"Fannie Mae " is a 1959 song, written and performed by the American blues and R&B singer, Buster Brown .[ 1]
The track made it into the Top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 , and to number one on the US Billboard R&B chart in April 1960.[ 2] AllMusic 's Vladimir Bogdanov called the song "one of the most undiluted blues records to ever make the Top 40."[ 3]
In popular culture
The song is featured in the film American Graffiti (1973).[ 4]
