John Badcock (artist)
John Badcock (born 1952,[1] Queenstown[2]) is a New Zealand (Kiwi) artist, based in Geraldine, South Canterbury.[2] Badcock has been a professional artist for more than three decades.[2] His accolades include solo exhibitions throughout New Zealand since 1985, and more recently the exhibiting of The Last Supper at the ChristChurch Cathedral.[citation needed] In 2007 he exhibited 100 life-sized portraits of people who passed by his studio, painted during a single year.[3] Badcock won the Kelliher Art Award in 1965,[4] and was a finalist in the New Zealand Portrait Awards in 2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006.[citation needed] He is the subject of two New Zealand Art Films: John Badcock – a Film by Brian High, and A Changing Landscape – A Film by Simon Pattison.[1] References
