Ollantaytambo District
Ollantaytambo District is one of seven districts of Urubamba Province in Peru. The town of Ollantaytambo is the capital of the district.[1] GeographyThe Urupampa and Willkapampa mountain ranges traverse the district. The highest peak of the district is Sallqantay at 6,271 metres (20,574 ft). Other mountains are listed below:[2]
Ethnic groupsThe people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (58.55%) learnt to speak in childhood, 38.74% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3] See alsoReferences
