Malladi Krishna Rao
Malladi Krishna Rao (born 6 June 1964) is a former member of the Puducherry legislative assembly representing Yanam constituency in India. He was a former Minister for Health, Tourism, Irrigation, Civil Aviation, Sports & Fisheries, Arts and Culture for the Government of Puducherry.[1] He stood twice as an Independent candidate in 1996 and 2001 and twice as an Indian National Congress candidate in the Pudicherry union territory elections.[2] He is the first Yanam citizen to become the minister in Government of Puducherry in 2006. He was awarded as the Best Member of the Legislative Assembly Award twice from the Lieutenant Governor and Chief Minister of Puducherry. Malladi is a key member in Puducherry politics and neighbouring districts of Andhra Pradesh.[3] Early lifeMalladi Krishna Rao was born on 6 June 1964 in Darialathippa Village, in the Yanam district in India. He was born in an Agnikula Kshatriya Community and went to school up to 12th Grade. Political careerMalladi Krishna Rao was elected as a member of the Indian National Congress for Yanam in 1996. He held this post until 2021.[4] He acted as Minister of Tourism, Local Administration, Civil Aviation, Rural Development, District & Rural Development in May 2006 and acted as Minister of Revenue, Excise, Fisheries, Tourism, Civil Aviation and Sports & Youth Services in 2008 in the Cabinet of Puducherry. In 2021 he was appointed Special Representative to the Government of Puducherry.[5] Positions
