After his world title shot against Tyson Fury in April ended in a stoppage defeat, Whyte linked up with new trainer Buddy McGirt ahead of his comeback fight against unbeaten Jermaine Franklin.[4]
The fight
The fight was largely uneventful, however Whyte hurt Franklin with a clean left hand at the end of the 12th round. One judge had it 115-115 with the other two scoring it for Whyte 116-112.[2][3]
Aftermath
Franklin said afterwards "I felt like I got robbed on the decision, I felt like I did enough". With former foe Anthony Joshua at ringside, talk of a potential rematch in 2023 continued apace.[5]
