Unincorporated Community in Indiana, United States
Hubbell is an unincorporated community in the southwestern corner of Jefferson Township , Owen County , in the U.S. state of Indiana .[ 2] It lies near the intersection of County Road 750 South (aka Hubbell Station) and Indiana Highway 157, which is a community nearly twenty miles southwest of the city of Spencer , the county seat .[ 3] Its elevation is 528 feet (161 m), and it is located at 39°10′59″N 87°0′44″W / 39.18306°N 87.01222°W / 39.18306; -87.01222 (39.1830989 -87.0122322). This community is also known as Hubbells Station .
History
A post office was established at Hubbell in 1881, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1883.[ 4] Mary E. Hubbell served as the postmaster.[ 5]
