Nawal El Kuwaitia
Nawal (Arabic: نوال; born Nawal Thaher Habib Al-Zaid Arabic: نوال ظاهر حبيب الزيد,[1] 18 November 1966), known by her stage name "Nawal El Kuwaitia (Arabic: نوال الكويتية)" is a singer and actress. CareerNawal studied at the Music Institute in Kuwait.[2] Nawal's first album was released in 1984.[3] The majority of her albums are not titled, but rather are referred to by number (e.g. Nawal 98, Nawal 99).[citation needed] She has also filmed many music videos (mainly in Lebanon)[4] and was one of the first Khaliji artists to do so.[citation needed] After retiring from her singing career for personal reasons, Nawal returned after five years [when?] with a duet performed with Abdullah Rashad, "Kan Widdi Niltiki" ("I Wished We Could Have Met").[citation needed] In 2022, she joined Spotify's EQUAL Arabia as its ambassador for the month of July.[3][5] In December 2024, it was reported that her citizenship was revoked by the Kuwaiti government.[6] As such, Nawal reportedly removed her titular nickname "El-Kuwaitia" from all of her social media pages.[citation needed] DiscographyAlbums
