Sondra Freckelton
Sondra Freckelton (1936 – 2019) was an American sculptor and watercolorist. Freckelton was born in Dearborn, Michigan on June 23, 1936.[1] She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.[2] In 1955[3] she married to fellow realist artist Jack Beal (1931–2013).[4] Her sculpture was included in the 1959 exhibition Recent Sculpture U.S.A. at the Museum of Modern Art (as Sondra Beal).[5] Her work was also included in the 1964 Annual Exhibition of Contemporary American Sculpture at the Whitney (as Sondra Beal).[6] In the mid-1970s Freckelton began focusing on watercolor painting.[7] Freckelton died on June 10, 2019, in Oneonta, New York.[8] Her work is in the Art Institute of Chicago,[9] the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts,[10] the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art,[11] the Oklahoma City Museum of Art,[12] and the Smithsonian American Art Museum,[13] and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.[14] References
