Peponia (Greek: Πεπονιά, before 1927: Λάη – Lai),[2] is a village and a community of the Voio municipality.[3] Before the 2011 local government reform it was part of the municipality of Neapoli, of which it was a municipal district.[3] The 2021 census recorded 48 inhabitants in the village.[1]
The 1920 Greek census recorded 321 people in the village, and 250 inhabitants (60 families) were Muslim in 1923.[7] Following the Greek–Turkish population exchange, Greek refugee families in Lai were from East Thrace (26), Asia Minor (4) and Pontus (60) in 1926.[7] The 1928 Greek census recorded 338 village inhabitants.[7] In 1928, the refugee families numbered 88 (323 people).[7]
