Citizens National Bank was founded on July 11, 1890, at 4th and Main Streets in Laurel, Maryland as Citizens National Bank of Laurel.[1][2] The bank's founder and first president was Charles H. Stanley.[3]Barnes Compton is also identified as a founder and early director of the bank.[4] On April 1, 1965, it was renamed to Citizens National Bank after merging with The Central Bank of Howard County.[1][5]
