MYBYK was founded in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in May 2014[1][2] by Arjit Soni. Supported by private sector funds and the Amdavad Municipal Corporation,[3][4] the project was initially started with 200 bicycles and 4 stations,[5] in conjunction with Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS). The bicycle stations are located at BRTS stations,[6] which allows public transport users to use bicycles from BRTS stations to homes and offices.
MYBYK expanded its service to Jamnagar, Mumbai,[7] and Udaipur, operating with 5,500 cycles.[8][9] In 2022, MYBYK started services in Nagpur in association with Nagpur Metro, with hubs at metro stations for last-mile connectivity.[10] Around the same time, the company expanded services to the largest city in central India, Indore, in partnership with Atal Indore City Transport Service Limited with 1,000 cycles. A plan to increase the number of cycles by 3,000 was also approved.[11]
In 2023, the company launched electric bicycles as part of its fleet.[12]
