The references are fine now, but biography section has quite a few quotes, comprising of about half of it. Can you please write more of the information in your own words. It is ok to use some quotes, and even keep the existing ones, though maybe make it a little clearer that it is a quote, but the majority of the article cannot be comprised of quotes. Hi, thanks for listening to me. I'm brand new to publishing on Wikipedia.

I have a very severe issue with http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quake_done_Quick

I feel that the Physics they implement are impossible without speeding up the game engine falsely -- which I feel is a cheat. This is based on personal experience, as the "Quake done Quicker" video they have shown on their website can not be duplicated in real time. I'm a very skilled player and can not duplicate their results.

I belive they have "messed with" or changed the physics of the game engine in order to achieve they're goal of being the fastest. Which, as I have tried to duplicate without changing the physics of the game, are impossible.

How can a challenge them on Wikipedia?

P.S. Since I'm new, I'm not even sure how to address them publicly?!

Clarify declining the creation of JEFF the Brotherhood band page

Hi Alpha Quadrant. You recently declined the article for the band JEFF the Brotherhood with the statement that the band "appears non-notable," although this article meets the requirements of notability for a band. The band meets criterion 1 "Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself" and criterion 4 "Has received non-trivial coverage in a reliable source of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country." Independent media coverage supporting these points were cited in the article. Hello Roboluncheon, the reason I declined it is because the version of the article doesn't really go into detail. It mentions that the band has gone on numerous tours, but it is unspecific. Yeah, I just asked Chzz about the quick deletion and why everybody's quickly deleting the joke; he mentioned that this subject came up last year. I was following the model from 2009, which was accepted as a good joke by the community. Clearly I missed the 2010 incident. Oh well, I won't push it, but for future reference (for myself and others who post), if the user is a made-up user or bot or something, is that considered acceptable? Well, a few years ago someone created a Bot flag request and changed their signature to VandalBot. Just a note, RfA is done to death. License problem

Hi Alpha, I have some problems with my images' licenses, and I can't fix it. I've read about it and I don't see what I do wrong... Those are images which I took on a public Website (Collegial Centre for Educational Materials Development (CCDMD)) to put on the CCDMD'S wiki page, at the wish of the orgaisation. Well, you could ask the organization to release the images under a free license. Because the website is currently copyrighted the images need to be released under a license compatible with Wikipedia, as content on Wikipedia must be free. Perhaps you can email the organization and ask them to release just the few images you uploaded under one of the licenses listed here. If they are fine with that you can ask the company to email the Wikipedia OTRS team confirming the license. Instructions for emailing the OTRS team can be found here. If they decline, one of the images may be eligible under the fair use criteria, in that case you will need to fill out a fair use rationale for the image that you use. I hope that helps you. Yes, if you wanted to use screenshots of their website then the company would have to send a email to the OTRS team. If the company does not wish to release the images under a free license then one, perhaps two screen captures would be allowed under the fair use policy. Sorry about that. The template is set up so that the user who substs the AfC template is considered the "creator". So to correct this the |u = Ukexpat parameter needs to be corrected to |u = Ddzz02468. Hello Graphmaster, the sources are fine now, but I see one issues Parts of the article don't appear to be written in a neutral point of view. One thing I would suggest is the biography section of the article appears to heavily rely on the first source. This source is reliable, but if possible it would be best if additional sources were used as well (this is just a suggestion though). I understand that a company's website or a litigant's essay may not be considered a "reliable third party" source, but a company's business registration (a legal document, registered with the Legal Records Office in a district or city in Japan, or a court ruling/agreement I would think would be considered a completely impartial, published source (perhaps more impartial than a newspaper article, given that they are legal documents, and not journalism). You are correct, the court case sources are reliable, however, in order for the company to meet the notability guidelines the company needs significant coverage in reliable third party sources. If you can find two or three other sources, for example a newspaper article or a magazine article, then it would make it clear that the company is notable. Oh, in case you didn't know this, sources do not need to be in English. They can be in Japanese, or any other language. I hope that helps you. Please help me obtain some fairness

On an article section of a religious college, an editor persists on listing exclusively a couple of graduates who are notorious criminals. I feel his exclusive list of graduates is unfair to the many other graduates who are not criminals and who are unfairly represented by this editor who seemingly is opposed to that particular religious organization.

The wiki article is called Hyles-Anderson College and the section is called Alumni, while the seemingly biased editor is called MrOllie, but created a new editor acc that he is using to send threats and erase my changes. His new acc is HHaeyyn89.

My request is for you to evaluate the proposed addition:

A X01153943 added a new section titled Distinguised Alumni that I fully support. The new section is listed as follows:

Dr. Jack Schapp, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Hammond, IN. In July 2006, the Church Report magazine named First Baptist number 24 on its list of the 50 most influential churches in the United States.[3]

A stated reason these alumni was erased from the last was that "A pastor in Flowery Branch, Georgia, a town of less than 4,000 people, is not notable" even though X01153943 stated that "The location of a church is irrelevant when assessing notability."

The criterion used to have these alumni included is that they are grads that are Pastors of mega-churches and most well-known large churches (over a 1000 members) and college founders.

I feel my error may be that I do not know yet how to place the information in Wiki the way I am supposed to place it. Either way, I feel there is still a need to meet at a middle ground on this issue. X01153943 even shortened the list to include only those with verifiable notability, and even requested assistance from the editor in question to obtain a middle ground. Request was deleted.

To create a link that goes directly to a section add #SECTIONNAME to the end of the link. For example, to create a link to this section I would write it as [[User talk:Alpha Quadrant#Request for comment]], with would appear as User talk:Alpha Quadrant#Request for comment. Thanks v much, I have a draft article ready for AfC, but I do not want to bother promoting it to main space just yet. I'd like it reviewed first by several people so it does not become unreadably covered in the "citation needed", "merge proposal" or, heaven forbid, "deletion candidate" type tags. If there are any sentences which require work, please edit them directly / put in comments or paste the sentence into this "Discussion" tab. I think the main issue with the article is that it is fairly essaylike. There is a clear introduction and a thesis statement, as well as supporting paragraphs, and a conclusion. The article also contains personal opinions. When writing a paper this style is appropriate, but when writing an encyclopedia entry it is a bit different. Usually Wikipedia entries have a lead section that summarizes the entire article in 2 - 5 paragraphs. The body of the encyclopedia entry you are writing is organized correctly, but there I noticed there are quite a few opinion. For example "It is safe to say that these relationship skills have a literary history since writing began." is a personal view, not a fact. It is possible for others to disagree with it. Wikipedia articles should not contain personal opinions unless the source is specifically mentioned to hold that opinion. For example, if you have a reliable source stating an opinion about an actor, you could write as "According to _____ so and so performed well in some movie". The last thing I noticed was that some sections are comprised entirely of quotations. Quotations are good for supporting a section, but should not be used exclusively. I hope this feedback helps you. Thanks for your constructive and considered feedback, I agree with your analysis. As my first article I am aware that most sentences need to be honed towards wikipedia standards individually. It is better, however you need to make it clear that the opinions in the article are opinions and explain who holds these opinions. The article also contains original research. For example,

Thanks for having another look. For that particular sentence it is one of the tenets of the Relate organisation. I can deal with it by having several direct cite-book refs after the sentence, but - for your information - my usual way of citing these in the article is to provide a (nn) round brace link at the END of the paragraph, this links to both the quote from the source passage and also a complete page-ref citation. The (round-brace) links are primarily to assist reviewers and could be removed when the article is moved to main-space, if that is the consensus. It is important to me that these things are caught before prime-time. I want to avoid a deluge of "citation required" graffiti in main-space. I have weighed up the dichotomies of policies between opinion against contrary forces precluding nomination of sources. I have balanced all, brought all to mind, and while the sum of human knowledge drove to this tumult in the Wiki-sphere, this lonely impulse won't be submitted to AfC.
