Template talk:History of Germany sidebar

Changes

A few changes that I think should be made:

  • Military history during World War II is part of Nazi Germany and should not be here.
  • There should be an article that deals with the two German states (East and West) which would replace the History of Germany since 1945
  • The last entry should be the Federal Republic of Germany.

Franks

Franks was originally part of this template. Why has it been removed? -- Petri Krohn 01:42, 17 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Background colors

I just fixed what I believe was a mislink that was a leftover from a template migration. I also noticed that the background colors of each line of the template switch seemingly randomly from white to grey. I was wondering if the each title (Ancient times, Building a nation, etc) should be one color and the entries another, or if each full section should alternate colors. I'd be glad to do the work if someone agrees with one of those methods. Craig R. Nielsen 04:32, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

November Revolution

I removed the November Revolution, because in difference to the other parts of the list, this "Revolution" is no period of time. This template can not include every single event of the German History.--Thw1309 14:27, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't sure about adding it either, but it was worth trying - I was thinking of something to cover the transition period between the end of the Empire and the actual start of the Republic (a 4-month gap). No problem. - 52 Pickup 14:41, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

German colonial empire

Should we add link to German colonial empire into the template? 96.229.179.106 (talk) 21:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kingdom of Germany

No such country at the time, nothing was named like this prior to HRE, as template suggests. Kingdom of Germany as a link is useful for the medieval heading. Mootros (talk) 16:48, 18 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The current coat of arms of Germany is not representative for the whole history of the country/region. See also the template for France for example, or China, etc. The current coa can be used for government templates for example. Are there suggestions what could be used that would be more representative. Gryffindor (talk) 07:39, 29 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
