Problems rendering timeline correctly in Firefox / Opera browsers
This template has multiple viewability / clickability problems in browsers other than Internet Explorer.
It looks like this template was not built to standard HTML requirements. In the newest versions of Firefox (v. 26.0) and Opera (v. 18.0), a number of Wiki-linked terms are not clickable.
For example, in Firefox, in the top row, when hoving the mouse over Viet Cong, Palace Bombing, Gulf of Tonkin Incident, Tet Offensive, and Parcel Islands -- they are not clickable.
In Firefox, Battle of Duroc Co, Cambodian Campaign, Easter Offensive, and Fall of Saigon *are* clickable, although it takes very careful positioning to be able to click on those links.
In Opera, the following items are somewhat difficult to click, requiring effort in positioning the mouse:
Hao Hao defeated
Palace bombing
Tet Offensive
Easter Offensive
Likewise, all the U.S. presidents in the second row are not clickable, in either Opera or Firefox.
Furthermore, the entire timeline has major viewability problems in older versions of Opera (like Opera 12). In that version, the text on the first row is crunched into the second row.
I've tried with different graphics resolutions, and different text sizes, but the problem remains.
@Infoman99:, Thanks for noticing this. I fixed it now, please check and confirm. The problem was because of webkit's (rendering engine for chrome and opera) implementation of z-index and inline elements. As visible in this image the z-index of inline elements do not supersede block level elements. --Jayarathina (talk) 06:40, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like all the links are now rendering correctly in the newest versions of Firefox, Opera, and Chrome. Thanks again for your hard work, Jay. Infoman99 (talk) 20:43, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
