Echo is a city in Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, United States. 2010 censusAs of the census of 2010, there were 278 people, 111 households, and 71 families living in the city. The population density was 275.2 inhabitants per square mile (106.3/km2). There were 122 housing units at an average density of 120.8 per square mile (46.6/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 91.7% White, 1.4% Native American, 1.4% Asian, 1.8% from other races, and 3.6% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.8% of the population. There were 111 households, of which 34.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.9% were married couples living together, 12.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.4% had a male householder with no wife present, and 36.0% were non-families. 33.3% of all households were made up of individuals, and 15.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.50 and the average family size was 3.23. The median age in the city was 37 years. 32% of residents were under the age of 18; 6.1% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 23.1% were from 25 to 44; 23.4% were from 45 to 64; and 15.5% were 65 years of age or older. The racial makeup of the city was 97.48% White, 1.08% Native American, and 1.44% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.08% of the population. There were 119 households, out of which 28.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.6% were married couples living together, 4.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 41.2% were non-families. 37.8% of all households were made up of individuals, and 26.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.34 and the average family size was 3.16. In the city, the population was spread out, with 27.0% under the age of 18, 6.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 22.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females, there were 91.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.2 males.
