Max Asher , born Max Ascher ,[ 1] (May 5, 1885 – April 15, 1957) was an American actor whose career spanned the early silent film era to talkies in the early 1930s. His career began on stage.[ 2] [ 3] He appeared in various comedic shorts. He was 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 m) tall, and weighed more than 200 pounds (91 kg). In the 1920s he transitioned to character actor roles.[ 4]
He was born in Oakland .[ 2]
Asher was part of Universal Pictures' Joker Comedy unit with Gale Henry and Milburn Morante .[ 5] Asher appeared in a title role with Henry in Lady Baffles and Detective Duck [ 6] and 12 short films produced by Pat Powers in 1915.
He died in Los Angeles.[ 7] [ 8]
