Genus of spiders
Phlogiellus is a genus of tarantulas that was first described by Reginald Innes Pocock in 1897.[ 4] They are found throughout Asia and Papua New Guinea, including Indonesia , the Philippines , Papua New Guinea , China , Myanmar , Malaysia , Borneo , Thailand , the Solomon Islands and Taiwan . Phlogiellus is part Latin and part Greek, the first part being "φλóξ φλoγóϛ", meaning flame, the second part being "ellus" which is a latin diminutive suffix.[ 5]
Diagnosis
The can be distinguished thanks to the scopulae on tarsi 1 and 4, which were divided. There is also a stridulating organ present but reduced. They also own thin and elongated chelicerate strikers, which are pallid in color. Their size is also smaller than most other tarantulas .[ 5]
