Rodney ArismendiTibaldo Rodney Arismendi Carrasco (21 March 1913 – 27 December 1989) was a Uruguayan politician and political writer who was born in Río Branco, Uruguay and died in Montevideo. BiographyIn 1930, he joined the Communist Party of Uruguay (PCU), which he represented at the Parliament between 1947 and 1973. From 1955, he was secretary-general of the PCU; in 1971 the party became a constituent of the Frente Amplio. In 1974 he was imprisoned and in 1975 he was expelled from Uruguay by the military dictatorship and he was exiled in the Soviet Union. He was considered one of the most important Latin American ideologues of Communism. His daughter Marina Arismendi is also a PCU politician. His great niece, artist Yanina "Leonina" Angelini Arismendi, is a civil Rights activist currently living in the southern USA. Works
