I'd suggest you look in the history, the article had been around for more than a year. Just because some recent revisions look spammy doesn't mean it should be deleted. Mr.Z-man 01:33, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Took a second look. You are correct. Restored. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 02:00, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Ryan Beckstrom

The page "Ryan Beckstrom" should be restored... I didn't have enough time to get around to citing the the sources before it was deleted. If you don't think he is a "real person" or not an "important enough" person, first read the articles about him in the local and state newspapers that will be coming with the sources. Thank you for your time and understanding. Beck-diddy (talk) 22:22, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

The reason it was marked for deletion and subsequently deleted is not because he's "not a real person" or "important enough", but because the article did not indicate importance or significance (see the A7 criteria for speedy deletion). Please read the guidelines for notability of people. If after reading these, you think you can provide reliable sources, please come back and I'll be glad to restore the article to your userspace for you to work on. -- Alexf(talk) 22:31, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

London

Hi, i was wondering if it would be appropriate if you could include a "Media" section on the London page. You are missing the local media such as radio, broadcasting services etc... Jonny7003 (talk) 18:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't know. I don't follow that article. I guess if you have reliable sources and the radio stations are notable enough. I would look at articles on other major cities and see what they have or don't. -- Alexf(talk) 21:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Re: Vandalism

...How was that vandalism? 99.167.225.149 (talk) 23:11, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Seeing that you had several admonishments in your talk page and a subsequent block, I think that answers your question. -- Alexf(talk) 23:27, 2 November 2008 (UTC)

Page: Neptuny

Hello Alex, could you please do a quick check of the page Neptuny that I edited again? Many thanks and best regards, Johanna sc (talk) 14:01, 3 November 2008 (UTC)JOhanna

Looks better but still has problems. All the (TM) and (R) signs have to go. If you cannot remove them, then they don't belong in a Wikipedia encyclopedic article. It still reads like company-produced ad-copy. It does not show why the products are notable. It has no independent links to reliable sources except maybe for the IBC award (I did not follow the link to check though). It has no references and the only external link provided is to the company's website. Again, I'm just another editor so take it as personal opinion, but I still think it might be tagged by other editors as G11. -- Alexf(talk) 15:16, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

McQuaid Jesuit High School

OK. I'll take your word for it as it is unreferenced. Please remember to sign your posts in talk pages with four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 19:42, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

On the McQuaid Jesuit High School page Andrew Creary under notable alumni is not true. He is neither an alumnus nor actually real.

RE: User:216.54.187.180 block

I received a comment from the user, just before you blocked. I now agree with the user and have reverted my last reversion of his on McQuaid Jesuit High School. I think he was not doing vandalism, he just did not explain his actions properly. You might want to take a look and reconsider, give him a cluestick rap and see how it goes from there. -- Alexf(talk) 19:47, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey Alex. :) Given this (1) edits (2) I feel very uncomfortable unblocking the IP. Best wishes, —αἰτίας discussion 19:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
Ah. I only looked at the one reversion I've done. It seems it may have been a different user removing this edit about a non-existent, unreferenced person. But you know how it is about schools. You are correct then. Thanks. -- Alexf(talk) 20:01, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
No problem. :) —αἰτίας discussion 20:27, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Please read this page for information on why articles get deleted, and please remember to sign your posts in talk with four tildes at the end. -- Alexf(talk) 13:12, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

Watson-Marlow Pumps

I added some references to Watson-Marlow Pumps in order to establish notability just after you deleted the article. Could you please restore the article's history so that the article's creator is properly credited? I hadn't heard of the company before a few minutes ago when I saw it in the speedy category and thought that I should try to rescue it. Many thanks. -- Eastmain (talk) 15:34, 10 November 2008 (UTC)

Done. -- Alexf(talk) 17:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
|Hi, just an observation: you've blocked the original author for spamming for this company. Are you happy that the article should remain? It just seems a little inconsistent to me: either the company is notable and the author should be advised of CoI and the article tidied, or it's all an exercise in spam and both article and author should be chucked. At least that's how I see it. Interested in your thoughts. Regards, TrulyBlue (talk) 23:14, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
OK. My thoughts, right or wrong are: the article was saved by somebody doing the research. It proves notability, so it trumps speedy deletion. The user clearly violated username policy. I have little patience for spammers. But I'm bound to void the speedy by policy. If the article were deemed deletable it would have to go by PROD (I don't see a case for that), or AfD which I'm not inclined to start (but does not stop you or anybody else from doing it of course). There you go. -- Alexf(talk) 01:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Fair enough, thanks for that. I'm not convinced that the article does enough to establish notability, but that's another matter. regards, TrulyBlue (talk) 09:39, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
Then by all means put it up for AfD. -- Alexf(talk) 11:06, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

Talent Reconnaissance

My aim was to write the page article as simply informational. It is intended as an example of what primary and secondary Sourcing (personnel) are. I found this company through Google, but have seen the name on Zoom, Fast Company, and other sites. If i can find some company biographical information to include with a very small description of what they do, would this comply with the no advertising policy? Bowen Technique

Dear Alex

The Bowen Technique has been written about quite extensively in the UK, US and Australian press, has been featured on TV and was athe main feature of The Jamesons show which featured the technique in over three programmes with the biggest response ever.

Four books have been written on the subject, it is used widely in the NHS and by private physiotherapists and has been credited with the cuirrent success of World Champion Rubgby League team the Leeds Rhinos.

It is a very established therapy around the world but particularly in the UK.

Research put through ethics has been carried out and international conferences have featured the technique.

Please re instate this page as it is very relevant and well documented.

Thank you very much 149.254.200.213 (talk) 13:00, 11 November 2008 (UTC)Julian Baker

I'm sorry. What is the page (link) you are talking about? I searched through the list of my recent page deletions and could not see a "Bowen". As stated above, I process deletions for dozens of pages as part of my duties. It is a chore to keep track of them, so unless you can identify a link, I can't answer your request. -- Alexf(talk) 16:02, 11 November 2008 (UTC)

You deleted Marko Tervonen

You deleted the Marko Tervonen page that I made yesterday.

Marko Tervonen is one of the main metal guitarists from Sweden, his former band The Crosn (also on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Crown_(band) ) released seven albums and made several world tours. Hus current band Angel Blake are signed to a label in Finland and they have released two albums so far.

Please read WP:MUSIC. The article did not comply with it. Please understand that Wikipedia requires verifiability and proof of notability. Also, please remember to sign your posts in talk with four tildes. -- Alexf(talk) 11:32, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

Andrew Leggo

Dear Alex,

Thanks for the help.

This all started because there is a reference to me, my old design company (Space Logic) and the Roland AX-1 on the wiki page Roland_AX-1. I thought it would be helpful to give researchers into electronic musical instrument history, Roland, MIDI controllers etc. a way to find out more. In its day, Space Logic received quite a bit of press and the designs were exhibited at the Design Museum in London and also by the Design Council.

I don't need to publisise me personally, (although that too might be useful if people need to track me down). Having said that, Space Logic (now defunct) was in its heyday quite significant in the development of music related products. So it would be good to be able to write about that somehow. My plan was to start with me and then add links to a Space Logic page, photos etc. etc.

I don't want to upset anyone as I really believe in what Wikipedia is doing. Forgive the ramblings of a novice. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Andrew LL the FL (talk) 16:11, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

School IP vandalism

The school computers are getting warnings about reverts. Just wanted you to know that this is a school, not a individual, and would therefore ask that it not be banned if some imbecile decides to vandalise something. 82.148.68.140 (talk) 14:13, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

There is a difference between a ban and a block. While vandalism will not get the school IP banned it will get it blocked for longer and longer periods of time as per policy. I am sorry, but unfortunately we receive a tremendous amount of vandalism from school IP accounts. It is unfortunate that schools don't seem to be teaching ethics to their students, or if they do, it doesn't take. Even if your school account is blocked for a period of time, you can always login if you create an account, a simple and free process that has many advantages. Thank you for your comments. -- Alexf(talk) 19:50, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Zambian Economist

You recent deleted the Zambian Economist page.

Zambia is a small country and therefore you may have not realised how important the website is to that country.

Is it possible for you to restore it?

If you are not sure...the website can be found here www.zambian-economist.com

Thank you,

AmbassadorC —Preceding unsigned comment added by AmbassadorC (talkcontribs) 11:10, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Zambia has its own page. Maybe the article could be merged there. As it was it did not show any assertion of notability and it read like an advertisement, so it did not comply with policy in many ways. Please remember to sign your posts in Talk with four tildes. -- Alexf(talk) 11:16, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Forgive me...I am new to this, and I only wrote the page after I searched for it on the web. It was all over the web but just not wikipedia.

I don't understand why it can't just have its own page.

Now that you agree that it is not an advert and it is important to Zambia...why not just let it have its own page?

AmbassadorC AmbassadorC (talk) 11:31, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

It is not up to me but to Wikipedia's policies. You must understand that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. Articles have to be about notable subjects and must be verifiable. If you can show it belongs here by providing reliable third party sources then it might have a place. -- Alexf(talk) 12:08, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Hello. Could you restore this article please along with its talk page. If I remember correctly, I found some sources for the article and put these on the talk page. I've come back to it today to expand the article and found that it has been deleted. Thanks.--Michig (talk) 12:15, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

page deletion

Dear Alex,

The wiki page I was working on has been deleted since I have been overseas traveling on business. I would like to request the opportunity to modify my wiki page in order to follow the guidelines and create the page accordingly. This is my first wikipedia page and I am not very aware on how everything works... is there any way to access what I have written thus far or by you having deleted it, is it gone forever? I have many published articles that I can use as sources, that I haven't had a chance to reference online since I have been out of the country traveling but I would like to request the opportunity to make the necessary changes to keep this page online.

Thank you,

I've no idea what page you are referring to as you have not stated its name. If the article is not defamatory, or otherwise offensive, it can be restored to your userspace for you to work on. Be aware of our policies and guidelines. If you are a novice it might help you to read Your first article, the Five Pillars of Wikipedia and peruse our help pages. -- Alexf(talk) 17:47, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

My apologies. The page is for the "Reach Cooling Group." It is my first wiki page, so I will definitely have to go thru the guidelines and make the appropiate changes.

Hi
Just FYI, I mentioned a user talk page you protected at WP:AN#Indefinitely semi-protected user talk pages since it's one of a great number of indef semi protected user talk pages. I'm explicitly not complaining or reporting, it just happened to be one that I used as an example, since it's in principle against WP:SEMI.
Cheers, AmaltheaTalk 22:51, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't know which page you are referring to. Must have been because of heavy vandalism. If you indicate the page I can take a look an undo my actions if warranted. -- Alexf(talk) 23:40, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
The one that was protected by you was Arbiteroftruth's page. That's actually the one that sparked my interest for the first time cause I noticed a while ago that Arbiteroftruth was tagging for speedy deletion, which quite often will lead very new users to his talk page trying to ask for an explanation, but they can't due to the protection.
Cheers,AmaltheaTalk 00:22, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
FWIW, I just looked and found his RFPP request, which you answered. I was confused because I only saw a single anon vandalism in the days prior to protection. --AmaltheaTalk 00:25, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
I see now. Yes, he asked at RFPP and his request was granted. If he posts a request for unprotection at RFPP it will be granted too by any admin on call. -- Alexf(talk) 01:20, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Second opinion

I just salted Grace of Shekinah School (which you've speedied before) and Grace of shekinah school. If I didn't follow procedures correctly, could you let me know? Thanks.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 13:54, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Not sure if salting is the proper option here. I seldom salt and only if it is blatantly repeated often (at least four or more times) and I see no reason why the article would ever become notable. In the case of a school (with proper capitalization) might become notable in the future. Can always be reversed, so no permanent harm done, just my .02 -- Alexf(talk) 14:51, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
Ok. I'll keep that in mind next time. Thanks!--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 19:09, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

I looked at it again and restored it. You are correct. I was hasty and had been fooled by the latest edits that had removed all content and replaced with an attack paragraph. Article reverted to a stable state. Thanks for the heads up. -- Alexf(talk) 10:45, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the author who has been receiving attention in the local Trinidad press quite recently for his work how is it possible to have this article reinstated? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zbap (talkcontribs) 15:29, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Do you feel you can assert notability under WP:CREATIVE and WP:BIO? If that is so, and you can provide reliable references I'll be happy to restore it for you. Just because the subject has been in the local press lately, does not automatically make him notable. Then again, if he has published books or his work has otherwise been recognized, then you might have enough for it to be in an encyclopedia. -- Alexf(talk) 16:06, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

I disagree with your initial deletion of Thia Megia. The version you deleted states that her performances were broadcast on radio, and she had won awards in different competitions. Winning awards would seem to be at least an assertion of notability per WP:MUSIC.

Therefore I would urge you to undelete the page, and optionally place it on AfD if you still feel strongly it should be deleted. Otherwise I will bring it to deletion review. Regards, Kimchi.sg «C¦ 14:09, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

I see you are an admin. Please go ahead and restore if you wish (I'm at work now and can't spend the time, just came in for a quick message check). At the time I considered a speedy deletion request and felt it was warranted. If you want the article back on grounds of enough notability under WP:MUSIC, I will not contest it nor start an AfD. Your opinion is enough for me. Cheers! -- Alexf(talk) 14:25, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
