Germán Barbas
Germán Barbas Díaz (born 17 September 2007) is a Uruguayan professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for the Uruguayan Primera División club Peñarol. Club careerA youth product of Club Náutico, Barbas moved to the academy of Peñarol in 2019 at the age of 12.[3] He signed his first professional contract with the club on 2 May 2024 until December 2026.[4] He made his senior and professional debut with Peñarol as a substitute in a 3–1 Uruguayan Primera División win over C.A. Progreso on 24 May 2024. At the age of 16 years, 8 months and 7 days, Barbas is the second youngest debutant in the history of the league behind Coquito[5] International careerBarbas played for the Uruguay U20s at the 2024 L'Alcúdia International Football Tournament, and scored the only goal in the final as his team beat the Argentina U20s.[3] Playing styleA complete midfielder with a strong shot, Barbas has earned comparisons to his compatriot Federico Valverde.[2] Honours
