County in Golestan, Iran
Gorgan County (Persian : شهرستان گرگان ) is in Golestan province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Gorgan .[ 3]
History

After the 2006 National Census, the village of Jelin was elevated to the status of a city.[ 4] After the 2016 census, the village of Qoroq rose to city status as well.[ 5]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 census, the county's population was 393,887 in 105,120 households.[ 6] The following census in 2011 counted 462,455 people in 135,112 households.[ 7] The 2016 census measured the population of the county as 480,541 in 150,649 households.[ 2]
