Outstanding Artist Award for Music

The Outstanding Artist Award for Music is given annually by the Federal Chancellery of Austria for achievements that influence the current art scene.[1] The prize is awarded as a category of the Outstanding Artist Awards.[2] In total, the Outstanding Artists Awards are given in 14 categories.[3] The predecessor award State Prize for Music (Staatspreis für Musik) was given from 1950 to 1970.[2] In 2009, the award was named Outstanding Artist Award for Music.

This award was given as the Austrian State Prize for Music from 1950 to 1970,[2] then from 1971 to 2009 as "promotion award for music" (Förderpreis für Musik).[4]
