It was created by the North Carolina General Assembly with the support of Governor Pat McCrory. The current head of the Department is Secretary Grier Martin, who succeeded Walter E. It was abolished in 1977.[3] In his 2015 state of the state address, Governor Pat McCrory declared it his goal to reestablish the department. Later that year the North Carolina General Assembly passed the state budget which provided for the recreation of the agency.[4] Division of Military AffairsDivision of Veterans AffairsOrganizational structureOffice of the SecretaryDivision of Veterans AffairsMilitary Affairs CommissionEconomic impact
