Mikaela Davis (born April 9, 1992) is an American musician, harpist, songwriter, vocalist and producer. Pitchfork describes her music as "rugged alt-country, twangy roots rock, paisley-bedecked Laurel Canyon psychedelia, and jam-band choogle, always staying anchored in the interplay between the stringed instruments." [1] [2]

Education

Davis is a classically trained harpist[3] and studied at the Crane School of Music.[4]

Recognition

The 2023 release And Southern Star was well received with Pitchfork calling it "stirring" with "warm, inviting songs".[5] Glide Magazine recognized And Southern Star as one of the top 20 indie records of 2023 and called it "pure artistry".[6]

Southern Star

Southern Star is Davis’ backing band first appearing on her 2023 album And Southern Star. Its members are Alex Coté (drums), Kurt Johnson (pedal steel, lap steel, electric guitar), Shane McCarthy (bass), and Cian McCarthy (guitar, saxophone, vocals).[2]
