Pierre Kast

Pierre Kast (French: [kast]; 22 September 1920 – 20 October 1984)[1] was a French screenwriter, film and television director, and freedom fighter.

Biography

Prior to his work in film, Kast was a resistance activist in World War II, opposing the Vichy regime as a member of the Communist Students of Paris.[2]

As a member of the magazine Cahiers du cinéma in the 1950s, Kast created many short films and documentaries. He also served as a critic for the magazine.[3]

Kast died from a heart attack on board an aircraft on 20 October 1984, aged 64.[4]
