Takreem USA
Takreem America[1] also known as Takreem USA is a non-profit organization founded in 2019[2] focused on recognizing Arab American contributions and fostering connections with their countries of origin.[3] Each year, it acknowledges Arab individuals and institutions for contributions in Young Entrepreneurship, Corporate Leadership, Cultural Excellence, Sciences and Technology, and Environmental Development and Sustainability. Takreem America also presents Lifetime Awards and Special Distinctions to individuals whose work has notably influenced their communities and beyond.[2] Takreem America was established as an extension of Takreem’s efforts, initially focused on Arab communities in the Arab world. Ricardo Karam[4] came up with the idea of Takreem in 2004[5] and launched it officially in 2009.[6] In 2019, Takreem expanded its activities to include the United States and reach out to the Arab diaspora in the two continents of America; to be a launch announcement (Takreem America),[7] The first honoring ceremony was held in February 2022 in Miami, Florida at the Ritz Carlton, Coconut Grove.[2] Takreem America hosted its 2nd annual weekend in Los Angeles, California.[1] in February, 2023 at Millennium Biltmore Hotel[8] to highlight contributions of the Arab diaspora. In April 2024, Takreem America held its annual weekend in Boston, Massachusetts at the Copley Place.[9] ActivitiesTakreem America first get-together took place in Miami, Florida, in February 2022.[10][11] It consisted of an Awards ceremony, a gala dinner, and a series of talks and panels. The gala dinner raised funds for Lebanese students in the USA struggling to pay university fees due to Lebanon’s liquidity crisis.[12] Takreem America 2023 included an Awards Night recognizing contributions of individuals in various fields. It also featured the TAKminds Forum, facilitating discussions on community development and global issues.[8][13] In 2024, Takreem America’s Awards Night in Boston recognized Arab Americans for their contributions and achievements. The TAKminds Forum convened at MIT in Cambridge, focusing on 'Ripples of Impact' and discussions on Arab-American contributions.[14]
