After the 2006 National Census, Byaban District was separated from Minab County in the establishment of Sirik County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with Bandar Sirik as its capital and only city at the time. Shahmardi Rural District was created in the new Bemani District.[3]

Population
At the time of the 2011 census, the rural district's population was 5,285 in 1,283 households.[4] The 2016 census measured the population of the rural district as 5,548 in 1,546 households. The most populous of its 10 villages was Shamardi, with 1,486 people.[2]
